ppl keep mentioning that the prosecution is making a mistake by making TA to wonderful a person and it will backfire - but - IIRC the only person they had on the stand that talked about TA was mimi, and she didn't extoll his virtues to much - all of the statements about TA are being made by his friends and family outside of court to the media so the jury isn't privy to all that (hoping they are following the rules) so imo that won't be a problem for the jury

Good point polly!

I hate that (like Jodi wanting to peek at the pics to match her story to them) the defense will likely now tailor their defense to what has been presented.
That is, of course, if they are not being ethical. lol

do you think thats why the prosecution did such a short presentation, just proving she was there - the killer - and she is a liar - but didn't go into huge depth on the forensics - so they can catch her lying when defense goes into detail?

and how far back does this old boyfriend go? She lived with a guy for four years before she met Travis, from Travis she set her sights on Ryan.

I don't see how relevant an old boyfriend from circa 2002 or something is.

Depends on what she wanted from this boyfriend. JA would still be with TA had TA not sent her packing. She knew a good thing when she saw it and figured she could hold onto him permanently through a physical relationship. It's possible this was true with all her relationships with men but Travis was different. Travis also had a great support system of friends which JA did not appear to have from what we have heard. Should be interesting at the very least. jmo

I have never been on a jury. I am called but have too many personal experiences because of my job, so goodbye to me.

I do sit on a board where I live. For years.

We have rules. Legal statutes. But some people choose to ignore them or say they have to go with their conscience.

When you are to carry out statutes, you cannot go with your perceived conscience. The worst person for this on the board was a guy I have identified as a sociopath. My diagnosis and I am right.

Just because people are on a jury does not make them be ethical or not be sociopaths themselves or needy or whatever.

I have been jaded by the CA jury forever, I think

One thing that I learned on here that I never knew or guessed is that an abuser is not abusive to all partners.

I do not know where, but people posted about ex husbands and a father who was not abusive to the new spouse.

So, the domestic violence expert could be testifying to things that I never knew.

It does not matter then if TA was a prince to other gf's. Did he have any relationships that were as long as the one he had with JA?

Believe me, I want her to get LWOP . Don't believe in DP and it is too expensive.

I am just trying to figure out the angle that this domestic violence expert is going to spin. If she wants to be able to continue to have that title, she will spin it hard.

Although in the CA case, the grief expert ......!!!!!!!

Hi, Human. One thing to remember is that window of opportunity is very brief: It was just forty-five seconds between him without weapons taking an innocent shower and him suddenly being assaulted. The abusive defense appeared only after two alternatives were obliterated by forensic evidence.

Are you talking about the pic that was partially covered in the interrogation? If so, I assumed she was looking at her reclining naked pic. I thought she wanted a glimpse of her lady parts so she could admire them, right there in front of Det. Flores. LOL! Duh, me. So, she was looking at the rest of the pic so she could see the date/time stamp. Makes better sense!

Polly, I have found myself second guessing the way Juan handles certain things, only to remind myself that he's been through this once or twice, and knows what he's doing.
My fear is that the defense will keep track of what has been "proven", and change their strategy to fit in line with that, rather than presenting an honest representation of what their client has shared with them.

Totally agree.

But the DV expert may be spinning that TA was abusive because????

Did she get the info from JA or where is she going to spin this from?

[QU
OTE=polleypockets;8759437]well in her LE interview she kept saying she was innocent because the rest of her old BF's were still alive - maybe thats what he is going to say?? she didn't kill me???[/QUOTE]

Love that she was upset because things weren't progressing with Ryan because of the whole Travis thing :moo:

Sulasmith,
I believe her wanting to see ALL the pics had nothing to do with morbid fascination, but rather to tailor her story to jive with the evidence.
She asked many questions on the phone, and in the interrogations ( how many times was he stabbed?) so she could come up with a reasonable story to fit the evidence.
That's what I'm afraid the defense may do.

?? What do you mean by "if tv is allowed"?

He said only two channels allowed, one being the all time congressional and government chanell, lol! Forget the other one, but something like the weather chanell.

?? What do you mean by "if tv is allowed"?

On of the contributors to NG said the prisoners have cable tv, including ESPN, and many premium channels available to them.
This seems to be disputed by the sheriff.
I'm not concerned with their pleasure, but I don't want them seeing coverage of their own cases, and using parts of it in their defense.

A prior boyfriend, forget his name but is on the defense list, says he has seen bruising on Jodi's neck and a broken finger allegedly at the hands of Travis

Just reporting the facts it can be found here in a link to video of defense list

seek and ye shall find.

Sustained - I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing!! I know boys will be boys, but come'on!! They had to notice that it was a smell other than stinky feet!! Also, I wondered if there was a mutual understanding with the roommates about taking care of the dog - I mean, did they feed him all the time or only when Travis asked them to bc he'd be gone. When Mimi said Napoleon was going crazy at the door I was worried he hadn't eaten in a few days!

imhoo Travis was not made out either way (plus or minus in character) by the PA. They showed in their CIC that he was

1)murdered

2)murdered by a lying woman who changed her story multiple times

3)overkilled three times over

4)murdered with premeditation

It will be the defense that brings up the other alleged stuff about Travis.. The burden seems to have shifted.

fwiw I hope she gets the DP. She may never be strapped down and served it due to time limits and appeals.. but she deserves it and she needs to know that the people put her there for her crime.

Friends are your friends because they like you. In the same respect someone you might see on TV and not like, such as a defense attorney for example, you could meet at a cocktail party and really enjoy a conversation with them and think this person is really not what I thought.

Interactions between friends is far more intimate and accurate than just an impression of a person we read about. TA seemed to be like by both his friends and his associates alike. To most of us he seemed likeable. Since he was so successful in bringing people into the business with his motivational speeches I would think there were many who liked him and were inspired by him. It was not just an act, it was who he was and you can see it by what he wrote in his blog.

JA, however, was disliked by her associates at work and had very few friends. What does it tell you when one of the few witnesses she is calling for her defense was in maximum security with her???? No friends other than a cellmate and an old boyfriend. jmo

For the sake of playing devil's advocate, let me point out that I can make a converse argument. We have to remember how the jury might view things, especially after the defense witnesses testify.

Regarding TA: If I was the defense, I could spin this to infer he was a hypocrite and a marketeer, and that this "Be Better Blog" was just a marketing tool to enhance his following, motivational speaker career and finances. It could be argued the fact that he had "a secret life" having a relationship under the radar with JA means no one really knew him at all.

Regarding JA: an expert on abuse could (and probably will) say that victims become isolated and forfeit friends and family due to their allegiance to the abuser, thus "no friends" (although what does that really matter?). In addition, there is shame associated with abuse, so withdrawal to protect one's secrets might be a telltale sign. But also, who said she was disliked by people at work?

I'm not saying any of this is in fact the case b/c I just don't have info... just pointing out how these things can be spun both ways.

nurse,
I am curious what T's family wants.
Do you think they would settle for LWOP if it meant the case was over?
(I'm pretending she pleas )
