Regarding the doggy-door and if she could've fit through it.
You know what they say...where there's a willy, there's a way! ;)

On that note, I'm :offtobed:

Possible Gus story:

Fact: JA talked to TA for around an hour between 3 and 4AM June 2. She then left at 530am-ish for her road trip.

Possible scenario:
She goes to Santa Cruz. According to a poster here who said she saw Gus' calendar, Gus was in Santa Cruz that evening, June 2. That would place both JA and GS at the same place where they may have talked.

What if JA confided to GS that she had spoken with TA earlier that morning, and that he wanted her to come to AZ (had suspicions she was going to UT to see 'another guy' and he had a pang of possessiveness). Jodi was struggling with this decision b/c although she was trying to "move on" and establish a relationship with Ryan B, she still loved TA. What if she confided that she was going to go to Mesa and try to sort things out with TA for either: 1) a permanent final stop to all contact; or, 2) a reconciliation to get back together.

Maybe that's what Gus is going to say. That could work FOR JA in that it shows more of a spontaneous trip, that TA had invited her and that they were still wrapped up in a mutual, albeit dysfunctional, relationship.

It could work AGAINST JA in that it definitely puts her as planning to go to TAs house that night. And maybe she told Gus she was going to stop by unexpectedly and surprise him. this would strengthen the premeditation part of the pros's case. (But then why would she even tell Gus this if she was planning to kill TA?)

Anyway, just thinking out loud here about Gus' information and what he might have to say.

Whatever she told Gus would be hearsay, self serving to the defendant, so the defense couldn't introduce it at trial.

Glad I am not on the jury. Of course we know JA shot and sliced TA and lied and lied and lied. But I don't see how her having a gun and knife with her necessarily points to premeditation. When I travel long distances I always carry a gun with me and I always have a pocket knife in the car.

I wonder what the jury will think. AZ is a pretty liberal gun state.
But are you going to carry/hold a concealed weapon on a person you supposedly just had sex with? And you said your pocket knife was in the car- not on you as well. You don't bring weapons to a photo shoot. All of the talking heads say she had both weapons on her to have killed him within the 2 min. window on the time stamps from the fear shot in the shower where he was alive, to the bloody, limp body ones.

I can't read fast enough to keep up. I have 2 comments that will not be relevant at this point:

1) If you are being abused by phone sex, hang up.

2) I missed the 'shark week' pictures but am imagining tentacles. Someone tell me if there were tentacles.

1) Sounds like good advice to me.

2) I saw teeth! Oh please, make it go away.

So, you would proceed to remain naked, bring out the big bottle of lube, potentially have sex with her, take pictures of her naked, take a shower with her there...

But not kick out the psycho girl that has been stalking you and is now in your house uninvited and unannounced?

Gotcha.

:waitasec:

I don't think he anticipated that allowing her to hang around would result in his brutal death.

Whether or not she was invited, and whether or not Travis knew she was coming - I think it is clear that at some point, at least, she was there with Travis' permission.

That does not mean that she wasn't psycho or that she hadn't stalked him or that she did not show up unannounced -- it means Travis used bad judgment and instead of calling the police to have her removed, he allowed her to hang around and then kill him.

I also think Gus Searcy is a sleaze..but he did not get to be the $100,000. Ring Earner by himself. Seems he motivated a lot of people to sign up for PPL/Legal Shield under him. That's how he got his ring. IMO, Chris Hughes did not win the "credibility battle". They both work for the same MLM. They both run their mouths off too much. IMHO.

Chris Hughes and his wife are creepy beyond belief, imo. They've injected themselves into the case from day one. And he's way scarier than Gus because he knows how to present as sincere and seem "normal." FUBAR all, imo.

Do you remember Victor Tooms, the creepy guy who could slither anywhere? He's who I was thinking of when I saw that doggy-door.

Perfect!!! :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Apologies if this was already posted.

If anyone wants a preview of the defense "expert", here you go. I might watch bits and pieces so I can build up a tolerance for her.

"Gender Fairytales and Domestic Violence" - Alyce LaViolette - 10/16/08 - YouTube

Ugh. She mentions Gloria Steinem in the first few moments. I doubt Gloria Steinem would approve of the garbage Alyce is going to spew on the stand.

For her insight on the Snow White/FairyTale theory, skip to 26:00.

OMG...I cannot relate to her at all! I was in High School in the 70's when women's lib was going strong. I loved Gloria Steinem..and I also doubt she would approve of the Fairy Tale crap from Ms LaViolette.

Helen Reddy was our "idol" No Fairy Tale crap for us back then.
Helen Reddy: "I Am Woman", from "The Midnight Special", 1975. - YouTube

Anybody know the ages of the female jurors? If they were young women in the '70's I don't see how in the heck they would buy the defense expert's testimony.

I am not a lawyer, but I don't believe the entire testimony would be considered hearsay because the witness would have seen the marks and could testify to them being there.

If Arias decided to be called upon as a witness, I believe that her having told the ex TA caused the bruises would fall under a hearsay exception. Otherwise, I'm not sure that her saying TA caused them would be allowed.

You are correct and this is basiclly what one of the defense attorneys was saying how his testimony could be allowed. According to NG, this mystery boyfriend evidentally saw the bruises on her neck himself some number of days prior to the murder and the boyfriend asked Jodi about them directly. So the boyfriend saw them and then heard her response as to why they were there. The people on the show said his testimony may be permissable and especially if Jodi comes along later to vouche for him that she was there and talked with him about the bruises.

I dunno. They were reportedly good friends of Travis'. If my good friend was murdered, I'd probably 'insert' myself too.
