I also read neighbors said Palmgren has not allowed the couple’s two children to be allowed outside the home much. I cannot even begin to imagine what those two children are going through right now...JMHO

It is my opinion that this observation by the neighbors is absolutely wrong! even Arlene said they had been boating down on the lake, and I have heard of several other places they have gone already. possibly they aren't out in the neighborhood for fear of the media, nosey neighbors, inquiring sleuths...

IMO...It's apparent the neighbors aren't wrong IF the children aren't allowed out in the neighborhood..To my knowledge the neighbor was not speaking of any other outings other than what has been observed when MP and the children are at home...JMHO

I hope the kids aren't being told that Gail ran off and left them, because she's probably going to be found ill, hurt, or worse. Or if she's never found at all, they'll grow up and realize she probably didn't leave of her own accord.

I agree, I don't think the siblings would have filed this unless they were very worried about MP on multiple levels -- involvement in her disappearance, taking advantage of the situation by possibly selling joint property, bad-mouthing Gail, etc.

first off, IMHO the kids probably have the best idea of anyone where Gail was heading, and her state of mind when she drove away. Anyone with a kid knows you don't drop them off and leave without answering a dozen questions from them. Kids are also very perceptive to their parents moods.

Also, in MHO this is an attempt by the siblings to keep the story in the media and tie Matt to SM for a while. until Gail disappeared, <modsnip>. Neither of them live close, so visitation would require travel by someone...the kids? It's fairly obvious to me that the siblings got some legal advice and are following it. seems very similar to the initial filings Matt made which he was heavily criticized for

Let's say that it is my very certain opinion that the kids are staying busy (doing kid/summer things) IMHO they are having as normal a summer as possible.

For me when I think of MP, shades of Josh Powell comes to mind so I'm praying MP isn't allowed to leave the State of Tennessee until Gail is found.....JMHO

Maybe, just maybe the kids don't want to be outside in the neighborhood...it could be their choice, not Matt's rule. Did the neighbor say anything about the fact that temps have been in the 90's and humidity is awful, or did the neighbor say what percentage of time the kids usually spend out in the neighborhood? My guess is that a 9 and 12 year old don't spend tons of time hanging out in the yard anyway. (I would think computers, videos games, etc. Would be more in line for kids that age.) One final thought, since Matt is not working, he has lots of time to take them other places for other things.

IMO and EXPERIENCE with kids of this age in this socio-economic group and type of neighborhood.....a normal summer for kids of 9 and 12 would be baseball and soccer and swim team and junior golf and tennis and art classes and music lessons and perhaps a summer camp week or two for training in a favorite sport or with a church group or scout camp. Free time would be spent constantly swimming and hanging out at friends homes, or friends coming over to their home for the day to do the same. Video games and computers would be for "at home" time in the late evenings after 8 or 9 pm when it is appropriate for kids their age to be at home for the night......except for frequent sleepovers with friends of course. Weekends would be spent at baseball or soccer tournaments, or swim meets and a few trips to the lake or beach when possible. BUT....that is just from my own experiences growing up and also having had kids this age relatively recently. Dads/moms who didn't have to work would be coaches and transportation managers and devoted to their kids activities.....especially if there were some kind of family crisis that would mean the kids needed extra attention and some distraction from worry.

IMOO, if MP does have problems with subtance abuse as speculated, then their actions are valid. MP's quest of his filings in court didn't stand up to the smell test, imo. LE even stated they could find no reason for his psychiatric claims.

With all the reports of MP not letting the children to talk to LE...don't you find this troubling? Why not let children talk to help glean anything they might have seen or heard over that day...or w/e?

I think it is a bit of a stretch to say the siblings are attempting to keep the story in the media....this way. They have been keeping the investigation and its details quiet on their end. I also would like to point out that the public is not privy to the relationship of the siblings, there has only been speculation. Life sometimes happens, and I have gone months without speaking to my siblings which does not mean that I love them less or would not make every effort to see their children in this situation.

This is true. I can confirm that at least one of the children has been enjoying an active summer.

I dont know that the siblings of Gail have a losing hand here-at a minimum it is going to keep MP and the kids in the area for the next 30-60 days while it works its way through the courts. Then it is school again.

Beyond that, the kids are of an age that a judge will take into consideration their desires as well. The judge can question them, the judge can have a court appointed counselor question them, the judge can appoint a GAL for a period of time to evaluate Matt's fitness as a parent. I wondered early on if they would take this action-I wonder what has changed that they took it now.

As for the money angle-well they are protecting Gail's interests in her joint property by preventing the liquidation of it. MP must be pretty tight for money now, which is unfortunate. I am certain that his family in the area will help him get by.

If Kevin and Diane wanted to keep this in the media, all they would have to do is give an interview.This document was filed with the court not the news station. (To clarify I don't think they are using this as a tool to keep this in the media.)

IMO, they are protecting the money of their sister and looking out for their niece and nephew.
If Gail should return,it would be a shame if her money was spent and assets sold without her consent,specifically because we know she did not want this to happen and was taking active measures to prevent it. We do know her wishes in this regard and perhaps her siblings are helping to honor those wishes.

I can confirm that at least within the first couple weeks LE was not given access to the children for questioning. I do not know beyond that. I will double check this if I can and report back later today.

Thanks, Holly. I'm just trying to keep straight in my own head what has been in MSM or LE docs, and what has come from elsewhere.

IIRC, what Arlene said in the SMM interview is that she said to LE "go talk to the kids", and they said they couldn't because they didn't have probable cause to do so.
