On its Facebook page, Bro. Roy Wyatt is said to helm Darden Baptist. On its Facebook page, Corinth Baptist lists Don Franks as the pastor. Separate entities. Corinth Baptist appears to be the larger player.

A Facebook page, is proof of nothing, IMO. Anybody can make a fb page.
That's why I went to an outside source like whitepages. Or a Bing map.

Is there some ambiguity as to jurisdiction in Darden. This would be Sheriff Brian Dukes county, Henderson. And Sheriff Wyatt is Parsons and Decatur. Both are equally involved? Is that correct?

And your point regarding the two churches in terms of this case is?

  • #704
My point is the Sheriff involved in the case is also a pastor in this very small community.
If he were Sheriff of Decatur and also a pastor in say Busseltown or New Stafford, I would have no questions regarding the church? of Darden Baptist.

"Speaking to local media, Holly Bobo’s mother Karen Bobo has discussed the constant worry about her daughter, as well as the continued interest from the media. Then there are the legions of psychics and amateur sleuths who want to help, and there are people online who constantly speculate about the case." http://100gf.wordpress.com/2011/10/...after-nearly-six-months-no-sign-of-any-leads/

And... What is this writer trying to say?
Afterall his article is on the internet, and it accepts comments.

This article has me :waitasec:

"As Bobo's 21st birthday approaches, there is still no sign of THE TRUTH ABOUT HER DISAPPEARANCE BEING REVEALED"

It is the "being revealed" I find interesting. It suggests the facts regarding her abduction are known but are being kept under wraps. There again, maybe it was just misstated and I am reading way too much into that sentence.

*sigh*

Bumping this again:

Holly, your birthday is coming up soon. I can't imagine how painful this must be for the people who know and love you. And I'm concerned that it might mean your missing status might change.

Hoping and praying to bring you home safe before then.

With six months approaching, does a case like this ever get officially called a "cold case"?

Is it up to TBI to declare it a cold case?

I also wonder if the sooner it is declared cold the better it might be, or am I wrong? I would think that allows new detectives to look at evidence, etc...

Also, when a case is declared cold, does that allow the family to have their own PI look at LE's case files?

A PI can be hired at any point- whether a day into an investigation, a week, month, etc- and it does not matter if the case has been declared hot, cold, or neutral by LE.
Access to records (and evidence or other info) IMO totally depends upon the case, the PI's reputation, the LE agency with possession and access to the records- and then of course the foia regs.

I feel like I am having a six of one/half dozen of another day, lol. :(

It is just a collection of words by someone who wanted to write them. It is not a news article from the media. It could have been written by some curious soul simply following the case, as we are, for all we know.

Early on in the case, I had a weird feeling about one of the Pastors. I don't remember his name. He was on the news a lot talking about a specific scripture though. Holly's favorite scripture. It rubbed me the wrong way.

Wait a minute. The neighbor claims they heard HB screams. But, CB didn't hear them?

There is blood in the driveway, carport, (usual ambiguity), but no blood trail that dogs followed. No one answered where the dogs lost scent is there?

Also I came across the lunchbox again. Does not say bag. It says white lunchbox near a creek 8 miles away. Does anybody know where it was found? Was it near a highway?
Like Route 69 where the slideshow showed people on the ground in a line searching on their hands and knees?

Nobody came up with any info on the Darden Baptist Church yet either. I just know I have never heard of a church who's only contact reference is a facebook page.

Edit: Nevermind. Someone has thoughtfully created two links to Darden Baptist Church yesterday so that the fb page is no longer the only link. It NOW has a listing on two find-a-church sites.

About the pastors and churches...

Don Franks - pastor of Corinth Baptist, the church the Bobos attend

Sheriff Wyatt - pastor of Darden Baptist

Kevin Bromley - the family's spokesman and pastor of First Baptist

ETA: The family does not attend the same church as either their spokesman or the sheriff.

Our little country church (and when I say little, I mean 15 members) did not have a phone and it's mailing address was a PO box. I'm guessing it would have very little to no internet presence., in terms of sleuthing.

And I'm not entirely convinced that this is an abduction by a stranger - or an abduction at all..........

Addendum: Just googled the church (ours) - it shows up as a business established 165 years ago (in reality, it was founded 110 years ago)and lists my husband as the minister (he left three years ago)

Holly Bobo's mother contacts TBI every day

For Karen Bobo, the lack of information has been unbearable and dealing with the public eye is difficult. Trips to the salon turn into a spectacle, and she now has to get her hair done after hours.

Karen Bobo said she checks in with the TBI every day.

And for the last two months, she has been getting the same reply.

"Of course, their answer is, 'not today,'" she said. "We're just not hearing anything, and of course, almost six months into it, it just gets more frustrating every day and harder every day."

This is such a terrible thing for a mother, father, and brother to have to go through. I hope and pray they find Holly and soon.

Well, there is one person at least who knows the truth, and that is the person who took Holly. Whether anyone else knows the truth is still a mystery.
I agree it could've been worded a little better, but real journalism seems to be a thing of the past. Especially online articles.

Interesting questions. Where I live, a case like this would not be called a cold case in only six months. LE has been known to actively work on cases for years, and some have been solved after years of investigation.
I don't think they are going to announce it to the public when and if they declare it a cold case. But I also believe it is nowhere near that point yet.
With a case like this, with very little physical evidence involved, it's going to hinge on the leads and tips that come in, along with thousands of interviews to solve the case. Or finding Holly, which is their main goal.

I think the family could hire a PI at anytime, but I doubt it would be much help at this point. A PI is not going to find out anything that LE has not, and LE does not have to share what they do have with a PI. Plus, they are expensive and I doubt the Bobos have that kind of money. LE won't charge the family a dime, it's all free.

Just because there is no news released to the public, does not make it a cold case. There may not be anything they can report right now. They probably know way more than we think but nothing they can talk about in public.

Snipped

Here is a map that shows where the lunchbox was
found.

A warm car with her cellphone and the abductor's camo still inside reported found? Found and reported to the media by whom?
That is just about the dumbest thing I have ever read on a case. EVER!
You mean to tell me that she was "abducted" on the 13th and a car with her cell phone was found 12 miles from her home on the 15th?

And not JUST a white lunchbox. But a lunchbox and DUCT TAPE?!

I guess I missed the news article about the trail of breadcrumbs leading from the car. :floorlaugh:

I have never seen an actual LE release that says the cell phone was found. There have been various RUMORS that it was found at various times or locations. On TV Karen said IIRC that she did not know if the phone was found or not.

There have been no official LE reports of a car being found. Aparently there was scanner chatter about a car but it belonged to a hunter and was not related to the case as far as we know .

Holly is said to have had a lunch bag, although in some reports its been said to be a box or a lunch purse. Its apparently a satchel like bag. It was found by the side of the road some miles from Holly's house. It was not found in a stream. There have not been any photos released of the bag. Reports say it seems that it could have been tossed from a passing car. Dana Bobo has said he felt it was planted there as a rouse.

A piece of very newish, untangled looking, duct tape was found beside the road in some other location. Some reports say it has had blonde hair stuck to it. It is unknown if the tape is even related to the case as no word has been made of it. The tape is real. I have posted a frame grab from a video showing it being found several times in the past. To me the tape does not look like it had been stuck to anyone or anything. Kind of odd.

Sadly a lot of news articles, especially older ones, are incorrect or seem to be incorrect.

Just wanted to clarify about the lunchbag's location. Most MSM articles do say the lunchbag was found by, near or in the creek, about 8 miles from her home, according to reports.
