Holly Bobo’s purse found in woods near Tennessee home (C. Appeal/Bryson)

A purse belonging to missing nursing student Holly Bobo was discovered Wednesday in the woods near her home in Parsons, Tenn., providing one of the first major breaks in an increasingly cold, 2-year-old case. A neighbor’s dog found the purse and dragged it back to the dog owner’s home. The bag matches the description of one Bobo was carrying when she disappeared, and there were items in the purse indicating it belonged to the young woman, said TBI spokeswoman Kristin Helm.

April 19, 2013- Paris, Henry County TN officers to help in Bobo hunt
Henry County officers have been asked to take part in a large-scale search for Holly Bobo in Decatur County this weekend, after the missing woman’s purse was found Wednesday.
“The authorities down there have contacted us and asked us to send down some officers to search in the area where the purse was found, so we are sending some reserve deputies out, and some full-time deputies as well,” (Sheriff) Belew said.
“I know there’s going to be multiple agencies involved in this,” he said, noting Calloway County could be sending officers.

Do you think they are still coming or have the been told, "Nevermind".

Both??? I really don't know. It's hard to imagine LE would put their cart that far in front of their horse. It also wouldn't be the first time in this case LE has searched when they said they weren't.
I can tell you that I lean toward the purse belonging to HB, so I believe there could be some more searching, especially if that area has never been professionally searched.

So now we all must assume another young lady in the non populated area had a purse like Holly's and buried it in the woods.

I need a beer..

:drink:

We'd have to assume another young lady was walking through the woods with her purse - a purse very similar to a missing woman's.

IMO, the purse is Holly's and I think TBI knows it. I'm thinking TBI wants to confuse the perp(s); keep them guessing, so they're not alerted to the search. If we're confused, think how confused the perp(s) must be. If this is TBI's strategy, I sure hope it works and Holly will be found.

WTF??!!

This is not even funny. Not her purse?

Lots of people have their identical missing pink purses buried near a missing girl's back yard. Yeah... that's it. Case of mistaken purse identity. What about the items of Holly's that were purported to be inside said purse?

I think LE is now officially fed up with this case.

thank you for that quote. this isn't the case of a news reporter taking poetic license, this is a case of the spokesperson for the tennessee bureau of investigation confirming a fact to reporters and then later retracting. there are two reasons for this 1) incompetence or 2) stealth. i'd love to take a vote on which one wsers think....

I think LE is now officially fed up with this case.

It feels like they were never interested in the first place. It's probably wrong of me to say that, but christ, this case has been one confusing mess.

Yeppers. From day one it's been something of a disconnect. I just can't figure out quite why.

Thinking this last is the straw that broke the camel's back. Will be happy to be proven wrong though.

Anyone know of a case were LE says they found evidence to a missing persons case and then a family member says its not?
Hopefully it is hers and its just a tactic to make the perp leave something else

I've never heard of a case where LE finds evidence and the victims first identify it then retract the ID of it.

When KB tentatively identified the thing, did she ask what brand it was? Or did LE ask of her the same question? Or was it just, straight, here's a picture, ma'am, do you recognize it.

I don't think, all things considered, that this is a tactic. TBI does not strike me as a tactically savvy entity.

I wonder the likelihood that this family is so desperate for information and proof, they wished it to be so very badly? Maybe they just wanted terribly to believe that there was finally something that pointed to her disappearance after all of this time. Maybe they wanted to make sure no one was giving up on recovering Holly.

All I can think of is that they ID'd the purse, and then there was irrefutable evidence that it wasnt hers, like it wasnt contemporary, or a model number showed that it was made after she disappeared, or it was a childs...

This poor family. IMO they are grasping at anything and I can completely understand that.

BBM: I don't think that they are Woofie...

This case is downright bizarre.

My understanding is that LE was going on Karen Bobo's ID of the purse. She is the one who retracted her ID.

Its obviously the purse. Something is amiss.

This made me laugh. Out loud.

I think the thing that shocks me is that this purse has not been DNA tested yet. So how can we take anyone's word that this isn't the purse.

Even things that are left in the elements can have traces of DNA left on them. In addition, What is the likelihood that the items normally contained within the purse would not be there someone in or near it? I think about zero.

At one time, for a long time, I thought TBI was controlling this case. Now I am thinking differently.
