1. you are not going crazy. I remember that casings were supposed to be collected. I think the original call was for a gunshot wound, but I never saw anyone report hearing a gun fired.

2. I'm tired of digging right now, but on one incarnation of The World According to Raven he had more pictures saved on the dog than Janet.

Something very odd here. Yesterday CTV had a Thread on this case, that is were I first heard of it. Came over here right away to see what the wonderful WS'ers were saying. Anyhow I just went back there and they have no thread it is gone they have nothing on this.

I wonder if Janet tried to fight back.
I know they did "trace" on her hands to see if she had fired a gun.
Maybe she had a gun out while im'ing a colleague at work because she heard a noise or something?? Maybe (pure speculation here) her husband said he was going to the soccer game... actually WENT to the game.... left in the middle of it, went home, staged a home invasion/robbery... Janet was online instant messaging a colleague, told her she heard a noise, went to check it out, told her colleague "be right back" ... grabbed a gun and she was going to shoot him (thinking he was an intruder) and he stabbed her?

Is it possible that he was going to fake a robbery to get insurance money?
Nah...

I don't know ... I watch too many "unsolved mysteries" episodes.

Janet Christiansen Abaroa, SVU Class '00

Buena Vista, VA, Apr 26, 2005

President Smith regrets to inform the SVU family of the death of Janet Christiansen Abaroa, SVU Class of '00. Janet Christiansen Abaroa, 25, died on April 26, 2005. Her body was found in her home in Durham, NC.

Janet Christiansen Abaroa attended Southern Virginia University as a freshman in August 1998. As a freshmen Mid-Fielder, from Annandale, VA, Janet was a pioneer who helped make history at SVU as a member of the inaugural women's soccer team. She helped lead her team to back-to-back National Small College Athletic Association (NSCAA) Championship victories in 1998 and 1999. Her sister and teammate Erika Christiansen was also a member of the 1999 championship team and SVU Class of '03. Janet graduated with her Associates Degree in Social Sciences in Dec. 2000.

Janet was a Scholar Athlete. After taking a year off to be with her husband, Raven Abaroa, she returned to SVU in August 2001 to complete her last two years. As an upperclassmen, Janet received post-season honors as a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Academic All-American (cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher) in 2001 & 2002. She was a member of the President's Honor Roll (4.0 GPA), USCAA Player of the Week (Oct. 1-7, 2001) and a member of the USCAA All-Tournament Team in 2002. Janet experienced great athletic accomplishment, academic success and spiritual development during her 4 years at SVU.

A scholarship will be established in Janet's memory to benefit a student-athlete on the women's soccer team. Gifts made to the SVU Development Office in Janet's memory will be used to establish the Janet Christiansen Abaroa Pioneer Scholarship. To contribute to this scholarship, checks should be made out to Southern Virginia University, with a notation that the gift is in memory of Janet Christiansen Abaroa. On-line donations can also be made through the Development Office Website. ...tells us a lot...silently....especially the fact that they took samples of Raven's clothing, both what he was wearing and clean stuff/stuff he had not just been wearing, presumably... (as a control for testing, probably)...

Does anyone know what soccer game was on the 25th and where? I have tried to find out what game was happening that night, but being from the NE, I have had difficulty finding anything out there. I am not familiar with NC or soccer teams *at all* (my kids never had *any* interest in the game! Go figure!). I ask only because someone close to Raven mentioned how important the game is to him and why he attended.

I doubt that you would find a listing for the soccer match. My 33 y.o. son still plays soccer in a league and has matches on any given day. They won't be listed anywhere. Some people come to just watch. There are hundreds of soccer matches happening all over the country every day.

......i did pick up on a couple of things, prior to reading the same on a post shortly after..ie:

...that bikini pic was definitely photoshopped, ( and badly at that...) why?
...the message between co-workers...i also suspected a messenger board, as in:

"gtg,i think someone's out there...brb.."......................and then she never responded....

...the baby pics on raven's site.....................freaky!

I tried to follow that one up as well. Raven mentioned a professional team DC United. Anyway there are two pictures of a man in a DC jersey. Same man is in the swimming pool with the baby. I tried to identify him through DC website on the roster, but no dice.

I finally got around to checking out the bikini picture in photoshop. All I can say is wow ... definitely photoshopped and definitely STRANGE. She appears to be sticking her tonge out, and something was done to her face / nose. Also you can discern a black line around parts of her body.

Regarding the baby pictures, my daughter's reaction to that strange one with the light fixture blackened was "someone is trying to remove the light from that baby's life."

I don't even know what to say about his photoshop / photography skills.

Gosh, I thought noone was every going to mention that Janet was sticking her tongue out in the bikini picture. Wondered if I were imagining things. She surely does not look happy in that picture.

The bed picture (Dad and baby) seemed to me no more than a joke picture. Baby bawling, lying on Dad's tummy, and Dad "bawling" too. Just a funny picture, or trying to be. Therefore, "We want our mommy" doesn't seem out of place.

So much for that picture.

Doesn't it seem that Janet might have been attacked at the door where the blood was, and ran upstairs to the bedroom before "he" caught and killed her.

What kind of sorry world do we live in?

I'm going to look closely on the Internet for her obituary. Surely her parents, if not her husband, would have put one in a newspaper by now.

DURHAM - Janet Marie Abaroa, 25, died at her home, on Tuesday, April 26, 2005.
Janet worked as an accounting representative and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Janet Marie Abaroa is survived by her husband, Raven; son, Kaiden; parents, Val and Janet Christiansen, eight brothers and sisters and her grandmother, Janet Layton.

I live in Salt Lake City (huge mormon population) and I have not heard about this case on any local news stations...although, I am not surprised! Although, I am not mormon, most my family members are and whoever said they all have 'good teeth'...thanks for the chuckle! Most my family members have great teeth, although my uncle is a dentist so go figure.

I will say, I am surprised that this isn't making more news...historically, any case affiliated with mormons, tends to spur intrigue.
