I don't think it has changed. I think MP said Gail was paranoid and delusional and AD said she was not. I think that's still her POV.

The point is that in AD first statements she claimed that there was no way the GP had any mental issues at all .... or she was the queen of england. Well there is issues not sure what kind at this point, Not enough information. But that is a pretty powerful cocktail of drugs. When Jammer in the the first interview asked her about gails mental health she had no clue as to medication or what doctors she was seeing... NOw she knows everything including why she was taking them for. How does she know have the new information did she talk to GAil?

I've got to give it up and go to bed, but some preliminary searching the internet has turned up some articles about Adderall being prescribed off label for depression sometimes. No verified source I would be ready to link, but there's some info out there. Maybe somebody else can take it from here.

Why in the world would anyone who loved someone post a picture of a document on their facebook page about the medications her friend is taking? I can think of fewer things more intensely private.

Possibly to prove a point that what was being reported by her husband was not quite true. Those 4 meds have nothing to do with the treatment of paranoid/delusional patients. A mildly depressed patient with ADD Dx since high school...yes. The meds one person takes is not indicative of the value or social worth of a person (some may think otherwise as there seems to be a "stigma" attached to taking meds for depression and ADD). Just because someone is prescribed meds....should not be a shameful thing. I for one would not mind if my best friend posted the meds my significant other had stated I was currently taking, if I disappeared. Especaiily to prove a point that the story of my meds was being spun to suit another scenario...and throw people in a different direction.

Furthermore...at this late stage I really think it is unrealistic to think we will see Gail just come home and walk through the door....Unfortunately, and sadly I don't think this is gonna happen. How does placing the 4 meds (listed in Matt's separation court docs) in which he filed against Gail within the first 6 days since she went missing hurt Gail?

:twocents:I would not be embarrassed at all. I would want people to know I was not a certified paranoid delusional mess. By the way...the meds listed are NOT recommended for use in patients with psychotic issues. Therefore, if she was under the CURRENT care of said (named) psychiatrist as listed in Matt's court docs ... then I don't think her Dr. would have prescribed something for Gail that was contraindicated based on her medical/psychiatric and current prescription/non-prescription meds history. I would think he (her Dr.) would have a current medical/mental Hx before prescribing any meds for his patient. A mild Depression yes ( I know I would be if I had to deal with a husband like Matt and a recent death of my Dad & brother)...possibly...BUT... Major psychiatric issues NO...not in my opinion.

Interesting. Do we know if Gail had any issues with narcolepsy or related sleep disorders? Any hypersomnia at all?

Also, I looked a bit further into amitriptyline. I see it is prescribed sometimes as a migraine preventive. Did she have migraines?

Since 1982, I have been on 75 mg. of amitryptline that I take at bedtime as a migraine preventative. It has been very effective, and every physician I have ever consulted since then has always prescribed it once he/she learned I suffer from migraines--even the two physicians who treated me when I wound up inpatient in the hospital unexpectedly as a result of accidents.

FWIW, What makes anyone think that people believed Matt P's statement to begin with? It was a leap at best, because LE shot it down so quickly. I think I would have taken that into consideration before I published a list of medications my friend was taking. And, it seems the list of meds and the proof are coming into play some what late given that Matt P withdrew his motion.

I absolutely agree she was not on Adderall in high school, but that doesn't mean she wasn't diagnosed with ADHD in my opinion. Gail could have been on other drugs prior to Adderall or on no drug therapy at all.

Drug therapy began in the late 1980s, not Adderall specifically of course, but stimulants. In 1980, the DSM-III officially adopted the term ADHD rather than the previously-used term "hyperkenetic" and noted that drugs which were stimulants were useful in treatment.

Well, the problem is we have no idea if it's a "cocktail" at all. No one knows which med she was taking or for what reason, only that she was at some point prescribed the meds on that list.

AD has said in interviews that in our society many people are depressed and she IMHO doesn't consider it a mental health problem. Here are relevant parts of the Jammer interview as an example:

J: There are a lot of reports that Gail was depressed. There were a lot of mental instability, that there was a lot of unstableness. Did you see that in her?

A: No.

J: Nothing? Ever?

A: Him, yes. Her, no.

J: Him yes, her no?

A: Yeah.

and later:

A: I mean, she was a little depressed because she questioned how much of her marriage was a true marriage, but how many people in America are not depressed with today's society?

So I don't think her story has changed in this specific regard. She seems to just disagree that depression is a mental illness.

Frankly, I think using the initials AD for a person and ADD for Gail's diagnosis is causing some confusion here

A lot of Arlene's stories have changed. She's said Gail was depressed, and that Gail was not depressed. That Gail went to the lake house on the 30th unexpectedly, and that it was a trip planned for several days. That Matt came home Thursday night from the conference, and that Matt came home Friday from the conference. And more.

Arlene was consistent at first, but then as she did more media, she couldn't seem to sustain it, and her stories began to change.

It's unfortunate. For me, it makes her a less reliable source of information, which is further compounded because much of what she says hasn't been confirmed by an additional source.
