still confused re this one.
I still wonder whether her actions had to do with her OWN ego (we know Hunter and his stuff never took her and HER theory seriously when she was working for him)
or
whether she did it (out of stupidity or just because she was naive or maybe money-no proof so dunno) for the Ramsey's (just another puppet?).

Not stupidity or naivety. Just a misplaced desire to please those percieved to be above her. Those in a class she would like to socialise in, those with money, those with power, who get her promoted.

She musy have known that what she did was questionable. Then agian this just shows the Ramsey influence crossed many boundaries.

Excuse me, but why was Patsy being tested that early? I suppose if you believe in the innocence of the Ramseys, you might say it was because the police decided early on in their guilt, yada, yada, yada, and never looked for the “real killer”. On the other hand, if you believe in some sort of culpability on the part of the Ramseys, you might say that the police were smart enough to have seen early on through the charade.

....just for clarification for otg: I think the sentence in question above is just a poorly worded sentence. I don't think it means they tested PR's handwriting before finding JB's body; I think the sentence means to say PR's handwriting was (eventually) tested to see if she was the writer of the Ransom Note - WHICH WAS FOUND BEFORE JonBenet's body was found.

The police did do one thing right that morning...asking John for handwriting comparisons from he and Patsy. John handed LE Patsy's pad which turned out to be the pad in which the rn was written.
