Watching testimony of two of Riley's closest friends (5/3). I wonder how Emma's family feels hearing that all of these boys knew that Riley stole his grandfather's gun.

They were concerned about him being suicidal. His best friend seems to imply he had a sense that something bad was going to happen after the whole kidnapping story. The blame for her murder lies on Riley's shoulders, but it does appear there was an opportunity for this to go another direction if other people had made different choices that weekend. They all seem like nice kids. I wonder if they feel any regret for not alerting an adult that Riley had that gun. I wonder if some of the anger they show while testifying is because they are pissed that Riley put them in such a position.

It falls into the whole "see something, say something" theme that gets discussed with all these mass shootings.

To the credit of one of his friends, he immediately called the police after Riley told him he wanted to get rid of the gun. And he was willing to wear a wire while meeting with Riley to go get rid of the gun.
