BBM - and yet that night, after what must have been a sh1tty day for OP (going by Reeva's texts), he didn't find it hard to rest at all, because he was asleep by 10pm according to his affidavit, and between 9 and 10pm according to his testimony

I would think that after a crappy day, he would be feeling quite tense and agitated, certainly not in the mood to 'help' Reeva with her contract. After all, he was the one who'd had a bad day, so wouldn't he have expected Reeva to placate him (much like his family does in court as soon as there's a hint of a lip tremble?) To believe he did a nice selfless thing for Reeva when he was upset about something doesn't ring true at all. He'd have been expecting attention.

Here is a random thought. What if OP's Team have been spending the time since the HOA, weighing up the potential outcomes? What if they have come to the conclusion he is Goosed?

Does anyone think he might be smuggled out of SA before Thursday? I am not sure of my thinking on this yet, does anyone have an opinion?

I think he will be there for the verdict. I have read that the DT already has the appeal ready. IMO, if an appeal is granted he will go on fighting. There will be a break of as much as two weeks for mitigation. If he is going, maybe during the verdict and mitigation might be the time. I have also heard there is another break after mitigation and before sentence is confirmed. That could be another possibility. So it could be another month before we know what the end story is. :tantrum:

Very interesting, thank you. I have always thought he was a bit pro Pistorius but it didn't sound like in this clip. He also seems to suggest that he half expects OP to not stay around to face jail.

I don’t buy that 10pm BS. Knowing OP’s temperament, he was very likely in a tense/brooding, if not downright foul mood when he returned home. Being a hardcore, self-admitted insomniac, sleep would have eluded him.

I suspect Reeva sensed his ill-concealed somber mood even before he got home (via texts and phone calls throughout the day) - remember, she asked him if he wouldn’t instead want the comfort of his family (“M and Carl&#8221. Hence, that may be part of the reason she had wanted to go back to Johannesburg that afternoon - she knew what a moody, sullen OP was like and didn’t want to be around it (plus, she had her speech in the morning).

I think Valentine’s Day + OP’s Foul Mood + Alcohol(?) was the spark that lit the fuse.

I have just spent countless hours on google images trying to find a photo of OP's wood-carved rabbits (I think he said they had hearts on them and that he purchased them at roadside stands.) Have any of you happened upon pictures?

My rabbit hunt was a total failure. However, I ran across a blurred image of tweets by Jenna Elkins in support of the Pistorius family. I had seen them posted before... except for the last one whereby Jenna is asking the family to please contact her as she works for the TV program, TMZ, in the states. (At least she did at the time.) Am I the only one that didn't know that?!?!

P.S. I would have posted a link here if I hadn't failed in my attempt to go from "blurred image" to the website location of the original!! Grrrh...

I think OP has had his bags packed since moving in with Uncle Arnold. LOL

I also think his family has had multiple, highly-detailed contingency plans in the works since he was indicted. No doubt they’re in the process of fine tuning them as we speak.

Count on it - by fair means or foul, the Pistorius family will never allow their Golden Boy to rot in a putrid SA prison.

I think the Defense knows he’s goosed - it’s just a matter of degree.

If and when he disappears will depend on what he thinks he’s actually gotten away with and what he thinks his defense team can mitigate - an ultra-high-stakes gamble. But we know that OP is a high-stakes player - such a massive ego demands to confront, to WIN.

The terrible dilemma and danger for OP is that the wild card in this game - the one thing he has zero control over - is Judge Masipa. Perhaps for the first time in his life, he feels utterly POWERLESS, at the total mercy of someone else. Prison would make him even more powerless - the ultimate submission and loss of control. OP is a total control freak with deep entitlement issues - so he will do anything and everything to avoid this fate worse than death. He will play this court game only as long as he thinks he’s got the upper hand.

The problem with narcissists, though, is their entrenched habit of overestimating themselves - and underestimating reality.

OP has gotten away with so much over the years (aided and abetted by his family/handlers/PR) that he no doubt believes he’ll get away with this, too. Within his privileged world - able to make and break his own rules at will - he’s never before slammed into brutal reality.

Narcissistic OP is arrogant enough that - like his epic legal battle with the IAAF to be allowed to compete in the 2012 Olympics - he thinks he will win a total reversal of his conviction on appeal and his freedom (and become some “redeemed” champion, once again embraced by the world?). He will fight this legal battle up until the bitter point he knows he’s about to be taken into custody for processing into prison ... then Uncle Theo will whisk him away in one of his armored vehicles to one of his private, chartered planes to, well ... just google “anywhere on earth”.

I can see the headlines now: ‘Oscar DISAPPEARS’.

No one ever expected the beloved Blade Runner to become a killer (how well do we really know our “heroes”?), so anything he does at this point would not surprise me.

I usually read this thread on my ipad late in bed and my husband stirs if I type, so although I haven't written in a while I have each and every post on here before I sleep!

The selling off of his assets is so concerning and strange for all the reasons already mentioned: it could undermine a potential bail application (if convicted; and I sure hope he is), and doesn't seem like a lawyer would advise at this time for this and other reasons.. Even if it is to get rid of assets before Reeva's parents sue, it is still very early for that. Also, that often doesn't work... as we saw with OJ. The timing, mixed with the new beard (!!!) and yesterday's driveway freak out tell me one thing and one thing alone: OP might have been preparing to go underground. Many of you have said as much.

This is my question: who did he really sell his houses to?? One was to some company (Eben Kruger Bemarking, with a manager named Ryno van Niekerk), one was to an anonymous 'business man.' My first thought was: is it possible he could be laundering is assets back into his family? With the Pistorius's ~100 companies, how can we know what Eben Kruger is? Why would a company buy a house?

I do fear he is prepared to flee. Is it silly of me to worry that Nel hasn't seen this news (he claimed not to have seen the reinactment, though maybe he had)?

If by OP's team, you mean Roux and company, I can't see them suggesting that OP flee the country.

While Roux is heavily invested in this case and I'm sure wants to win, he has nothing to gain with OP going on the run. In fact, there is money to be made by Roux if there is a future appeal as OP is already in the process of liquidating homes. That's a lot of bills in Roux's pocket.

More importantly, if it ever got out that Roux suggested this, he would lose his license and face criminal proceedings of his own, certainly not worth it over OP.

Just because a country, Mozambique for example, does not have a formal extradition treaty with another country, South Africa, that does not mean that Mozambique would give OP safe harbor and allow a convicted murderer to roam its territories freely. Diplomatic exchanges between the two governments would have OP sitting in a Mozambique jail cell until he was expelled back to South Africa.

OP should really consider a more extreme country to flee to, North Korea would be ideal!

I don't know if OP would run or not, but if he became desperate, anything is possible. While extradition is a possibility, it can be a very long process. We only have to look at Nazi soldiers that hid in South America or Roman Polanski who left the US after his crimes.
