How would you ever sleep, after having to do what she had to do, I mean self-defense and all ?

Speaking of sleep, I think the defense is going to bring up the subject of Jodi being sleep deprived in conjunction with being an abuse victim. I'm 95% sure I heard a reference to this at some point in the trial so far. Does anyone else remember this being brought up, or did I hear it from a talking head?

Ok so after some more research, I figured out the following:

Jodi bought the hair color in Salinas @ 3:22 pm
There was a CVS purchase in Pasadena @ 8:31 pm

It takes around 5 hours to get from Salinas to Pasadena so no time to color hair in between the two.

Her last purchase in Pasadena was around 8:46 pm
She arrived at Travis's around 4 am

It takes 6 hours to get from Pasadena to Mesa so there is about an hour unaccounted for. Time to color hair before getting to Travis's house.

I think this shows that between Pasadena and Mesa is when Jodi colored her hair brown.

MOO

Interesting find! I wonder if this was Travis's first time seeing JA with brown hair and what his thoughts were on that she dyed it before coming. She obviously would have still smelled of hair dye...hmmm :waitasec:

Depends on the brand- I use ones that are Ammonia-Free.

Granted, I'm not very girly, but it takes a professional at least an hour to color my hair, not including the drying and styling part. I can't imagine being able to do it in a rest stop in an hour, max, and be back on the road just like that. Especially covering up blond. It's just not that easy to do if your hair is naturally dark, ime. Not to mention that no one's said they saw her do it and there's no cctv of her entering anywhere as a blond and exiting as a brunette that I know of. Plus, it seems to me it would be pretty unusual for someone to color their hair in a truck stop shower. Unusual enough that someone would notice (I realize it's possible someone did notice and just doesn't know anything about the case or want to come forward)

Maybe she did it at Travis's house. There was plenty of time. You would think there would have been some evidence in the bath or trash, but maybe not and I haven't heard any testimony about what all they found in the trash or even if it was searched -- although I'm sure it was.

She was traveling in the middle of the night so I'm not sure people would have been keeping track of her. It just seems more likely to use a truck stop shower than to have done it at his house. He most likely never knew she was coming. Why would she tell him she needed to color her hair right then???
There are brands you can leave on for just 25 min. and she didn't need to style it, only dry.

I imagine as a waitress she could make plenty in tips. Seriously.

But why put money into an account? Cash works everywhere.

Just had another thought on this. Are we sure it is a debit card, vs. A credit card?

Reason is that with debit cards, when you rent a car they temporarily put an additional security amount on the card. So she may have been told this by the rental car clerk (these were after rental right?) needed to ensure that amount was covered so she could then make the papertrail purchases with the debit card? :waitasec:

Actually quite wrong, depositing color is easy, lifting color takes time, higher peroxide, bleach etc but to deposit color can easily be done with 10 volume peroxide and a no-ammonia or a low ammonia dye, heck a dark rinse could color her hair as blonde as it was.

Maybe she went to a KOA campground and used a water pump.

And according to HER story, she hadn't slept the night before either!!
I believe it was something like talking to Ryan till the we hours, and then she was somewhere at 5 something AM.

AH - I see a defense claim here. Sleep deprived!! haha

She was talking to TA in the middle of the night on June 2, from around 3 to 4AM (phone records), then she was at a local gas station in Yreka at 5:30AM ish. So it sounds like she didn't sleep much that nite.

I don't do it often, since they are messy, even the foam ones, but in the last couple of years I've started to look like the Bride of Frankenstein, so I have to do it every couple of months, at least the root-touch ups. I like Garnier Nutrisse because they are Ammonia-Free.

This makes a lot of sense to me too. I think she would have done the dye job after seeing the people along the way she was planning to use as alibi witnesses. Of course, I don't know if she was lying about trying to visit the friend with the baby, the other in Santa Cruz, maybe so. But I still think she'd leave it blonde for the admitted/real part of her story/journey, and dye it for the covert part.

LOL :floorlaugh: I'll keep that brand in mind if I need to start one day!

Rental guy was Leslie's husband, lady who testified last for the State and is a friend of JA.
JA purchased 2, 3 gallon cans for fuel @ Walmart and could have had more in the trunk.
2 hair dyes could be because her hair is so long she may have required two. one bottle would cover someone with normal length hair.

Two facial cleaners, have no idea unless she was thinking about using them to remove blood stains. No sure it would work but they are cleaners. jmo

They were probably on sale and a good bargain.

I used to dye my hair often, not anymore. I have long hair, as long as Jodi's, and I had to use two boxes to cover all of my hair. I never had to use a plastic cap, a hair clip holding my hair up worked fine as I have no bangs. Jodi also at the time had no bangs so I imagine her hair would have been easy to keep up and off of her back/shoulders with just a hair clip as well. There is no need for any facial cleanser to removed the hair dye that gets on your face, soap and water will remove it just fine as long as you remove it before it begins to dry. There is also no need to blow dry your hair after you color it. Comb it out and let it air dry. Very easy to color her hair in under an hour. Not very messy for someone that colors their hair on a fairly regular basis either. I use our bathroom sink and never had any splash of coloring on the counter or anything else.

I still color my 15 year old daughters hair. She wants her hair red so we use two boxes. Also very easy to do and no mess is made. She does have bangs and we still do not need to use a plastic cap on her hair. Her hair is also done in under an hour.

We know she bought one five gallon can for sure. She may have bought/already had another one, giving her an additional 10 gallons. So if the car had a 13.5 gallon capacity and she had 10 additional gallons of space available, that makes 23.5. Is that within the capacity she purchased?

Ok, so if she fills up e

Verything, and assuming she can get thirty miles per gallon, gives her 405 miles. An extra five gallons gives her 555 miles before refueling needed, an extra 10 gallons gives her a total of 705 miles before refueling needed.

How does this fit with those of yall who did googling and mapquest?

Note. Says for 2011 focus that the car gets 25 mpg in city and 35 highway....so more miles could be garnered than the thirty I used.

I know it's more difficult process-wise to go from dark to light (believe me! I WISH I could get a natural looking blond but it simply can't be done with my hair color), but anytime I've ever had to cover up a shade much, much lighter than my natural color, it was a bigger production than just matching my natural color or similar. And, of course, I know it's not necessary to style -- maybe that's the reason for the braids, idk. That's why I said at least an hour not including drying and styling. I suppose the truck stop theory is possible, just doesn't seem likely to me. It's hard to tell from the braid pic. Maybe she just didn't do a great job.

RE: JA's $800 cash via 3 deposits

I like the pawn shop idea too. I waited tables before and I don't know what they pay in Cali but in Texas it's only $2.13/hour bc they know you'll make tips. In a family style restaurant in a town of less than 8,000 people I don't find it likely she had all that cash in addition to the cash she was spending along the way. Perhaps she made a little more as a bartender, but still seems far fetched in that type of setting. Now if she worked as a cocktail waitress or bartended in a "club setting" I would find all that cash more likely. JMO

I suspect she borrowed money from DB, and that's why she went there to visit him.

Jodi's mother lives in Redding, according to her Facebook page. I think Jodi simply colored her hair at her mom's house, prior to picking up the rental car in Redding.

It was my understanding the rental car agent remembered her renting the car with light colored hair and returning it as a brunette.

The car rental guy did say that when Jodi rented the car her hair was blonde, however he never said what color her hair was when she returned it.

Going back home to get more gas cans is a ninety miles drive in the wrong way, then another ninety miles back to get back on track of your destination.

Doesn't her mom live in Redding? Her FB page says she does.
