I never really thought I would ever read that Tina Turner had died.

Her music and talent was superb and so very powerful.

She also had the wisdom to retire from showbiz while she was on top and lead a very private and happy life in a beautiful place, with a husband who adored her.

My greatest condolences to her husband of 27 years, and her many friends and collegues.

Tina Turner, the exuberant, heel-stomping, wild-haired rock goddess who sold out stadiums, earned a dozen Grammy Awards and won the adoration of fans around the world in an electrifying music career spanning five decades, died Wednesday at her home near Zurich, Switzerland, according to a statement from her publicist.

She was 83.

"With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model," Turner's publicist, Bernard Doherty, said in a statement. He added that there will be a private funeral ceremony for close friends and family members.

I have a story to tell. I went to Caesar's Tahoe specifically to see Tina in concert decades ago. A couple walked into the elevator where we were, saw a poster for Tina's concert and said... "Who is Tina Turner?". My BF and I just looked at each other and shrugged. We didn't bother to educate them on who Tina Turner was. lol BTW she put on a GREAT show as she danced on those lovely legs of hers.
