If you listen to the testimony of Mimi Hall, she told Travis that they were only friends so technically he was not getting serious with anyone. What he may have led Jodi to believe we may never know...they seemed to enjoy making each other jealous.

He dated Lisa though, and he would have liked to date Mimi. He had moved on from Jodi IMO

ITA! The defense would have rather gone this route if they could rather than the ridiculous self defense claim.

She knew exactly what she was doing. She meant to do it and doesnt have one dab of remorse either.

IMO

ITA, blueeyes, but what other defense in the world could they have come up with?? They had so very little going in, and have gained nothing so far. It would be a nightmare to defend, especially with the absolutely sane freako at the end of their table. A horrible defendant. Worse than that Florida killer, IMO.

But it's impossible to pity the Def Team, but I hope we might, just a little, at the end of this thing.

Chris Hughes and his wife are creepy beyond belief, imo. They've injected themselves into the case from day one. And he's way scarier than Gus because he knows how to present as sincere and seem "normal." FUBAR all, imo.

Highly disagree! No disrespect but the only person who has fought harder for justice for Travis (other than Juan Martinez) is Chris Hughes. Travis was indeed loved by many and blessed to have friends who have stuck it out throughout this ordeal. MOO

I would be more likely to believe he drowned in the pool, then this self defense nonsense.

*ATL prints this out and slips it under the jury room door*

Truth:

Jodi and Travis were at one time openly dating - during that time Jodi lived in California and Travis lived in Arizona

They broke up in June 2007, and about a month later Jodi moved to Arizona and lived 7 minutes away from Travis. Jodi moved to Arizona because of Travis.

Travis was pissed about Jodi moving to Arizona and so close to Travis

Jodi did not have stable employment while she was in Arizona. Travis paid her to occasionally clean his house.

Travis and Jodi fought in front of other people about Jodi showing up at Travis' house and hanging around uninvited

Jodi accessed Travis' facebook, gmail and phone. Travis confronted her about the invasion of privacy a couple of weeks before Jodi killed Travis

Jodi snooped through Travis' text messages while Travis was napping. Jodi sent a message to a girl from Travis' phone and pretended to be Travis saying "time to snuggle with Jodi"

Travis and Jodi traveled to several locations together. It is so far unknown what time period these trips took place.

After Travis and Jodi "officially" broke up, Travis dated other people. Jodi did not ..until Ryan. whom she saw one time immediately after killing Travis.

Jodi moved to California in April 2008 because of Travis and because of finances.

Travis and Jodi remained in contact with each other after she moved to California. From the phone records we have seen, most contact was initiated by Jodi.

A .25 caliber pistol was reported missing from Jodi's residence a week before Jodi killed Travis.

Jodi rented an inconspicuous car 90 miles from her home, dyed her hair and traveled to Mesa, Arizona on June 3-4, although she had planned a trip to Utah to visit Ryan. Her phone was turned off for 20 hours from the time she left California until the time she was leaving Arizona on her way to Utah.

Nude photos of both Travis and Jodi were taken within a minute or two of each other in Travis' room and with Travis' camera. 6 pictures of Jodi, 2 of Travis. These photos were taken at approximately 1:30 pm on June 4, 2008.

At approximately 5:30 pm on June 4, 2008 Jodi took several pictures of Travis while he took a shower. Some of these photos were deleted.

Within a couple of minutes of Travis being alive and sitting in the shower, Jodi shot Travis in the head with a .25 caliber pistol, stabbed Travis 27 times in the back and torso, and cut his neck from ear to ear with a 5" knife. Jodi's fingers on her left hand were cut during the attack.

The attack took place in Travis' bathroom and the hallway leading from the bathroom to the bedroom.

Travis died from his injuries.

Jodi dragged Travis his shower and left his dead body there.

Jodi put Travis' camera in the washing machine, where it suffered water damage.

The gun and knife used to kill Travis have not been located.

Jodi drove from Mesa to Utah to visit Ryan, showing up approximately 24 hours later than scheduled. 250 miles from Arizona, Jodi called Travis' cell phone and left a message asking him to go to an Othello showing in Oregon the following week.

Jodi visited Ryan and engaged in sexual activity the day after she killed Travis. Jodi acted normal and stated that her delay was due to getting lost and sleeping in the car.

Jodi told Ryan that she cut her hand on a broken glass at "Margaritaville" where she worked. No such place existed.

Jodi sent an email to Travis on June 7, 2008 asking if she could stay at his house while he was in Cancun.

Travis' dead body was discovered on June 9, 2008.

Jodi spoke to investigators on June 10, 2008 and said that she had not seen Travis since April.

On July 15, 2008, after being provided with conclusive proof that she was at Travis' house on June 4, 2008, Jodi told investigators that she was there but two intruders killed Travis and allowed her to escape. Jodi described Travis being shot and unable to stand.

On July 16, 2008, Jodi was arrested and charged with Travis' murder.

Subsequent to her arrest, Jodi gave televised interviews wherein she said that two intruders killed Travis and one of them tried to shoot her but the gun didn't go off - at which point she was able to grab her purse and run out of the house.

Jodi claimed that she did not call 911 or report the intrusion and attack because she was afraid the intruders would harm her family.

In July 2010, Jodi's lawyer's filed a notice of intent to assert "self defense" as justification for Travis' homicide.

No doubt that many will disagree with me. Not a problem! I feel like I know a charlatan when I see one, and I would never trust those people as far as I could throw them. But they are millionaires according to Chris, so maybe I'm just jealous :)

Regarding Alyce LaViolette (ALV), I spent a little time familiarizing myself with her philosophical positions. I actually have no real problem with her general philosophies, except that she is a lot further to the left than I would typically prefer. That said, I generally respect the career she has carved out for herself.

And the more I have learned about her, the more puzzled I am. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say she "sold out" her principles to be involved with the Jodi Arias defense team. Just nothing about Jodi's life or dating/ sex life fits the mold with which ALV has surrounded herself. I almost (almost, but not really) feel a bit sorry for ALV for becoming involved with the hot mess that is JA.

ALV is a feminist of the highest order-- and that is ok with me. But I have a really hard time listening to her youtubes and figuring out how she is going to mold all that into "Poor Jodi, The Abused".

I think ALV could end up reviled and a laughingstock for months to years after this trial, depending on how she "plays" her role as an expert. If she oversells "Jodi, the Abused", she will suffer a very long time, professionally. She cannot (imo) sell Jodi as a depressed, dominated little woman who snapped. I really think ALV will go the "strong" Jodi route, touting "pre-emptive self defense" as a tactic. Meaning, Jodi was strong enough to formulate a plan to "save herself" pre-emptively from the wicked and unpredictiable intentions of Travis Alexander.

"Jodi gets Travis, before Travis has a chance to get her". She sensed some "gleam in his eyes" that he would absolutely kill her UNLESS she struck first. So "poor Jodi" lashed out in the only way she could, with 29 stab wounds, a gunshot to the head, and a deep slitting of the throat. Perfectly understandable, given the "gleam in his eyes." And so, Jodi the Warrior Princess slayed her dragon. Jodi is both a strong warrior, and weak as a kitten, in ALV's world.

Poor Jodi. I don't know how she goes on, day after day. Only the confidence of knowing she permanently silenced the evil look in the eyes of TA keeps her going, I'm sure.

But one thing is certain. When ALV is called to testify, all I will hear is "Hi Hi, Hi Ho, it's off to work we goooo....."

(At least Snow White knew all 7 of the abusive dwarves were employed!)

Here is a video of a 250lb tortoise trying to squeeze through a doggie door.
It's creepy. Not as creepy as a grown woman shoving herself through a doggie door though.

Thanks for the video. I don't think the tortoise is creepy at all. If JA actually did shove herself through a doggie door, I imagine her as the character Samara from the movie The Ring. Crawling out of the well, out of the TV.

When Malarchuk had his throat cut, it was the jugular that was affected. This is a vein, which transports deoxygenated blood back to the heart so it can get re-oxygenated in the lungs. Since it was "only" a vein that was cut, he still maintained a decent blood pressure to the brain and was still receiving oxygenated blood to the brain.

When the carotid artery is bilaterally severed, there will be a sharp decreased in blood pressure because... well... there is no blood flowing to the brain anymore. This will lead to an almost automatic syncope (fainting/unconsciousness), as part of the body's attempt to regain homeostasis. This is the same reason some people faint if they stand up too fast (orthostatic syncope).

The two incidents aren't really comparable.

I have that. You have no bearing of what is happening until you become level with the floor and the blood goes back into the brain. Since he had severe blood loss, he was pretty much done for.

Listening to that poor abused woman on DrD whose ex-husband came back three years after their separation to ram her with his work truck disabling her for life. It confirms what I find worrisome about psychotic psychopathic stalkers - they don't seem to recognize time has passed. They could pop up anytime, and who knows what they're still thinking.

Have we heard anything about what Jodi did to occupy herself from the time she left Utah and her arrest???

Wow looks just like the defendant when the autopsy photos were being shown.

No, except she bought a 9mm

She wrote fables that she later read to the police. JMO

Let me preface this with my actual belief. I think she's guilty and I think she snapped and killed him out of jealousy or some other rage (possibly that he wouldn't take her back, or that she was going to Cancun and wouldn't take her). I've said this multiple times on the forums. However, that is only my belief, and just because I believe something does not make it true. I am willing to concede that my beliefs may not be factual, and keep an open mind because evidence and testimony is still forthcoming. I will not just shut down and refuse to consider other theories or possibilities that may challenge my beliefs.

With that being said, I think it is possible that someone who has been abused may act in self defense and commit overkill. I don't think anyone has to be attacked for any specific amount of time, but not confining the attack to the two minutes means that the two weapons did not necessarily have to be present at once. JA may have left and returned with the second weapon because the first was not effective.

This has me rolling! If she left and came back after that photo....oh Lordy let me drive that Mac truCk through the self defense theory.

And if the duhfense is going to state she came back because she had been abused :thud: gosh I wish I could be ther with Katie!

I wish Dr Drew would have not interrupted her. I didnt quite understand who she was siding with. I think she was trying to say that she sees that same lack of empathy in Jodis eyes as she did her ex.

I can't relate to her at all either. From what I've seen and read of her work so far I don't see her being a helpful witness to the defense case, but I can admit I'm heavily prejudiced against her anyhow.

I was not a young woman in the 70's and there's no way I'm buying what she's selling.

Have you seen the HBO documentary on Gloria Steinem?

Glad to hear you are not buying into the Fairy Tale story. No, I have not seen the HBO docu. on Gloria S. Hopefully, Netflix will have it. Thanks for the heads up on it!
