Charlie, do you like Getost? It is Norwegian goat cheese, light brown in color with a bit of a tang, and it slices easily with a cheese cutter and melts in your mouth. You almost have an aroma in your mouth it is so rich.

The block sold is like 3 x 2", which tells you how rich it is! Served on homemade brown or rye bread it is delicious, especially with a bowl of Swedish pea soup and a slice of home cured ham.

Oh the old country knew how to put solid, delicious and healthy food on the table.

Off to bake cookies like crazy tonight and tomorrow will start around 8am and bake till about 2. Scandinavian cookies are a must for desert after Christmas Eve Dinner.

Scandi

ETA: I bet you would like that too BarnGoddess :)

I was raised right, Scandi. I'll try anything once. I have a passion for good food. Took the BarnGod to Oregon for my son's wedding. I ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell, I only got one. He tried one and wolfed down the rest. He went crazy in Miami when we went to my high school reunion. Ate everything in sight. Now he just loves all kinds of exotic food. We have a friend with a couple of goats. She makes cheese and shares it with us. I'll have to ask her about Getost. Send me some cookies. I'll cook up my dad's family receipe for Gumbo. We'll trade.

OK Girls,

I'll be baking off and on all week next week so will have plenty for all. Tomorrow morning I'll call my bakery supply shop and find out how to package cookies to go through the mail. I have to do that anyway for Buzz's batch.

If you want cookies, PM me your address and I'll send them out next week, PMing you back to let you know what day I mailed them.

PS: BarnGoddess, I've never had Gumbo, but don't think it will travel through the mail too well. LOLOLO The recipe would be wonderful to have though, and I know where I can buy fresh Okra. That's in Gumbo, right?

I decided to make three batches of dough tonight so that is done and do the decorating and baking tomorrow morning. It is a fun project, for sure! I bought a new Italian cookie press and it is made so beautifully - will last forever.

Scandi,

I don't know about the Getost, I may have had it or not. I spend 2 months every year in Munster (Westphalia) Germany - good cheeses there but I can't recall that specific name. I'm not a big cheese head anyway - more into jagerschnitzel - any kind of schnitzel actually and currywurst mit pomme fritz und brochen! I try alot of different things but seldom recall names as food is not exactly high on my list of exceptional things, simply survival. Seafood however is a different story - that's food!

You ladies talking about all this however does make me a tad hungry. Have been "batching it" since Thursday eve, mainly "Hot Pockets", as wife and boys are in St. Louis for a b-ball tournament - it has been up to me to get things ready for tomorrow. They will return today and they have no idea what they will have for Christmas diner tomorrow - but it involves wooden hammers!

Scandi - I do like to bake, it is relaxing, but only bread ! Cookies of any kind would be too complicated for me - never could figure out what a "pinch" is ! Most of the time I get ran out of the kitchen or am given primal tasks such as salad...oh well, it is just as well, I command the bbq grill however !

Thanx hon :)

I am starting to wonder why I post on ctv. Every time I decide to have a natter they're arguing

Is there an emoticon for "I give up"? lol. That's twice now.

It appears to me they get locked onto one aspect and fail to realize there are others to be considered. i.e if there was a $1 million policy on MY - it is certainly not provided by the company she works for - it is private insurance. No company can afford those costs for its workers as the profit margins will slip dramatically.

The biggest thing with CTV - it is more of a contest of who is right, who can have a thought before someone else, and who can post news first. There is very little cooperation amongst them unless they are railing on another poster. JMO of course but the main reason I seldom bother.

Especially when they've got a lot of workers.

I wish WRAL would publish the actual search warrants though  so we can see them for ourselves how they're worded.....strange that they put the other ones up and not that one.

I suppose I should get some sleep just in case my daughter does go into labor today sometime. Fingers crossed :)

**I am not responsible for my actions, lol, I love WS so do not be surprised if I'm back in 30 minutes from lack of sleeping. But should I not return, I can be deemed to be totally zonked out snoring my head off and annoying my hubby who is in blissful slumber and who will be cranky at his wife for interrupting his Christmas snooze**

Get some sleep Sami - a new grand baby will need your full attention !
Hope all goes well and hopefully tomorrow you can tell us all about the new addition !

Corporate America is not generous to its employees, nor is insurance cheap here.

P.S. a good chuckle - looks like I have put the wrong soap in the dishwasher, there are suds and bubbles coming out the sides, guess I will mop the floor while I'm at it.:)

Hey Charlie Merry Xmas and all that Jazz. I rarely post cuz you all provide me with plenty to read but I thought I would chime in here about the insurance. My employee LI allows me the option of increasing the insured amount as long as I pay the difference in premiums to cover it. I chose to do that rather than set up a private policy too. Makes it simpler to me so maybe the Youngs did the same.

Just a thought Merry christmas everyone!

Facts are Facts - you should post more often and share your thoughts. The more thoughts the more likely we will come upon something reasonable to conclude.

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well ! Tis a great season !

Well thanks Charlie I agree with you about sharing ideas. There sure are may different things to speculate in this case. I hope Cassidy can enjoy her Christmas maybe Santa can help her to forget even for a little while that her mommy is gone to heaven.:(

So jump in luv - we don't bite. I get obstinate however, but someone always shakes me out of it ! Have fun with us - we're pretty happy.

Yes I hope little Cassidy will be distracted by Santa as well. I think perhaps she is young enough yet to be distracted by it easily - at least I hope so. The thought of anything else is pretty heartbreaking.
