Ghetto? Maybe houses that aren't up to par next to brand-new $400,000 homes might be an eyesore, but I think ghetto is pretty harsh language.

I've never heard of "Timesville" so that's not general knowledge off the mountain, I guess. Hadn't heard about that wall. I think that's pretty funny, actually.

They are not necessarily referring to the cost of homes when referring to Timesville as ghetto. If you will read earlier posts, the people who live in Timesville are compared to the movie Deliverance!

Here is my 2-cents worth... If she called the police because he 'wouldn't ride in the car with the family', that is 'bizarre' behavior. It seems as though leaving the children alone is 'unusual' behavior for her. If she has been on anti-depressant meds or changed meds lately, have you seen the side-effects of some of these meds? Some of them include suicidal or homicidal thoughts. As far as the Dad getting temporary custody and a restraining order (which makes it so that she cannot 'dispose of marital assets), that would be understandable considering the 'unknowns'. My concern would be her mental status. Maybe she was worrying that she would harm the kids as a side effect of her meds and wanted to get away to get her 'head clear'. I had a friend who started a new anti-depression med, seemed to work great, she was doing very well on it and then committed suicide! We had no idea that she was even suicidal - she seemed on top of the world.

IMO, you can rarely tell what is going on in someone's mind, especially if to them it seems 'bizarre'. Most people don't want to admit they are having bad thoughts even if it might save their life.

I read that is what HE told the police. She may have changed her mind or gone along with his story, for many reasons. She could have had thoughts about wanting to harm herself but where is her car? More people commit suicide due to depression than to antidepressants. The theory of some doctors is that depressed people do not have the energy to commit suicide. When a medication they are taking gives them energy, off they go (a very small percentage of them). This explains why people are more likely to attempt suicide, only when they first start taking the meds. In fact it is in the first 9 days they are most at risk before medicine has even really kicked in yet: http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/07/21/1090089219002.html?from=storylhs

As for her kids, I think it is very rare for an antidepressant to influence one to be violent towards others and if I was a juror in a court of law, I definitely would not accept that excuse.

That kind of thinking freaks me out a little bit. I told my mom once- with the fact that I have a medical history and have taken antidepressants etc., if I was a murder suspect that would be smeared all over and everyone would believe it! (we were watching a crime show). Depression, and antidepressants, are incredibly common these days as others have said. Until we find her, we only have HIS word to go on, and he is clearly trying to paint a picture, and it is not the one of someone who is concerned about her. I find his behavior, bizarre in it's own way.

Lots of good work and thinking going on here. Yes she might have driven off the road some where, yes she could have abandoned her vehicle some where...I dont think we have enough info regarding the "husband jumped out of the car" scenario to make even educated guesses. I doubt she logged a 911 call with the kids in the car because they were having a spat. Was anyone impaired by sleep for example? How did he exit the vehicle and were any threats made by anyone? What if he, just a stretch here, said he was going to harm himself? I mean, we just dont know.

:(.

Gail where are you? If you are safe, please let someone know even if it is an intermediary. So many are worried for you.

Between the community's "culture" of sweeping problems under the rug, and the "family" (whoever that is) position of wanting to stay out of the spotlight, it appears that much potentially useful information is being withheld. It looks like the desire for privacy would be overcome by desperation to find her at some point, but this doesn't seem to be happening yet. Of course, without release of anything "official," rumor, gossip, etc. becomes the only way to get information, and that's what is happening in this case.

So, I'm back to this article: http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2011/may/12/missing-womans-husband-seeks-custody-children/

Some of the comments under it are vicious, but there's also an undercurrent of allegations in them that probably are worth some investigation by somebody, in my opinion. There is at least one relevant (possibly) addition since last night. I simply can't find anything else new or different that could be followed up on.

You know, I have been pondering the protecting the children issue confused and others mentioned earlier on.

Why not just keep them with her? She had de facto custody when they were with her at the Lake house. Why return at all if she was planning on running away with them?

That dog dont hunt, as they say.

OK the black eye comment is concerning taken in totality with the other logged incidents, but perhaps Gail was clumsy.

OKAY.... been watching and reading for the last few days and I now feel the need to voice my OPINION.

These people appear to be very intelligent individuals. Both have the ability for a having a super employment. Not necessarily dependent on the other financially.

At first glance one would think that the husband would be too intelligent to be handling this so callously if he were guilty. But throw in the possibility of (rumor) of a chemical dependancy.... that changes everything. I wish they would call for all out searches for this woman in two states ASAP. Time is a wasteing!!! The longer she is not found the more evidence that is missing. In my opinion it is very irresponsible for LE to let this go any further.

Thanks, Fran. And defnitely yes. I have PLENTY of suggestions, but none in my power to do. It's LE and court actions that I think of.

I will say, though, that I agree with the opinion mentioned earlier in one of these 350+ posts, that distant family may not know as much as they think they do. I think her close friends should be listened to very carefully. Typically, friends confide in each other when things get too rough. Interestingly, though, it appears that the distant family and the local friends have similar views. Friends just might have more details.

Sorry, but I'm more inclined to believe she allowed herself to become a victim of physical abuse from her spouse..JMHO

The DL and CCs is a big ? at this point. Did she drive all the way to AL without them? Leave them at home when she dropped the kids off? Did she even take a purse or just the ATM card?

Not much news in this case. LE keeping tight lipped and the family doesn't want it to go national. Her brother stated FBI had been contacted, but I don't know if they are involved yet. In adult MPs cases, I tend to think LE...or maybe the City Mgr in this case, may have a problem with strained resouces for the searches unless foul play becomes somewhat of a reality. imo

That is really odd to me. I can only think of a few reasons why someone wouldn't want a missing persons case to go national. I'm wonding if the family is maybe expecting (or have already received) some sort of ransom request. The other reasons I can think of for keeping Mrs. Palmgren's disappearance under wraps would be if there was strong evidence to indicate that she left voluntarily or someone on the inside is responsible. Again, I am NOT accusing anyone of wrong doing. Simply putting my thoughts out there.

Maybe the family, upon finally making some local contacts have been convinced that Gail does, indeed, have some personal issues that mitigate the disappearance. It's a possibility ... perhaps this is why they don't want things to go national.
