@Mountain_Kat I missed the part about

Idk, it could go either way. Her charges are related to the car LE were looking for but I’ve not seen anything saying why they were looking for the car. Ie it was the last car EB was seen in.

I asked a mod to clarify.

Her charge was violation of probation. Because she left the state, I’m guessing? The other guy was charged with theft of over $2,500.

This says they were both charged with possession of stolen property related to the car.

is that a local court rule from your/her area? Because my court allows you to bring anything that isn’t dangerous or liquid. They just search your bag or x-ray it. I had the joy (sarcasm) of being in both superior court and federal court this week as a witness in two cases and everyone had bags with them.

Yes, she was leaving our local courthouse, so I was just commenting on my confusion as to why this woman was carrying a shoulder bag when that is clearly not allowed. Obviously, she was accompanying MB in some official capacity, but that didn't occur to me right away. Probably because I had a knee jerk reaction due to having to walk back to the car and dump my purse so many times. ;)

Depending. In most cultures that would be the case. But there are some people in the US from different cultures that operate outside societal norms, completely distrust government, don’t have SSN’s, and travel half the year, who can easily disappear and hide a child among their many associates and extended family. Most of whom are related somehow. And who may not be shy or unused to jail.

Somebody here (I think, or at least hope) did mention that the family surname is the same as that of the family who features heavily in "My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding".

I'm thinking that's a big fat clue they might be Romany, myself.

Are any searches being conducted for Evelyn?

None that involve the public. Prayer vigil tomorrow night...that's all I've heard.

Google says it’s a Scottish name (of Norman origin)

In my opinion, she is completely culpable. She alone was this child's LEGAL custodial parent, and she abandoned this child (completely, for over 2 months !) to the care of someone so unstable that she allegedly feared to report the child missing for fear of what this "caretaker" might do once "things went down" ?

I do NOT care if she's young...I do not care if she came from a horrid family situation ( welcome to the rest of us)...I don't care if she was afraid for her own safety...I absolutely DO NOT CARE. She had a moral and legal obligation to protect this child and she made the choice to abandon her. There is no excuse for that, and honestly, yes , any attempts to defend this girl pisses me TF off. They just do, and I own it. (Not that you ARE defending her...I'm just venting off of your post.)

(No offense intended to anyone.)
BBM

I actually DO care that she’s young. Not if she has harmed Evelyn and is lying about it—that’s a whole different thing. But I think being so young can explain (not excuse) trusting people she shouldn’t, especially growing up in the environment she has. As others have said—chaos and dysfunction is normal for her. And when you’re such a young mom you will need your family —even if they’re not the greatest.

I don’t know, I might be in the minority but I find her interview sad and genuine. Obviously she isn’t being completely truthful, because we’ve been told that by LE, but I think she may be a pawn in whatever game is being played as well. Being young and inexperienced in life helps explain to me how that could have happened.

I’m hanging on to LE saying they believe Evelyn is alive. I hope so!

She wasn't arrested in connection to Evelyn's disappearance.
She was arrested for auto theft and wanted for questioning.
Exactly why I wonder why it says ARRESTS on the thread title.

Not with those names. But hypothetically there is another group that appears on that show. Irish Travellers.

I don't find it genuine to watch a mother try to tell the public how desperately she wants their child back, when she, by her own admission, hadn't set eyes on the child in over 2 months.

I do, however, find it incredibly sad. Not for the mother, but certainly for the child.

Thanks for that. She’s pretty well spoken and seems intelligent. Bizarre case.
She might be well spoken but she's not acting like she hasn't seen her toddler in two months. She's acting like what phrases Evelyn was saying and what song she loved is somehow current information. It's been two months...

In most cases we get upset when a parent refers to a missing child in the past tense but in this case I find it strange that she's not. It's definitely bizarre.

Her statements just don't add up.

Someone posted HW, but I haven't seen anything officially. I would also like to know when it was reported missing. Feb. 18th or long before, etc.

I surmise that primarily because a small-town small business owner (chicken shack), also seems like a good candidate for someone who would be able to buy/interested in owning an older secondhand BMW.

I could of course be wrong.

JMO, MOO, IMO, all that jazz.

I did some digging. Indeed it can be a British Romani name. I was wrong. But I don’t believe they are. (I’m Romani myself).

That’s very true. But it remains my opinion that she is well spoken and intelligent. Could make the case harder for LE. Depending on how honest she decides to be.

Yes. And the very quick “I just want her back.” every other answer made me think of Chris Watts.

Thanks, I've never watched the show (too much scripted TV out there for me to get it all done); so had just skimmed a couple of recap descriptions to confirm the part about the surname being the same.

Of course this is all hypothetical. But I do see that one name can be a crossover. Anything with Mc in it, isn’t.
