Funny, my first thought was Tristyn Bailey. Same age, both cheerleaders, both victims of adolescent boys.

Beautiful young teen -- a young, young teen.
How many relatives and friends of hers will never be the same?
I held my breath while reading the article and looking at her picture in her cheerleading outfit and now my mouth is dry.
We see this too damm much. SMH.
How did this happen?
Glad that there is a suspect under arrest.

This new report said the boy 'met the victim around midnight at a local pool' ----so it seems she voluntarily snuck out to meet up with him?

It does sound like a Tristan Bailey nightmare. I don't think she was his girlfriend or anything. IDK

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Prosecutors for the state revealed during a hearing Wednesday morning that it intends to try a 15-year-old murder suspect as an adult. The judge set a transfer hearing for January 14 at 8:30 a.m.
Malakiah Harris is accused of killing 13 year old Savannah Copeland back in October. Harris is charged with second degree murder.

Savannah Grace Copeland, 13, passed away tragically on October 22, 2024. Born at Park West in Knoxville, TN on September 3, 2011, Savannah was the cherished daughter of Michael and Amanda Copeland, and her beautiful smile lit up the room. She loved her family, she loved her friends, and she loved art. Savannah attended Powell Middle School and was a talented student as well as an accomplished athlete—excelling in gymnastics, karate, and cheerleading. She wanted to go to UT and study forensic anthropology. She enjoyed scary stories, drawing, and pop music. Savannah and her family have been longtime members of the Powell United Methodist Church.

Savannah is survived by her loving parents, Michael and Amanda Copeland; brother Britton Burchell and twin brother Kasey Copeland; great-grandfather Robert Baker; grandparents Barbara Copeland, Shirley Patrick, George and Sidney Copeland; Aunt Laurie Hunley (Paul) and Uncle Scott Copeland (Laura); cousins Chris and April Hunley. Extended family includes Alicia Anderson and Allen Burchell.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Wayne Patrick and grandmother, Sharon Patrick.

Savannah will be forever missed by everyone who knew her and loved her.

Savannah was one of us, a person who wanted to solve crimes and give people back their names.

The world will be all the poorer for her not being in it.

Michael Copeland chose to share a message of compassion in the wake of the murder of his daughter Savannah as he vowed not to his 'heart to be filled with rage'.

Using the Life360 app he was able to track her location, which led investigators to make the grim discovery on a dirt trail not far away.

Savannah's body was discovered on a dirt trail behind a community pool in Powell, just outside Knoxville a day after she disappeared.

She had been stabbed to death multiple times with a pocket knife by a suspect she met with the night before she was found.

Police arrested and charged Harris with second degree murder in connection to the death. He is due in court next on January 15.
