Human remains discovered in Thomas County
The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office tells WALB that utility workers were clearing down trees on Hansell Chastain Road and Hall Road when workers discovered the remains.
Officials say at this point in their investigation, they believe the remains have been there for about a month.
They also do not believe the remains belong to any of the three currently missing people in the county: Trent Hires, Marlina and Greg Hurst, who have been missing for two years.

“The condition of the remains, we believe this person would have been out here for a month to two months,” Watkins said. “At this point in the investigation, officials believe that the person might have been walking along the road.”

FYI for sleuthers, Thomasville is just north of the Florida/Georgia line. Since it mentions he may have just been walking down the road, I thought it might help in case he was passing through from the south.

Investigators with the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office now believe that no foul play is involved with the discovery of the skeletal remains that were found in the county on Sep. 5.

“The person was deceased around June or July. We’re pretty sure the individual will look similar to the sketch; their hair could be shorter or longer and there could be some tweaks in there, but this is the general look of the individual”, the commander in charge of investigations, Pascal Autrey says.

“We’ve already had a bunch of people starting to contact us today. There are a few other tests that we haven’t gotten back yet, but hopefully if we get a good positive, we can do DNA.”
