It only costs on classmates if you want to upgrade your membership. I wouldn't have signed up if it cost anything.

I don't know why he embezzled funds all I can think of is that he didn't want people to think he was in financial trouble(selling cars, etc).
he has a profile listed, you cannot list a profile if you don't pay. I know, i have been a member for a while too :)

Are you Raven by chance??

A couple of things...

I've heard from one of Raven and Janet's coworkers who says he knows with assurety of at least 2 separate incidents in which Raven was unfaithful. This person has pm'd others on this board as well, so some of you may have received that information as well.

Someone mentioned a page back that they were peeved that Raven had taken money from the Church when he had all those toys. I can assure you that the Church sat down with him and went over his finances with him in order to determine what needed to be cancelled to save money, i.e. cable, satellite, club memberships, etc. They would also look at things he could liquidate (nonessential items, i.e. additional cars, motorcycles, etc.). Being that the Church only paid one month of rent for them may indicate that Raven was unwilling to conform to his leader's counsel on the budget, hence, the landlord giving them a few months of rent-free living. No one takes advantage of the Church.
Thank you for informing others about Church policy. However, some Bishops are a little more relaxed than others. Mine would not have okayed the request unless they did sell one of their vehicles

he's too proud to let people know he has financial trouble so he steals? Wow, I think I would've swallowed my pride first and stole second.

Sorry, hope I didn't seem rude. It's interesting to type to people who knew the person we've been writing about.
Please forgive me...

Well unless the financial hardship is viewed as long-term, they wouldn't expect you to do anything drastic. I'm sure Raven was encouraged to rid himself of many of those excess items, but if you're in immediate need, no one (relaxed or not) is going to wait for you to sell something before they extend help. That's ludicrous and certainly not Church policy.

MissYouJanet, maybe you could clear up something that is nagging at me . . .

Why didn't the family take the opportunity to plead with the public to cooperate with law enforcement and call in any tips or leads during their interview?

If it is an immediate need they wouldn't, but they knew for at least 2 months that they needed help. The Church does require that you go to your family first.

MissYouJanet... could you help me/us update our timeline at the top of the thread.... there's some stuff I have wrong.

Kaiden's birthdate was in october 2004 right?
I have listed August (I am a knucklehead).

Are there any other dates or things I have wrong? If you could help shed some light that would be great. If not, I understand. I feel like I've bombarded you since you posted!!

Do you know what Janet's reaction was when she found out about the embezzlement charges?

As I said before the family has forgiven the person who did this. For them this is over. They will let the police carry out their investigation but they have put it to rest.

Seems like her sister was really broken up on the TV interview the other night. I didn't get the same impression that you're suggesting but you know them and I don't. And the media can spin anything. It just seemed like the one sister who was talking the most during the interview is not settled with accepting this.
I can imagine this is tearing them up.... that letter that JAne'ts niece wrote to her and she read on TV was so heartbreaking.

Can this be copied & pasted? I'm having trouble getting into web sites today.
This is the poem written by Raven's brother, Derek:
Janet

i know what everyone else will say but the reason she's not here tonight, she's taken an early flight
you ask who will make my sack lunched, who will wake up Kaiden for the day?
who will give me my older brothers clothes when a dirty traveler has no hope?
who will raise the next prophet down the line when she's left before her time?
i don't care what they say, i'm convinced she's just gone on a holiday.
be it christmas eve, halloween, easter or mothersday, it's a holiday.
on that big cruise ship in the sky, sun tanning by Jesus' side.
while we writhe and cry she'll be alright, the bahamas in the sky, on holiday.

the youth in our blood sometimes runs dry,
leaves wither and fall marches by,
huskies play on east coast days,
colonial houses creak in september weeks,
brother explore haunted river side dwellings,
she kissed her son and waited for our arrival,
reaching back a film in black and white,
memories become our antiques,
to feed our starving bellies for the next week,
while she's gone on holiday,
i think it's safe to say she's playing shuffle board with angels today,
in the sky on holiday.
