AMBER ALERT TN - Autistic teen Sebastian Wayne Drake Rogers, 15, missing in Hendersonville - Feb 27, 2024 #3

  • #881
You'd think this couldn't happen but I keep reading about people who fall into barrels and trash bins, can't get out and asphyxiate.

Could that have happened here? Had S been forced to throw out something that was valuable to him? Did he sneak out to retrieve it?

No shoes, no intention of being gone long. Waited until Mom was distracted/asleep and slipped out the front door

Utter unthinkable accident? But parents started pointing fingers and it blew up into a war of testosterone and territory, fueled by mutual distrust?

Children don't disappear. If they're missing from the immediate area, they were moved. Logic 101.

Could this explain how he went missing and remains missing?

Yep this is another concern. Landfill was searched 11 days after he went missing. We’ve seen how some searches come up without a body despite the best of efforts at landfills - at that point in the case (11 days), they were still asking folks to check their backyards and outbuildings. Not implying they didn’t do a thorough search but there was still a lot of hope at the time that this could have a good ending imo I wonder if he could be there? I hope not, but kids don’t just disappear. Although I would love nothing more than to hear Sebastian walks back into town one day, I think your point about trash/barrels is a good one to keep in mind. Moo

It says no cars were seen on neighbor's cameras nor his mother's dashcam, but I am thinking there were blind spots & darkness that would have allowed someone to approach or leave the house on foot or even a car, but just my opinion. Because Sebastian also wasn't seen leaving on the cameras, yet something must have happened.

I think there were camera blind-spots, and it's really tragic that this hasn't been solved.

I'm really heartbroken for his dad. Sebastian looks to me like what Kyron Horman would have looked like as a teenager.

Huh. I remember Katie saying when she heard the thud, she called to Sebastian something to the effect of, "I don't know what you're doing in there, but go to bed!"

This is the first I remember hearing her asking him if he was okay.

I can't swear that my memory is 100% accurate, so does anyone else remember her saying this before?

Found it. No mention of asking him if he was okay, which I think any normal parent would do if the sound was unusual.

'He was doing something in his room because about an hour later, I heard some noise and I was like, "I don't care what you're doing in there but go to sleep,"' said Katie.

Because the thud meant he wasn't okay and she knew it? idk imo

I remember hearing about this case on the news, sadly, it disappeared from the national news and I've heard no updates. I went back and the moms story sounds a little odd to me, almost utopian day with her son, then 2 hour call with husband? 2 hours is a long time to catch up with someone you're married to and who's coming back home IMO. The story almost makes it sound like everything was awesome.

Im not sure his level of autism, but it seems he was verbal and somewhat independent, so I could see her not running in to his room if he answered her, after hearing a thud or bang, but that does provide a suspicious reason to his missing.

I do hope there is a resolution to his missing, sadly, I don't think he's off living it up on his own. Im not sure if it was foul play or just a terrible accident.

I have three kids, and if there's a "thud," the next thing I always hear is "I'm ok!" Because they know I'm going to ask if they're ok. I can't imagine not checking on them.

At 15, my mom would have absolutely yelled at me to knock it off and be quiet even if I didn’t want to sleep. Probably from her bed haha. Nowadays, my friends just text their teenage kids to be quiet most of them time when they’re banging around at night. I never found this part of the story weird. I swear sometimes teenagers sound like they’re hammering or throwing things at midnight - I have no idea how they make so much noise.

Just writing thoughts out loud here. The stories do seem a bit suspicious of the mom/step dad as mom was last with him alone. Did someone mention the household was abusive? Again, not sure if an accident occurred and they panicked or if manslaughter occurred out of frustration or an incident? DId he simply bolt and get lost as some autistic children do, had he wandered before? Did he have nefarious "friend(s)" that knew where he lived & could have lured him to sneak out that night? Someone he met out while playing video games at the bowling ally?

Mom's story of that day seems like it was just a fun-filled awesome day with no incidents or challenging moments, & maybe it was, which as a mom would give small comfort knowing the last day spent with my son was a wonderful memory.

Were there witnesses who saw Sebastian out with his mom that day? Are there any receipts or documention/hard evidence to support she/he were where she said they travelled that day? Smaller towns would easily recognize their residents, conversations could have occurred with people while they were out and about.

However, I think another poster said dogs were brought in and they could not locate Sebastian's scent outside the home? That's odd. Also, it was Feb so pretty chilly in TN to leave the house with no shoes etc, which IMO would make it easier for dogs to pick up his scent? The scent should have at least went to the family car since he was in it that day. Were the clothes he wore that day in his room, suggesting he changed to night clothes, since he was told to go to bed, or are the clothes he wore that day also missing suggesting he never got ready for bed? If he did leave on his own free will or lured, he didn't take his phone etc with him, so seemed he popped out and planned to be back in fairly soon.

Hate to speculate incorrectly, as i don't live in the area or know these people personally. Seems his biological parents divorced & didn't get a long well from what I read? I'm sure police interviewed people that know them, wondering what the general temperature of the family dynamic was?

When was he last seen by someone other than the mom?

Mom and Sebastian went out to eat the night he went missing and they both were on video at the restaurant.

Did they say if there was any tension between the two or were they relaxed and happy acting?

I believe there is a video of them from the restaurant. I'm trying to hunt down an approved link, but I'm sure it's been shared up thread.
