Chattanooga is a beautiful city and there are lots of safe places. There are places to stay away from, just like any other city. Her description of the area was very accurate and not very many people like talking about those things.

Before I moved to Signal Mtn, I was raised in Dunlap and the stories you hear about "backwoods" people and corruption is unbelievable there!

You know, I'm sorry, but I just don't like these stereotypes of "backwoods people" being one way or another. Most people in Chattanooga are nothing like that. There are no people like that involved in this story so far.

Ghetto? Maybe houses that aren't up to par next to brand-new $400,000 homes might be an eyesore, but I think ghetto is pretty harsh language.

I've never heard of "Timesville" so that's not general knowledge off the mountain, I guess. Hadn't heard about that wall. I think that's pretty funny, actually.

Do we really think that anyone who lived in the woods behind this development had anything to do with this woman's disappearance? I for one do not. So far there's no evidence beyond the family problems.

Let me put it this way, I would feel safer at night walking through the McCallie Homes than I would walking through Timesville. Numerous reports of people having guns pulled on them down there over the years, and one or two murders.

Timesville Road is the first left past the Walden's Ridge Service Station and the abandoned BP. You go down that street half a mile and you drop into a ravine that takes you into this community, complete with a spooky church (that I wouldn't be surprised if it had rattle snake handling as an attraction), abandoned shacks and houses collapsing, naked 3 year olds running around, dirty 4 foot high above ground pools, and numerous dirt roads that even I was too scared to go down any of them. Originally, Timesville was conceived as becoming a seperate town from Walden and Signal Mtn in the 1920s, but the idea fell through and alot of the bigger houses in that area are now collapsing, with people living in them.

I'm saying that if the husband (who I am in no way of accusing of anything or trying to insinuate as being responsible for her disappearance at this point), wanted to hide a body, the area around St. Ives is the perfect place to do so.

I never said it had anything to do with the case. Not to mention, I was talking about Dunlap, not Signal.

My husband is from Chattanooga, I lived there for several years and have friends on Signal Mountain. As someone else said, there are both good and bad areas of town. It is a beautiful city. I hope this lady is found safe. Prayers to her family.

Gotcha ~ I see what you're saying now. ;)

One thing I keep wondering about that was mentioned early on: the three bank accounts for which the missing woman changed the pin numbers. Did she withdraw some or any of the money? Has she used her new pin numbers anywhere in the area? There's so much we don't know about that, but it would be another way for police to track her whereabouts.

I just bought a house on the back of the mtn. There are some scary things that go on Signal Mountain that are either swept under the rug or unacknowledged because they are out of jurisdiction of both Walden and the city of Signal Mtn, but not in Sequatchie Co. Having also lived in the city limits, I can say that I don't have much faith in the SMPD. It's sad to say, but when you hear the late shift officers clowning around on their CBs and loudspeakers in the Taco Bell parking lot regularly, or have been tailed home regularly after midnight for no reason whatsoever than for their own entertainment, then you start to become quite cynical. There are some outstanding officers, such as Greg Hill, Scott O, and the lady officer who's name escapes me at the moment that take their job seriously, but there are also quite a few who feel the need to show their toughness for no apparent reason.

This is all directly related to the current case because it is going to take some work from outside if this lady doesn't turn up somewhere soon. The last thing the town of Signal Mtn. wants is to have another national news story like the 4 wheeler murders became.

I see no evidence of an organized search for GP. Am hoping those local to this case know of something that has been printed. There really is a minute amount of MSM articles for a missing mother...strange.

Welcome to Signal Mountain.

I'm at work (don't tell the boss), but I just talked to my mother, who still lives on the mtn and is well connected, and the only things she has heard are unsavory rumors and innuendo (again... welcome to Signal Mountain). There was obviously a lot going in this marriage that have made things rather complicated, at this point.

One theory that I haven't seen yet is whether or not she could be suicidal. Her family and friends seem to discount that notion, but there are a lot of strange things lurking beneath the surface (again... welcome to Signal Mountain).

How do we access those public docs?

Typically you head on down to the courthouse and request the file. If you want to copy them for any reason, there is usually a machine that needs quarters. If it is public record, and it must be because media had the docs, well then they are available via FOIA.

Long time lurker, new member here...

I’ve lived on Signal Mountain for 35 years and know its advantages and drawbacks very well. It’s a "hush" community- if something goes wrong, it won’t make the news until it is a catastrophe. You still have to search the web or read the Times Free Press to find news of this story... very little, if any, coverage on the nightly WTVC, WDSI or WDEF 11 o’clock news. WRCB has featured the case.

What should be noted is that St. Ives is directly connected to the Timesville area, which most people of money on the mountain avoid visiting or discussing. I lived in Applewood when they started construction on St. Ives, and since it runs directly into the Timesville community area around Applewood, St. Ives, and Timesville would’ve made the perfect place to dispose of someone. St. Ives was built on the old “motorbike” pits, which drew in a very shady crowd, with lots of drugs and rural crime taking place- as well as stills. Building St. Ives in that specific area was about the dumbest idea any developer could’ve come up with, because it is directly connected to one of the poorest areas on the mountain. It would still be very easy to hide something in this area. The woods behind the neighborhoods are miles deep and still probably filled with marijuana plants and shady activity.

Respectfully snipped and bolded by me: Are Timesville and St Ives worthwile places to distribute posters and do you know of any motobike gangs that still might hang out there?

TIA.

I couldn't agree more! We lived on Corral and then Fox Run. I can't tell you how many times I was tailed home late at night or pulled over for no reason. Once was around 11:00 at night, and I went to drop my water bill off in the drop box and the lady that patrols for the County pulled me over wanting to know why I pulled out of the water company and then said she thought I wasn't wearing my seat belt. I ALWAYS wear my seat belt, my boyfriend is a paramedic so that is something we both feel strongly on. I chalk it up to her being bored and thinking she could find something to get someone on.

I think that a search is an excellent option in order to, perhaps, rule out her disappearance being associated with an accident of some kind. If there are no plans currently, then perhaps other leads are being followed that take priority. Sounds like we have so many locals posting here, there might be some willing participants if it comes to that!!!

Granted I have not had the opportunity to watch much of the local news as of late, but I have not heard anything in regards to this woman being missing from any of our local stations.. I did ask several of my customers today IF they had heard anything on the local news about the incident and only one person said they had heard about it...

I think Channel 3, Times Free Press, and the Chattanoogan are the only places locally that have covered it. I don't know about radio stations. I would imagine US101 has mentioned something about it.

I would like to take a moment to say Hi to our guests-jump on in with your perspective and thoughts on finding this special woman. We know her children are missing her something fierce.

Thank you-I wonder if they would respond to a show of interest in getting the story covered?

A relative and myself were both tailed and pulled over also after leaving a relatives home in Walden one night around midnight..I had stopped in St. Augustine's parking lot waiting for another relative to follow me down the mtn since they didn't want to drive down the "W" road..They pulled both of us over and wanted to know what we were doing out that late at night...

I think Channel 3 would. They are usually very receptive in the public input. Just my opinion, I think that channel 3 has more of an accurate news coverage than any other media in the area. News Channel 9 seems to get facts mixed up more often than not. Callie Starnes from channel 3 is a GREAT investigative reporter and would be a great person to try to help get the word out more. She is the one who followed the Tanya Craft case from beginning to end and did an amazing job.

A friend of mine was pulled over a few weeks ago and while he was running her license, she was putting trash in a Wal-Mart bag. The "usual" two officers that do this, came up to her and made her get out and said they had probable cause to search her car for putting trash in a bag.

I hate that they do this, but it's like they have nothing better to do than try to point fingers at anyone they can.

My boyfriend was pulled over one day and instead of telling him why he was being pulled over they started asking him if he knew anything about someone burning the Signal Mtn sign. He had no idea what they were talking about!!

I hope that TBI or the FBI gets involved in this because I am not very convinced that SMPD can handle this.
