The ransom note - Patsy or intruder? It's all in the detail.

The handwriting is sloppy. The spelling is bad. The choice of words was unusual. To account for this, RDI is forced to declare that PR deliberately misspelled business, switched hands, and picked words to throw off LE. These claims are not verified by any official.

Low command of the English language, and odd choices for words makes perfect sense for FFDI. Go figure.

The note only has two misspelled words that I can see, business/bussiness and possession/posession. To me, if the spelling was really bad, the note would look something like this-

The writer of the RN shows a very good command of English, actually. Command of language and spelling mistakes are not related at all. While someone to whom English is unfamiliar will, of course, make spelling errors, they will always make grammar/usage errors. I do not see that at all here. And most foreign langiage speakers use the same alphabet as English, so they will know exaxctly how to form letters. The few languages that use a different alphabet- Chinese, Korean, Russian, Greek, Arabic, etc. will also use phrasing that has a different sound to it. The writer of THIS RN was American and spoke perfect English.

And if you think about the swapping of "delivery" and "Pick-up"- that makes sense, too. A "delivery" to a home where the parents (and possibly LE) would be waiting and on the lookout for approaching cars or even pedestrians would be insanity from the point of view of a real kidnapper. A "pick-up" makes much more sense- it can be done in a neutral location- where the child can be left in plain sight without the kidnappers having to be seen. A real kidnapper would never have made that mistake in a note- but someone constructing a fake note, which they had lots of time to read and re-do, would have changed it (and they did).

If one reads the note with the writer's original mindset, the person who delivers the money is the one who delivers the daughter, imo. In other words, the money is synonymous with the daughter.

Has it honestly (and I am asking you this sincerely and politely) ever entered your mind that that most RDI's of whatever belief were not at one point IDI's hanging on for dear life trying to hold on to the illusion that a parent(s) would not could not have done this to their own child, That most of us were literally ill when we no longer had the comfort of denial? That this has no basis in tabloid fodder at all? Or did it not enter your mind that poor people love their children just as much as anyone does? This was not about the money, unless you consider a poor person ten times more likely to be prosecuted succesfully. I am serious when I ask you this. That our beliefs are influenced by the evidence. It is not a comfortable position for RDIS of whatever stripe to grasp that Jon Benet died at the hands who were to have loved and protected her, it was not an easy thing to consider or it sure was not for me. That is my opinion and my heartbreak both.

I would avoid misspelling the word 'business' when turning in a high school English paper, or the teacher won't think you 'had quite a high command of the English language'. Especially if the handwriting looks anything like the RN. LOL

Of course you're entitled to your own opinion.

The only explanation RDI can come up with so far is that the word was deliberately misspelled to dumb down the note. Now how could PR dumb down the note, and still leave the impression of a good command of the English language? Did PR dumb it down or not?

IDI isn't having this problem, because its clear the perp, whoever it is, is confused about those pesky double-esses. How you can derive a high command of the English language from this is beyond me. The sentence structure was very good, but you're glossing over a glaring spelling issue here.

JMO, did you know Jacques was a bichon frise, which is French for "curly-haired lap-dog (or small dog)." They were originally little circus street dogs originating on Malta or nearby in Portugal. I lean toward your theory, Tea. I think the writer was so upset and trying to run two themes through their already terrified mind, however, I think they were consciously thinking: how do I make this note look like a real ransom note and how do I keep it from looking like I wrote it. Conflict, pure and simple, multiplied times over because of overwhelming stress.

Yep, Jacque, Jacque #2, Pierre, JonBenet, ...and attache.....all french words. She even gave her garden statue a French name....how stupid is THAT? OH, and even JB's pediatrician, Dr. Beuf....(I think I spelled it right) is a French term, meaning BEEF.
