The Wall of Hope - New location!

Sobering, isn't it?

From the Divorce Motions thread to this thread - from Madness to Reality.

The Wall of Hope really works. I will miss it. I can't imagine how hard it will be for the family to say goodbye to it. Another Missing Kyron milestone...

I'm so thankful we went there yesterday. I wish Kaine would have been by when we were there cuz I would have given him a hug.

ETA: Freefallzzzz took a lot of pics of individual comments. Grab a Kleenex and read them when you can.

Mike Galonos is filling in for the afternoon anchor today on HLN and has featured the Kaine interview a couple of times. That Kaine will purchase school supplies so that Kyron is ready for school is heartwrenching to hear but very hopeful. jmo

The new home for Kyron Horman's makeshift Wall of Hope is still up in the air, the missing boy's biological mother said Monday.<snipped>

I honestly can't think of a good, safe place for it, and can't really blame any business that does not want the responsibility/added traffic/possible vandalism of having it on their property. Unfortunately, this could go on for a very long time and any business would feel badly about having to ask to have it taken down at some point. Whenever it comes down, it will seem like a loss of hope. I think a simple tree or something to that effect at Skyline, that can stay there regardless of the outcome, is probably the best solution. That way, no one ever has to say it is time to take it down.

There aren't many businesses up there to place it either. They'd have to go south on Cornelius Pass and under the freeway to the Fred Meyer area.

I'd take a picture of every item and make it a virtual wall of hope. Then anyone in any state could add to it.

But then I'm addicted to my computer.

While school is out, going there is amazing. The breeze that quietly passed carrying the scents of pines and firs, the gentle whisper of everyone's wishes and prayers as they are caught up in the wind, looking at where Kyron laughed and played - all of it - I can't describe it.

I don't think there will ever be a place like it anywhere. But we need a place in order to continue to have a place to manifest the hope.

I can't bring myself to visit it. Just seeing the photos here and on the news, I get tears and chills.

I agree that it should be moved before school starts. I hope they find a place soon. I didn't quite understand why they talked about moving it to the offices of Portland Public SD and now that's off the table? I haven't looked back at news stories to find the answer though.

I can understand the hesitancy a church, business, etc. may have in having the wall of hope on their grounds (liability issues maybe, or possible vandalism, etc.). :(

Is it wrong to suggest that the wall should be discontinued? Because, since there's the question of any suggestions.......that'd be mine.

Kyron liked the zoo, there are pictures of him there. Zoo's usually have lots of tall walls surrounding the rock backs of say lion pens, etc. Maybe the zoo would volunteer a wall to Kyron's wall of hope.

I am not uncaring about this situation, however since it has to be taken down for school, I don't think it should be replaced. It was helpful for people in the first few months because this case has been so emotional. I'm not saying to take away people's hope just do something different.

Sadly sometimes things cannot go on indefinitely. Things left outside for long periods of time are going to be ruined, turn into litter and become an eye sore and possibly a liability for anyone hosting the wall.

Perhaps a tree, that blossoms red ( Kyron's favorite color) with a plaque. Or perhaps a statue of an angel and call it an angel of hope ( plant red flowers below it ). Encourage people to donate toys or a monetary gift to a Hospital for Sick Children in Kyron's name.

This case could remain unsolved and Kyron could end up being just one of many children that are never found. Sadly this could be the reality. jmo

I've also thought that the wall be discontinued as well. I just can't think of another place where it would have the same impact.

Ultimately, I think Kyron's family should decide though.

Respectfully edited. Good suggestions. I want to do something to honor Kyron and have decided on a contribution to Skyline's library when school starts. Having been a teacher and acknowledging that Kyron is a bright boy, he probably enjoys reading. I trust that the PTA and/or Skyline staff will purchase books that Kyron would love to read :)

I wonder if Skyline wants to acknowledge anything on a permanent basis at the school right now...they may, under legal advice, want to wait until it is determined that whatever happened had nothing to do with the school, rightly or wrongly. If a school can possibly be seen as "losing" a child and that child is never found or is found deceased, I'm not sure they want to have a permanent reminder. Charges and a trial against a family member would probably go a long way toward Skyline wanting to honor Kyron in a permanent way. It is such a rare circumstance. I wonder if they even know what is best.

That is a great idea.

I agree they may have to wait, but something they can consider in the future.
There are too many unanswered questions right now.
