An interesting development in this matter is Davidson's attorney's statement that they can prove that Channon and Davidison knew each other prior to that fateful weekend. I dont recall any such evidence in the previous trial. The defense intends to again assert that Channon and Chris voluntarily showed up at the Chipman home and that Channon voluntarily has sex with Davidson. Channons father had to leave the courtroom today after the defendants attorney testified he coudl prove these allegations. My interpretation of Mr. Christian's interview later this afternoon is that he intends to file a grievance with the Tennessee Bar against Davidson's attorneys. This will be very interesting to follow.
Davidson's defense tried that in the first trial and failed. One of Davidson's druggie friends said Channon had been to the house before, but was destroyed on cross examination.
Chris Newsom had marijuana in his system but Davidson sold cocaine, not pot. People who buy drugs do it by phone and neither victim had ever called Davidson nor had he called them.
Judge Kurtz asked Davidson's attorney "why did it matter whether they came voluntarily since they were murdered?" He had no real answer. The lead prosecutor, Takisha Fitzgerald, said this was to make the victims look bad so the jury would not give Davidson the death sentence. I agree.
