TN - Blast at explosives factory leaves dead, injured and unaccounted for - 10 October 2025

Isn't it possible that company (CS&H) is being merged with another, for more efficiency and less waste, though ?
And not necessarily shuttered.
It isn't a company - it's a government agency that's being closed. As far as efficiency goes, it depends on whether the same skills are available at other government agencies that can take its place. If specialty skills are unique to one agency, the skills may be lost.

The articles I linked have some information.

When I see something like this, the first thing I think of is "What did management do wrong?" to cause such a catastrophy. I assume there is closed circut video feeds to examine? It just my opinion, but I think that planning for the coverup has likely begun.
Only jumping off your post to say - the Sheriff stated in one of his press briefings: they are also leaving room for the possibilty of foul play in the investigation.

I interpret this to mean, the possibility there was a disgruntled/mentally unstable employee or even an outsider, who may have caused the explosion intentionally, JMO of his meaning.

OSHA and BATF will investigate.
TOSHA is actively involved yes, as are the FBI and ATF. Many other Local, State & Federal agencies were also mentioned, don't recall them all.

Deadly explosion marks second in nearly 12 years at site in Bucksnort, Tennessee

This is not the first time a deadly explosion has happened at the rural facility. In April 2014, one man was killed and four others were injured during an explosion and fire at the plant.

It was a completely different company that had the explosion in 2014.

Looking at the state of the site, it was what I was expecting. Unfortunately I suspect the recovery work will be largely of body parts rather than bodies.

This must be an absolute catastrophe for the small rural communities in the area.
From what I've seen, they may not even have that.

I wouldn't be surprised, based on accounts, if some people wondered if it was a nuclear attack.

I am just sick over this shocking and horrific explosion. Heartwrenching for the victims, families and the community. How could this happen? The entire site is gone.

Here, last week we had a refinery explode....largest refinery on the west coast, that also supplies jet fuel.
Nothing like this awful event in Tennessee, no one was killed miraculously, the refinery has its own fire department, plus a remote controlled system of fire fighting, though still needed the help from the LA FD.

I could hear the explosion and the fire could be seen from the hills in my area south. Here too some thought it was a nuclear attack, others an earthquake.

You never know with these disasters, so unexpected and sudden.

Condolences and prayers for all affected.

I hadn’t known the sheriff had stated this possibility. It had crossed my mind that it could have been intentional, but I’m sure we all hope it was not.

Time will tell, but if it was purposely done it will be difficult, I think, to gather evidence. Unless they have a surveillance system perhaps that is stored elsewhere than in the destroyed building. Or if someone were suicidal or homicidal and left a manifesto or something at home or on the internet.

At least all the news reports have now lowered the count to 16 dead. That’s still 16 too many, but better than the earlier reports of 19 and then 18.

I daresay this will have potentially long-lasting impacts on the local ecosystem, too. Just so incredibly sad all round

Different company if you read the whole article.

So is it safe to say the missing were vaporized in the blast?

Well...this leaves much to the imagination.

Is there anything revealing in the comments?
Maybe a disgruntled employee, hard to say. Probably not much evidence left.
