and a cat?
The deputy also spotted a cat in the home and spoke with neighbors who said they usually see someone visiting the home at 27034 Jarvis Road daily to feed the pets. The same neighbors said no one had been seen stopping by the past few days.

Well, the pets are not a top priority (my opinion only). I sincerely hope the girls are not missing them greatly. I am sure the pets are missing the girls greatly. (My opinion only based on having been friends and soul mates with many a pet).

Husband of murdered Estero doctor says he avoids media

A spokesman for Lee County Domestic Animal Services said the agency was called at the request of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday to the home to check the condition of the animals present.

After visiting the scene and making contact with the owner, the spokesman said it was determined the animals were being cared for. Animal Services closed its case later Tuesday.

The animal services report said Lee deputies called when they saw two black dogs who appeared thin. An animal services officer said one dog appeared thin with skin issues. "However, the dog was a senior dog and appeared OK at the time," the officer said in a report, adding: "The canines are not in distress at this time."

Just say in' & from a behavioralists perspective:

I hope the "paparazzi" doesn't prevent MS from his obligation to care for his dogs/cat **daily** due to his new found "fame". There's a lot of victims in this case.

With his wife’s busy schedule, MS was probably always the primary caretaker of the dogs and cat.
The news article outlined specifics in the Lee County report, including these details about **daily** care:

http://www.news-press.com/story/new...-estero-doctor-says-he-avoids-media/32565469/
- Sievers assured the officer that the dogs were old and on a special diet and that someone is at the house daily, sometimes more, to deal with them.
- he has changed his routine due to media attention but that the animals are checked daily.

Just wonder whether Mckzpam or Papillon Love have seen anyone tending to them lately. They have been so kind to inform us of what is happening over there.

Sorry, but imo just because MS says "someone is at the house daily, sometimes more, to deal with them" doesn't mean it is so in my book.

“deal with them” is often a style of speech… and it could be the report writer is the one who came up with that phrase?

Final outcome is this:
Lee County Domestic Animal Services “determined the animals were being cared for“ and “Animal services closed its case“.

I love dogs. If I thought these dogs were being mistreated it would certainly tell me a lot about the type of person MS. You can learn a lot about someone by how they treat animals IMO.
BUT, that doesn't seem to be the case here. It was a tragic situation that all family members (including pets) have their lives negatively affected. The situation of the dogs being left at the house really could be the best thing for them. They have a nice big yard that they are free to roam in, they are being fed and visited regularly and in familiar territory. This really could be the best option available. JMO

Don't you think it has been a bit toooooo long for the dogs to be without consistent human interaction? Its about time they had a little more loving care.

I can see a week or two but 3 months? I'm sure the dogs are depressed. It might be legally acceptable but not acceptable in a healthy emotional standpoint, IMO the isolation will probably shorten the life of the older dog.

But the real question and concern is how much longer is this going to go on?

Does anyone recall the name of the holistic vet they use? I googled it but there are 3 in that area. I'm considering stopping by the vets and offering to go play with the dogs at least once a week before work. Hopefully if I show up in person they will consider my offer more legit and pass on the message to MS. I'd love to do more but I have 6 dogs of my own that are attention hounds. Can't hurt to offer, right?

I get what you're saying, but it's faulty logic. I know women like Dr. Sievers who are the family breadwinners and have very busy schedules. Their husbands are freeloaders and use their free time selfishly pursuing their own interests or piddling away their time on leisure. The wife maintains a busy work schedule as well as running the household, caring for the kids, and getting them to various activities. They run themselves ragged and astonishingly are made to feel guilty by their worthless husbands for not being enough of a wife and mother. It's not uncommon at all.

I totally agree with you. These poor dogs have been left alone for too long. They need regular human interaction more than just what they get when someone goes over there to feed them.

Maybe one of you super sleuthers can point me in the direction of which vet cares for the Siever's dogs? I would be very thankful for any help I could get....no Internet at my house, just smartphone with crappy internet service (I'm looking at you Sp$@nt)

Edited to add: not for the usual sleuthing purposes, so maybe a pm?

Yes it is getting to be long at this point. But the family had their lives turned upside down. I do believe the dogs are probably depressed. But that is to be expected in a time like this. And I don't know what the long term plan is or what other options exist for the dogs.
But I do agree, this shouldn't go on permanently.

Not “faulty logic”, as many breadwinner wives have husbands who are entirely engaged with the household, children, and family.

And, Teresa thought Mark was “wonderful” and “supportive, according to her FB page:
ABOUT TERESA - “I am married to a wonderful, supportive guy. . . “

It appears that TS started her FB account September 2012. At that time, TS and MS would have been married almost 9 years, with 2 young children.

Was MS a selfish freeloader? I don’t know, but apparently his wife didn’t think so, because a freeloader husband isn’t typically referred to as “wonderful” and “supportive” by their wife on her FB page.

Of course, a skeptic could think that TS didn’t write those words on her FB page. MS could have written those flattering sentiments about himself on her FB page; or CWW, with his IT expertise, could have inserted those lovely words.

So, if MS is “a wonderful, supportive guy“ (according to TS), then I think he was probably the primary caretaker of the family pets.

Do we know that is who the Sievers' used as their regular vet? Or is that who was called to check on them the day LE and Animal Control showed up? I have no idea. I just always assumed since it was a van advertising as doing "house calls" they were probably summoned by Animal Control.

SeesSeas, I love the way you think. I truly admire that you're always giving MS the benefit of the doubt, when so many of us are leaning the other way. We need that balance around here!

That said, I don't think you'd have to believe MS hacked her FB and posted all those glowing words to be a skeptic. Heck, I'm skeptical about 75% of the glowing, gushing stuff I see people posting about their spouses, kids, etc..on Facebook. I think most people withhold the ugly details. And, frankly, I'm glad they do because I really, really hate it when people air their dirty laundry on social media.

Thanks beach. I agree with you about glowing, gushing FB sentiments that most people post.

But, from all that I’ve read about TS, she strikes me as an extraordinarily authentic person. I don’t think she would write something ‘fake’ about her husband. If she felt inclined to even ‘fake it’ a little bit, maybe she would write “I am married to a great guy.“ Instead, she wrote “I am married to a wonderful, supportive guy“. It seems to me that she gave considerable thought in using the words 'wonderful' and 'supportive'.
