Waiting for traffic to die down. Freeways are murder between 4:00pm and 7:00pm.

O/T I can relate.. I had to make four trips over the Lake Ponchatrain Causeway last week.. Almost 24 miles long and the traffic was horrible..Hurry back and have a safe trip..

Damage was to the rear, fender or bumper and, I believe, damage to tail light.

Does anyone remember when Hank Sr was in this accident? What do we know about that accident?

Yes, According to Chelsea, Hank Sr was in an auto accident when he was driving their vehicle on Saturday just prior to HaLeigh's disappearance on Monday. Chelsea said she drove Lisa to the hospital in Gainesville on Monday which means Lisa and Hank weren't at the the Tyler Residence or in Satsuma when HaLeigh disappeared. Hank Sr was apparently hit by a drunk driver without auto insurance and he was admitted to the hospital in Gainesville for treatment until his release around Feb 10th. As far as we know, no other person was in the vehicle with Hank.

Whisperer--
http://www.artharris.com/2009/10/05/...s-family-feud/

snip~Two days before Haleigh turned up missing last February, a drunk driver with no insurance smashed into the used car Timmy and Chelsea had just bought days earlier. Hank, Sr., her father in law wound up in the hospital in Gainesville, Fla., she says, and didn’t come home until after Haleigh vanished, on crutches, pins in his leg and a lot of pain.

I think CJ said RC hit the back of his vehicle and TJ said in his article that there was no damage per the LE. I think again they might have been doing the "gansta bump" like seen in movies to each others vehicles?? Actually, does anyone know for sure?

The only thing I can figure -- and this is going off what I learned from the kc case -- if requested, the vehicle has to be returned unless part of an ongoing investigation. Sooooo . . . maybe because LE hasn't pressed any charges or been able to come up with enough evidence, the van wasn't technically part of an ongoing investigation ???? I just hope any evidence that could've been retrieved from the van was done so before releasing.

Did they get anything of Haleigh's to compare DNA?

I just can't let this van thing go. With the admonition of supposed deer blood, the mysterious scratch and it allegedly having been secretly driven that fateful night, I guarantee it holds a key.

Just wanted to add that yes, Drew Peterson also received his SUV back from LE after quite a long time. So I guess even if something suspicious was found the vehicle can be returned to the owner. I guess as long as the evidence is processed and preserved, the vehicle could be released.

You have brought up memories for me. I used to cross that causeway quiet a lot in the old days.

Thank you...Wow!

Cars found damaged about the time Haleigh vanished

1. rons Altima tail end
2. chelsea's hit by drunk driver (lawsuit?)
3. nay's Rear end damage (extensive)on Blue Lincoln
4. lindsey's Headlight and passenger side of blue van.
.....
Anymore?

The Ron's rear tail and the blue van's headlight interest me. Was this another behavior like the other night.

So does Lindsey's blue Lincoln damage.

Some may recall rc blocked cs in with his car, when she tried to see her children after he filed for custody. This guy has some serious control issues.

Hey Whisperer, I been looking for a picture of Nay's car all day and I found it!

I found a picture in the parking lot so I hope I do this right.

In the video of NayNay at the 2:35 mark she describes the damage to her car.
Amber is the one who got it stuck in the sand. I've heard by the church in San Mateo.
WARNING-There is foul language in the video!!

Also, Whisperer, I have to correct you on 1 thing, the damage to Lindsy's blue van was on the drivers side-headlight and scratch down the side.

maybe we should line these cars up. I read somewhere that Ron's Altima had damaged to the fender and back tail light.

Just jumping off your post Emeralgem, what IF what you heard is true, maybe HaLeigh wasn't strapped in with a seatbelt and Misty may have stopped hard. HaLeigh falls and hits her head in the van, pretty hard. (close head injury, not noticed till later)

JMO

This is a scenario I had in a theory I posted in the theory thread-post #410.

Theories discussion: What could have happened to Haleigh? #4 - Page 17 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

It wouldn't surprise me any if Haleigh was not properly restrained-look at her aunt Crystal's driving infractions. She has so many child restraint violations she could have bought her child 10 car seats with the fine money!

If FL law is similar to Indiana, Haleigh should of been in a 3 or 5 point restraint seat (her description shows her as 36" tall and 39 lbs.) if not a booster seat.

My theory I stated she could have had a closed head injury, no one thought she was injured until she showed signs later. But now reading about the blood I would like to know if any was found (according to Misty there should have been) in the van and where. Does Misty think lab techs. can't find the difference between human and animal blood? And why would Tommy put a deer in the van if he had a truck at the same time as we have heard he did.
That is just nasty! Whatever happened to Haleigh involved illegal activities, IMO, if not, why the cover up?

I do recall hearing Lindsy was upset about how long LE were keeping her van and she had to go to the state crime lab (I can't remember right off what city that is located in) to get it back. I would be upset, too, but I guess there isn't anything she could do about it-maybe she will learn not to lend it to others! Kudos to her and Chelsea for reporting it though, they did the right thing, I hope it holds some clues to what happened to poor Haleigh.

I agree, as long as LE has all the evidence they need for testing, etc., they could release it.

ITA!!!!! I Emeralgem and i were bouncing off each other's idea's yesterday-kinda brainstorming. Emeralgem said maybe someone was trying to pull her out of a moving car and fell and got ran over, then i thought, usually vans have the sliding doors on the side, and if that door isn't opened all the way to the lock position, then the door would slide when the vehicle goes into motion.... I was wondering if someone wasn't trying to pull HaLeigh out and the vehicle went into motion and the door wasn't locked open and accidently closed on HaLeigh stomach area, which might not show signs right away... HaLeigh may have died from internal bleeding, as something may have ruptured... IDK, if i even believe what i just wrote. But anything is possible, and i think we just don't have enough info about that night to really build a theory on, JMO

Could it be a pistol is responsible for that damage?

IMO, the only way a pistol would do that kind of damage is if someone took it and scraped a sharp part of it on the van. I watched the video again and I can't really tell how long the scratch is. To me it seems like someone got too close to something (tree branch? dumpster? MC mentioned barb wire in one of the videos) and kept driving.
The driver side headlight was cracked, also.
Here's a link to the video if anyone needs to refresh their memory.

Maybe there was a cow in the road and the driver hadda swerve and they hit a farm fence post connected to barbed wire.

Those cows of Putnam County....they're world famous.
