The Letters and the Secret Evidence

We know Maya wasn't making it up, because LE went to the third party and obtained the letters that were written to Robyn.

They did hide letters, and talked in the vent.

From what I can gather of the story, the guard was passing the notes between Casey and Robyn. Maya ratted Casey out and they searched Robyn's cell.

I think it was Casey talking to Maya...

Due to not reading every post, I am forced to ask a stupid question.

Did Casey have a stack of letters hidden in her cell at any time? What did Casey do with the letters she received from Maya and Robyn?

Maya never said she knew where the letters were. Maya knew about the existence of the letters (presumably because KC told her), and LE went to talk to Robyn in federal prison, who spilled the beans.

Recapping - By George I think I've got it!

Maya and KC did not write letters, they talked through the vent. By talking through the vent KC told Maya she had previously written notes to Robyn. Maybe KC even said something like so 'maybe we can write notes too'.

Maya told the Officials at the prison that KC told her that she and Robyn had been writing notes back and forth.

Prison officials visited Robyn, who is now in Federal Prison, and grilled her about Maya's verbal report that KC had told her that Robyn and KC has shared notes and a guard had assisted in passing them back and forth.

Robyn reluctantly told prison officials that, yes, it is true and that a third party person on the outside of jail or prison now had the notes.

Prison officials then visited the still unnamed outside person and obtained the notes which have been reviewed by the prosecution and later by the defense.

Maya never wrotes notes that we know of / We don't know the name of the outside person who was holding the notes for Robyn / We are waiting - hopefully - for the release of the notes next week / We don't know if any related notes were found in KC's cell.

Does this sound right?

Finally found this little tidbit of info on that site.

Oh those poor employees, why do I have a nagging feeling they are inundated with frivolous motions filed by the defense ? I hope not!

I really don't think we will find any bombshells in these letters. Probably more stupid KC babble, nothing more.

The real value to them is simply they are KC's own words. The jury will be able to hear KC speak without her actually testifying on the stand. And I'm betting that while there is no direct evidence to what happened to Caylee. There are probably enough inconsistancies with stories that she has directly told LE, and been recorded telling, that the letters will probably illustrate her habit of untruths bs storytelling, wholly in her own words. Without having to rely on 3rd party testimony. That can be extremely powerful to a jury.

Remember no matter what legal talking heads will say about the burden of proof lying with the prosecution, the jury will look at it a little diferently in the case of an obviously murdered child. If the defendant is proven to be lying in their own words in this manner, the jury will be prone to not only dismiss the defendants own words as further lies, but any and all theories or alternate scenarios or claims of innocence that the defense team or the defense lawyers come up with as simply more of the same.

My calculation is that the time period ended on Friday, April 2nd. That is 15 days from the day Judge S. said the Defense had 15 days to file a Motion, which was at the Indigency Hearing on March 18, 2010. Unless you count Friday, April 2nd as a Holiday – “Good Friday” …. then the deadline extends to end of day on Monday April 5th.

Does anybody know if the letters will automatically be released to the media/public at end of day on Monday if no Motion to seal was filed by that time? Or, does the media have to make a public records request in order to get the letters? How long will it take for a records request to be processed?

ITA. IMO, what will be noteworthy about KC's letters is the complete lack of the word "Caylee" other than to protest her innocence. There will be no grieving for her daughter, only grief for her present predicament. If this is the case, the prosecution will absolutely use it against her. In any case, I can't wait to read these letters and hear what the talking heads have to say. Letters written by a sociopath should make for interesting analysis.

Yes, it is absolutely conceivable, IMO. The thought of it makes me nauseous.

Although Baez has committed some really questionable acts, even he isn't going to take a fall under the bus for something like this. And KC certainly wouldn't take any blame for the letter writing IF Baez told her to do it. Now I can see Baez planting a seed without giving KC direct instructions to write those letters.

No, I believe KC did this on her own using her manipulative ways to get the letters passed. She probably felt superior after the first 10 or so letters and really felt like the queen bee she envisions herself being on the pod when the total amount of letters passed was 50 and she had a secret her defense team :waitasec: didn't know about until recently.

Has anyone checked the visitors log to see who and how long any member of the defense team has been with her since this news broke?

I would think the letters are not totally useless, according to the State's Motion to seal them, and according to several media reports.
I think it will be interesting to learn if KC knew either of the other inmates BEFORE KC went to jail - on the outside? And in what capacity she knew them?

The defense has until Friday to decide whether to ask the judge to seal Casey's letters from the public. The judge has already said he's not inclined to seal them.
WFTV was told the letters hold relevant and damning information about Casey and the murder case against her.

I see in Richard's latest column he reports a Court Clerk wouldn't say what was in the letters, but classified them as "drivel".
