What this case needed was a good investigative reporter - but those, for print media, are few and far between in these days of plummeting sales and adjustment to the medium of the internet. I'm amazed this case didn't attract someone, though.

It's attracted plenty....but these people don't talk.

A good investigative reporter working full-time at a major newspaper (hello, Tennessean?) would file at least one informative story every 4-5 days - something that would hold an audience and keep them coming back for the next installment. Haven't seen that at all here.

A paper of its caliber - nationally known - would once upon a time have a good reporter for its rural stories, someone who knew the mindset and talked the talk. Not necessarily so now.

Now, there still are those who could get these stories but they're free-lancers saving the material for a book. Papers can't afford to keep them.

Just a few observations from a day 1 case follower:

*I don't recall Clint ever saying he didn't think the person in the garage was Holly. He thought it was Holly and Drew. And a turkey.

*On day 1, this case was a "Home Invasion," later becoming an abduction. Those following Holly's case early on had several long discussions about semantics. Sadly, I do not recall the universal conclusions to which we collectively arrived.

*Realize that Holly left home between 7:30 and 7:40 that Wednesday morning. She was on the phone with a friend till 7:30 and said she was hanging up to put on her shoes and walk out the door. Her shoes were flip flops.
The scream that was heard by the neighbors occurred around this same time. Clint awoke around this time to outside voices. That was around 7:40. Clint witnesses Holly walking into the woods just before 8:00.

If you do nothing else, please do this:
Take a clock, place it in front of you and watch it for 15 minutes. Tick, tick, tick....tick, tick, tick.....tick, tick, tick....
This kidnapping (abduction...which ever term you choose) took almost 20 minutes! That is a lifetime! THIS DOES NOT OCCUR. Kidnappings are very quiet and quick. They take a shorter period of time than most other crimes, including murder or bank robbery. This perp was extremely confident...and probably cocky...and almost certainly inexperienced. Did he intend to abduct or just confront? Did something go wrong?
The time that was spent to complete this kidnapping, while a relative watched, is phenomenal.
This one fact alone speaks volumes to me....
Something isn't right.

I have not posted for a while. I am doing so as we marked the one year anniversary of Holly's abduction. I will not forget Holly or ever lose hope that she will come home. I feel compassion and sadness for all Holly's loved one's. This is my theory only....

I have an explanation, but it is just my theory. I have read and examined the facts of Holly's disappearance since day 1. *Only one witness saw Holly's abduction. *I have no idea who took Holly. *What I do know is the story that has been put forth is partly fabricated. Oh sure... there are some grains of truth but only enough to create a story that's purpose is to be vague and contradictory. Little nuggets of information *trotted out for public consumption are for the most part released then quickly retracted. *Of course the blame is put on the media ...some of which is deserved. But there have been 'credible' leaks (sometimes later denied)hand fed to desperate reporters who dutifully published them. *Everything was intentionally meant to frustrate and create doubt. I will simply conclude ...with my own theory ...that what broke the story as a home invasion ...which was latter retracted ....was the beginning of an evolving cover up. To what misguided purpose i have no idea. It is understandable that people are blind sided by the almost inconceivable notion that anyone in their community could harm one of their own. Then the misinformation machine took on *life of it's own complete with a phony morphing timeline. The pain of the *people in Darden is real. *Holly was a loved daughter, sister and friend. What is the truth? I hope that who ever is responsible will just let Holly come home. I think KB summed it up best when she spoke of this as a nightmare and that she will wake up and Holly will be home safe.

This is just my opinion. This is just my theory.

MizStery, I am assuming from this post that you believe a local, home-grown fella is responsible and for whatever reason, the facts are being distorted and covered up? Perhaps there isn't enough physical evidence to convict or hold a grand jury in this case. Perhaps family members of the local perp are covering for him. Maybe this is why LE is playing cards close to the vest and waiting, waiting.
Is this your belief?
If so, we are on the same page, my friend. Perhaps in different paragraphs...but the same page.

I continue to hold out hope a grand jury will be convened.

There is no other way I can come up with....other than to ask people questions about that morning under oath to get to the truth. JMO

I think it's up to $250,000. Yeah a significant amount and definitely should have been mentioned!!

Rewards tend to bring in more "crazies" especially when going national. It was good to not mention it.

Is he the one involved in the death of one of his parisheners at the church? It's been awhile.

I find it interesting that the pastor/sheriff/spokesmen/lawyer-type people manage the family.

Hey, who's holding the $250,000?

I haven't caught up yet, (had to duck out of SL case), so apologies if this has been answered.

Yes, oddly Don Franks pastor of the Corinth Baptist Church nee` spokesperson for the Bobo family is famous for stating that his grandson who was killed in an automobile accident 4 weeks prior to her disappearance didn't hit him near as hard as Holly going missing!

His daughter is married to the brother of the Henderson Co. Sheriff.
So the nephew of the Sheriff is the boy who was killed.
I have been quite troubled about the derth of info on his accident.
While there were at least two obits printed, there has never been a story on the accident involving a death in ANY local newspaper, in his case.
Odd huh?

I had a movie theme in mind, from the 70's...
What? (I'm deliberately not guessing 'Deliverance,' lol, although Georgia is closer to Tennessee than Washington.)

Thank you for these observations. They have been made and discussed at various times, but since nothing , and I mean NOTHING has really happened in this case since the first couple of days of reports, there have been no explanations forthcoming.

Also, something I find very troublesome, is the choices Clint made when trying to figure out who the voices were and what was happening. I still do not understand why he called his MOM, instead of sticking his head out the door and saying ' Hey, sis. whats up?''

Same thing when he sees her walking to the woods. Why not call out to her and say " Hey, ...?" But multiple calls to mom made no sense to me, at all. '

Jackson Sun was very involved at one point even inviting people to submit their theories on what they believed may have happened to Holly. Some of us thought this was a fabulous idea and may have brought in some good leads (well, at least I did...call me naive). We never heard anything about those theories.

They did write up what I would consider a two part series. The first part was information on the investigation. The second part was the family's version of events. This part was where Clint Bobo said he tried to stop people from going into the woods to preserve evidence. (paraphrasing). Also, the family's criticism (IMO) of LE.

The articles are now archived and have to be purchased.

I posted this article on Isabel Mercedes Celis thread. I think it applies here as well and perhaps in many of the other cases we follow. This is a sad reality and some of the statements made confirm what I felt all along about these investigations. In Holly's case, I believe the part about FBI versus Local LE is/was a big big problem, imo

What's the point of posting a huge reward if it won't be publicized? Makes no sense.

It's LE's job to weed through the crazies.

Somebody mentioned Dana as being quiet. I'll say,.... he has flown beneath the radar the entire trip...

...............not quite as well as Drew though..

I wonder if Drew hasn't made an appearance because he was indirectly implicated in this ? I'd be p'd off if my gf's brother and someone who I would consider a good friend would tell the nation and the world that the person who he thought kidnapped Holly was me. Wouldn't you? I'd be WTF? :what:

Is that why now the story changed to "cousin". Do they even have a male cousin that looks like Drew?:waitasec:

How easy to offer up a huge reward, knowing that it will never be paid out?

  • #620
In terms of LE tactics, rewards themselves are a regressive tendency - in the distant past perhaps they loosened tongues, but they've long-since lost their luster. Instead, social networking, for example, has been used in other areas (the Joanna Yeates case in England, for example) with LE Facebook pages or pages on LE websites and the like encouraging information and tips from the public. Won't see that in Tennessee, evidently.
