Nothing the defense has brought up so far justifies Jodi murdering Travis.

I don't think that's the point of this testimony. The defense is in the process of building their case and this is just part of it.

PART 4

--Lisa told Travis that she was part to blame for making out intensely.
--Dt asks Lisa if "They did not have enough to agree upon to be a family." Martinez objects. Counsel approach the bench.
--Lisa expressed concern that they did not share the same values, the values she embraced, Travis shot down.
--Lisa talked to Travis about her goal of becoming a teacher. DT says that Travis did not support her and Lisa says it did not make her feel good.
--Lisa wrote the email after not seeing Travis for four days but says she saw him the day she wrote it. The time apart gave her time to think about him.
--Lisa told Travis that he overreacted about a lot of things. She doesn't remember what happened on Travis trip but she thinks that he had car trouble or something. His trip didn't go well and Lisa told Travis that he overreated and it was not attractive to her. In bold letters she said that he didn't tell her that Jodi went with him on the trip. Lisa suspected that Jodi went with Travis on that trip. She had asked Travis who was going and he did not tell her that Jodi was going. Lisa felt that Travis intentionally hid it from her that Jodi was on the trip.
--Lisa told Travis that he was being selfish when Travis wanted to have conversations with her late and night when she was too tired to talk.
--Lisa told Travis she felt he was ignoring her phone calls. They were going on a camping trip with their singles ward and Travis was late and he didn't answer the call.
--Lisa was car sick and Travis wanted to lay on her and she didn't want him to. Lisa felt she didn't deserve to be treated that way as his frustration was clear.
--Lisa went to his house on a Saturday, they got along, she felt things were better between the two of them but then she had more time to think about it and told him so in the email.
--Lisa told Travis she was sick of hearing about Jodi. Lisa told him that was when she began to suspect Travis was seeing Jodi. Travis told Lisa nothing was going on but Travis' roommate told her something was going on. Lisa promised the roommate she wouldn't say anything because the roommate was worried there would be a fight or a bad interaction.
--Lisa told Travis that if he really cared he would tell Jodi to back off regardless of the past and that she couldn't trust him anymore. Lisa felt their relationship could go no further. Lisa told Travis not to respond to the email, she told him she wished to not hear from him anymore.
--The final break up was in February 2008. They continued to talk after the email but they were separated for a coupel of weeks.
--Travis started contacting Lisa after the break up and says that Travis wanted to show that he cared and wanted to address the issues she said out of anger.
--Lisa doesn't remember how long it took her to write the email.
--When her and Travis spoke she felt the issues were resolved and they started dating again.
--By the end of October they are back together and then they break up again in November because Travis wanted marriage and she didn't. They broke up late November or early December.
--Lisa doesn't remember if they were separated and if so, how long for.
--Lisa says they still loved each other but they were in different places.
--Final break up was in mid-late February in 2008. It was a mutual break up.

All I could think this whole time listening to Lisa - "Be careful what you write in letters about someone's character!" Sometimes people can be a bit dramatic while in the midst of a break-up.

I don't think Lisa's emails painted a particularly negative picture of Travis. Issues of trust and intimacy are issues in every relationship -- she was a teenager at the time, and for the most part it sounds like Travis treated her well, but they were at different places in their lives.
