I have to say that among hikers and backpackers who are friends, it is not all that uncommon for someone to unzip someone else's backpack and take a look. I do not like this guy, but I don't think he was malicious when he did this. But 15 POUNDS of hair stuff, lotion and hand sanitizer??????? Really?

I keep thinking about how large that tube of lubricant was. Had to weigh a lot being in the supersize.

Travis wanted other people to chaperone his trips with Jodi! (Though the witness is struggling to recall. ;))

I found this and shared yesterday when this question came up:

According to http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/ldsnew...tal-punishment

they believe :

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regards the question of whether and in what circumstances the state should impose capital punishment as a matter to be decided solely by the prescribed processes of civil law. We neither promote nor oppose capital punishment.

I suppose they are like any other faith... some of them are for it, some are not.

Thank You!

OH? Jodi is slightly taller than Travis, according to this witness.

I hope there are juror questions.

No idea. I agree with the other attorney who posted (sorry- trying to remember names). I think they are trying to hold him to the Mormon standard of things and trying to show he may have fallen short.

But, goodness gracious, even in the Mormon faith, he would have always been loved and welcomed and cherished. And, it looks to me like he was trying to decide between two worlds. To me, it looks like he was able to live the Mormon lifestyle with support when JA wasn't around, but when she was, he did things he wasn't probably proud of.

It makes me so sad for his family to have to go through all this. It is my understanding they are Mormon too and probably didn't know a lot of this before the murder. How awful to have to sit through this.

Mormon youth do mess up. Everyone messes up. Get over it. He was a good guy. He was trying, like we all are. Most of the times where Mormon youth don't follow the standards as far as sex, they went to far because they were in love, etc. and "messed up." But, here, I don't think Travis had a fair chance. This was more than sex. This seems to be an obsession with someone who was bent on getting her way. He was outgunned with her. Particularly as Mormon kid, who did serve a mission, to me (JMO), she was far more sophisticated and conniving than he could have handled....or anyone, for that matter. It makes me very sad to see them try to bash his character. So sad. This isn't even a fair match to begin with.

Hope I am making sense....venting!

Wow. Our minds and hearts are thinking just alike. The defense wants to make him so trashy. He was a young man, doing what young men do (IMO). I am female but I raised boys and girls and they are maturing and growing in a world gone crazy. It is so hard for them. I too believe he wanted to do the right thing but was tempted by sex because he loved it with her. And the defense doesn't want her to bear any responsibility. Goodness, she lived with a much older man four years before Travis! He was definitely outgunned. The defense should have respect for the faith he was striving to live...while this obsessed female was stalking him.

I now COMPLETELY understand the dynamics of the relationship with Jodi and Travis.

COMPLETELY. Travis WANTED to keep his Mormon values it was JODI who kept dragging him back into a relationship and a sexual relationship.

I totally get it now. He was trying.

Nurmi is boring, when Juan questions the witness I really start to listen, wonder if the jury feels the same way?

  • #435
isn't all that looking up mean the witness is lying?

Once again JM turns the defense witness into a prosecution witness.

I love watching him work.

Is anybody else reminded of Al Pacino in "And Justice for All" when Martinez is up there? Another one of my crushes :blushing:.
