ThoughtFox, as I was reading your reply I was thinking. We are speaking about a couple whose daughter's fund has MILLIONS of DOLLARS on it so money should NOT be an issue here at all. If I was my kid, and I had that kind of money available, I would literally jump in putting money for that search. I would be embarrassed that a complete stranger is financing the search for MY KID on his own. But that's just me.

So it was approximately 13 days before the famous 19 minute jog. However the blog indicates it was not the first time the McCanns had gone jogging after Maddie disappeared.

Interesting. I'm not sure what I think about this. Exercise can be a great way to release stress and clear your head. Seems kind of odd though that at a time when you are probably not very physically strong from all the worry, meetings, phone calls, etc. that you would time yourself and than brag about it. I wonder how long it takes a normal/average person to make that jog? Hmmmmm.......

one thing - they are still as we are continually reminded - prime suspects or arguidos in portugal . they cant exactly march in and start coordinating searches in the country where the LA considers them the perps -

illegal or not - I think that until the PJ make their move either follow through and charge them or release them from arguido status - then they have no right whats so ever to march into portugal and start handing out towels flasks of coffee or whatever - they are suspects in a murder case .

and I repeat again I am fed up with the PJ whining about the mcaans doing this and that - STEP UP do what police around the world do start making some desicions here - be police

This means the world is probably coming to end, so some of you need to get right with God and all that. You can probably skip returning those library books and

Seriously, I don't fault the McCanns for not flying back to assist or pay for any searches in the resevoir. If they are involved, then they would logically stay home. If they aren't, then flying to every search location is not feasible or practical. Gerry McCann is back at work, the twins are back in their home routine, neither parent is free to just take off and search multiple possible locations.

If Madeleine had been taken near their home, I would expect them to be out with all searches, but not to fly anywhere else for searches. As for paying for it, again, if they are involved, then why would they want to give any money for something that they either a) know is futile, because they know where Maddie is or b) help produce evidence of their guilt. If they are not involved, then using any funds anyone offers up only makes sense. If you take small contributions then why refuse big ones? It's one and the same if you are collecting donations at all.

Of course, this means that one can't play the "the McCanns are criticized for everything they do, no matter what they do they are going to be condemned." We'll have to retire that one like a Barry Bonds trading card.

no I didnt - on balance I think that the board of the fund should certainly consider financial assistance ( i know most of you think that the fund is like soem personal bank acct to G & K ) - but the fund is controlled by a board who have to make decisions on how it is spent - rightly or wrongly .

I am sure that they are watching the situation closely - I have no idea who this guy is who is searching - I dont know what his background is , what is motivation is , - I dont even know if the PJ have searched this particular lake previously or not.

I was thinking last night that how crazy and mixed up this case is where the two major suspects to the crime are being criticised for not funding a search into said crime - I mean talk about a confliction of interests - think about it - what other police investigation would you get the major suspects being encouraged to turn up at potential crime scenes and do the searching ?

Isn't your motto "innocent until proven guilty"? therefore if their hands are clean, they are supposed to show some sort of concern in looking for their daughter, not so?. Financially assisting the search should be one. In my opinion of course.

innocent until proven guilty - certainly isnt my motto - it was used way before i came into this world - as much as would like to claim it ! I believe it undermines most civilised democratic justice systems - and is the basis for a free and just society - I certainly belive in it - dont you ?

It is strange. It's also strange that the prime suspects are receiving funds from the rich and famous to do so. Speaking from my point of view, and others I've talked with, when the McCanns agreed to except the million plus in donations to help find Madeleine, they agreed to take lead in this investigation. After all, they call it the, "find Madeleine Fund".

Oh I understand that - though I think the PJ might have a slightly different view point as to who should take the lead in the investigation


I suppose there will always be disagreemnet on how best the money is being spent - are Metado 3 any good - are the adverts posters etc working - well could probably say no - as Maddy has not been found .

It is one of the strangest cases I have read about / studied

The mail today is printing that they will be released from arguido status in months as the PJ have nothing - no idea about that as the Mail usually prints dribble -

I do think that in the next few months /maybe weeks the PJ will either have to charge them or drop the status - as surely this cant just drag on indefinatley

well it does seem they are doing more stalling than working on new evidence - it all seems to be grinding to a halt - but maybe they will surprise us -

There does seem to be a lot of confusing utterings coming out of the the PJ at the moment ( all based on newspaper reports such as 24 horas , mail etc so not sure of validity )

the lastest headline today is that there are more important things going on in the PJ than looking for Madeline - hmm who knows what is happening within the hallowed corridors of the Portugese PD

when the new guy came in I thought he would have kicked some butt and got things moving -
