How would this apply if the child was with a babysitter though?

I imagine that if a parent tried to reach their child through a babysitter and the babysitter would not allow them to see the child or tell them where she is, the parent would be required by law to report it. Probably a good incentive to always know where your kids are and be sure they are being cared for.
If anything it would prevent parents from saying they thought their child was with a babysitter for two months and not face consequences when that child goes missing. Jmo

Aw... they're probably just sincere, compassionate people. They were put into the middle of the investigation through no fault of their own and maybe they want everyone to know they're good people who want Evelyn found just as much as everyone else.

I understand that there there are exceptions who experience contraceptive failures, but far too often, I see young men blame women for pregnancies when they took no measures on their side to prevent it. I am raising two boys. You better believe that when they reach an appropriate age, I will teach them that the female is not solely responsible for preventing pregnancy.

Absolutely! They should also be educated in the fact that women/girls lie and say they are on birth control, or don't use the BC effectively (miss a pill, miss an injection, etc.). Once they are pregnant the male is on the hook for 18 years or they have no say if the female decides to get rid of the fetus. Basically, the female has all the say even though they both "made" the baby. Males need to take control and protect themselves.

Is every missing child case this hard on everyone? I can't stand to be away from my phone, have to constantly check to see if shes been found. I read and re-read over and over to make sure I havent missed anything or misread. My heart goes out to this baby, and I cant seem to stop thinking of her.

I started here way back with Jon Benet Ramsey, it was quite different then. But I had to step away. I lurked without registering, my boys were young. I came back for Faye Marie and I’m staying. But now I have grandboys, which makes this one tough. Sometimes you have to step away or it can overwhelm you! MOO

IMO I just think that if it was a matter of another family keeping EB for awhile, AB and MB and WM and all the others would just be like enough’s enough! You don’t keep this crap going when the FBI is breathing down your neck! People are going to prison if they don’t produce that baby. Why would they keep playing these games? If it is proven that they are just hiding the kid for funsies and whatever, they are probably going to have a massive bill coming their way for wasting taxpayer resources.

What makes you think they would continue this effed up game if they didn’t have to? Why would they risk prison?

I know none of us want to believe that something bad happened, but obviously something bad happened or they would bring the truth to light and show the world that they aren’t horrible monsters who threw away a baby.

IMO the only thing that would keep people playing these games is trying to avoid a murder charge. Anything else, any other possible charges unrelated to EB, are nothing compared to finding and bringing home EB. Any prosecutor would take your cooperation in a missing child case (saving the day!) into account very favorably when deciding whether to charge you with burglary or drug possession or whatever you’re trying to hide from.

Someone involved seriously harmed this baby.

Here's why it's odd to me...there are many towns close to Blountville ( Johnson City, Jonesborough, Bluff City, I could go on and on ) and those towns didn't hold prayer vigils. But the very town MB just happens to mention in her interview last night, decides all of a sudden to hold a prayer vigil ? I mean, God Bless them, Evelyn can never have enough prayers sent up for her, but the timing is just exceedingly odd, imo.

I don’t post very often however I have been following this case closely.
A few observations I have made are that MB is very immature with limited knowledge in how the world really works. I’m curious how much day to day care of EB she was involved in from the beginning?
The comments she has made sound more like something a sibling would say not a mother.
As someone that came from an extremely toxic and emotionally controlling environment her fear of her mother seems very “normal” in the sense that she is scared yet trusting. She may not have ever really had the position of EB’s mother. Again she could be some sociopathic mastermind but that doesn’t really seem to fit.
I think she is assuming her role of confused, scolded, girl. There isn’t anyone to tell her what to do right now and she is a babbling mess, she’s more than likely had to lie her entire life and doesn’t know the truth or doesn’t know how to tell the truth without embellishments.

I think it’s specifically because they were named by her. They’re involved now because of her. They probably want people to see they’re a town full of good people who care and they’re not hiding a kidnapped baby.

Personally, Everytime I try to watch an interview with MB talking makes me so aggravated. All the "Like you know" or " Like...this or that" drives me bonkers! Like NO! WE DON'T KNOW!
Still seems the reporters are befriending her to keep her talking to them. I do not know how they restrain themselves from asking questions that will get under her skin!!!!
She stated something along the lines of "She's the sweetest baby you will ever meet. She will want to hug you when she sees you" well I have a 13 month old granddaughter that WILL NOT do that because at that stage they usually go through the stranger phase???.
