The State Rests in the State v Jodi Arias: break in trial until 28 January 2013 #10

I don't see him getting shot first.

For one thing there is not much blood from that wound and he would have been incapacitated. Why so much blood in the bathroom and down the hall?

You can tell the blood from the head wound just went straight down his face.

Why 29 stab wound on head, back, neck, front, etc if already shot in the head?

Some of the wounds look like he was moving, others are packed together.

The gunshot path looks to me to be from someone standing over a prone body. It goes from the top of the head downward. No way he could have been standing in the shower and got shot there.

IMO, he was shot first. It makes much more sense. He was sitting on the floor of the shower stall. Jodi had a camera, probably in her right hand, and pulled a gun from her striped pants with her left or had it hidden behind her in her left hand. She probably clicked a flash picture to blind him for a second as she pointed the gun and aimed a downward trajectory into his head, from his right side with a .25, which is a slow velocity weapon in the first place. (My husband says "everyone knows you do not expect to kill anyone with a 25." I didn't know that.) The bullet did not even have enough speed to penetrate the left side of his face. It lodged in his left cheek. Makes sense from the position he was sitting in the last picture. Also makes sense in terms of the rest of the crime scene. She did not expect him to survive the gunshot and had to scramble to get him down as he tried to escape. Also, the medical examiner did not state that he knew for certain which wound came first. He left some leeway. It was his opinion that it was the knife wound. But, think of how awkward that would have been for her to drop the camera from her right hand, grab the knife to attempt an upward thrust to his heart. The angle would have been wrong if she had had the knife in her left hand. Additionally, she turned on the shower after stuffing Travis in it, which would have removed blood from his face and possibly gun powder traces.

When I was in court Wed. Jodi and her female atty were giggling about something while the interrogation tapes were being played that day. Seeing the jury looks straight ahead at the huge screen, she would be more in their line of sight than when looking at a witness. It bugged me that her attorney found her a person so charming she could share a private joke with. SHE SLAUGHTERED AN INNOCENT PERSON, i said (on the inside):furious:

PS it's Nurmi but I like Numbi better so I'm stealing it. :D

I've only seen him speak with JA once and that was before trial one day. Most days it's like he doesnt even acknowledge her existence. I don't get the impression he enjoys being her public defendant. He makes me nervous when he gets up to cross... not sure why. I'm NOT a Nurmi/Numbi fan...

I heard Beth say there ARE lesser includeds. I paid close attention too. Is that wrong?

You may well be right. If you heard Beth specifically saying there are lesser includeds I would go with your version over mine; I just have yet to hear someone specify that.

Maybe someone will get a chance to look into it over the next week or maybe I'll do it myself!

Didn't he try to get off the case and the judge made him stay on?

She said they could convict her of 2nd degree or manslaughter. Nobody argued with her so I assumed it was correct. I'd actually hate to see 1st degree be their only choice because I don't want her to walk out of there.

My on-screen guide confirms tomorrow night's 48 Hours is the "New" JA episode-

Picture Perfect: The Trial of JA: A report on the trial of JA, who claims she killed her boyfriend Travis Alexander in self-defense in 2008

This is the extent of my sleuthing for the evening. Too tired.

IMO anything less than death will be a win for the defense.

He tried to get off and when he couldn't he requested more money and then had the court umm forget what it is called but they sealed the books so people couldn't see what the defense is getting paid and paying out.

I thought they announced the 48 Hours show was going to be allowed?

Didn't his friend and his friend's wife say words to the effect that TA was definitely seeing several women and the wife said she thought TA was wrong in continuing the sex with JA. And they loved TA and were not condemning him or blaming him.

And there were the text messages sent the week before his murder to JA asking for naughty pics.

Of COURSE she murdered him. Of COURSE she stalked him (harder to prove in court), but whether he allowed her in and had consensual sex with her that last day is a little ambiguous and might influence jurors.

Just because I think jurors might have some doubts does not mean I think JA is in any way innocent! I am just positing what the jury might process.

It's getting kind of scary to have an opinion in here.
Chris and Sky Hughes? Or someone else if you remember? Travis had a lot of married friends.

To my knowledge (and really it's just what I've pieced together, heard, read, etc.) Travis was pursuing dating trying to find the 'one'. They weren't relationships per se though - they were dates. Jodi is the only one that we know of that he was having sex with. Ever.

At the time he was murdered I really don't know if Travis was seeing anyone. Mimi had made it clear she only wanted a platonic relationship but they were still going to Cancun.

He'd had a girlfriend, a real relationship, last I know of the December before during the stalking. In fact his New Year's affirmation for 2008 was to be better in relationships iirc. I have no idea of her name, when they broke up, or anything though. That info remains elusive.

I have decided it doesn't really matter to me which was first.

She was prepared.

I am much more interested in how the defense (and JA too IMO) seemed very interested when the investigator said he thought the gun shot was first.
I'm afraid they will try to use that in some way to say she only had it for protection... and he attacked her. All the rest was due to fear and panic.

Wow.
I'm really sorry I asked. I simply thought maybe there was an interesting interview or something I hadn't read about JA's past.
And I'm sorry I provided a link to what info I knew about diagnosing psychopathy - didn't know it would get me treated like this.
I can see I'm not welcome here.

Oh, please stay. Sometimes it takes time to get use to posters and I'm sure there was no ill will towards you.

There is info on some of the earlier threads that are now closed but you can view them about the signs of a psychopath. I'd look myself but it's getting late. Maybe one of us can find it for you tomorrow since things have slowed down. Have a good night and please do stay. We miss you already.

I'd be okay with LWOP were it not for Travis' family wanting the DP so badly. I want it for them.

doesn't matter when it started.. it matters what the PROGRESSION was and those are well documented.

Travis is seen alive..

Travis is seen being dragged back down the hall with blood running down his neck.

couple that with what we saw what was done to his body.. this woman has a lot of explaining to do if she is pleading "defense"

moo

Yes, indeed -- isn't there something about equal force? But they'll say he was much stronger than she (and I feel sure he was if they were both unarmed).

So, where did she get the gun? Where the knife? Those are the answers from her I'd like to hear. Protection for her as she was traveling such a long way from home? Oh, and I'm sure that TA had that little 25 in his bathroom? And he always keeps a knife in there, too.

I read in the comment section of Headline News (I think) where someone claimed that there was no gunshot residue (not sure that's the correct term) in JA's bloody palm print. Their point being that she couldn't have been the one to fire the gun.

I'm not buying but damn it would explain the DT's fight to get the gun shot first.

Welcome BTW! I agree with you, Mimi has dark hair and drives a white car. I don't think it is co-incidential.

As we have seen JA do in court... she always seems to act like a cameleon as if she's taking on the identity of other people (dressing and doing the glasses like her female attorney) It's bizarre! Makes me wonder who the 'original' blonde was that she was trying to emulate? JA is one CREEPY woman!!

Hey b.
You have to have a gun for an abusive boyfriend. Gun came from GPs... but she threw it away in the panic afterwards (not sure where, she was in shock). Knife was in the bedroom because Travis was like that with scary knives.
