Life Time sex offender status??? Does that mean he is on some stupid list??
DUDE if your a$$ is in jail for life... I know my kids are safe!!

If your are under the age of 15 and molested by someone over the age of 18.
Game should be OVER. They should spend the rest of their life in prison.
I am personally tired of this. If someone touched my (at one time) 14 YO daughter??
"I would be the one arrested."
Me too!

I didn't even read the article and I'm disgusted. Sex offenders are ALWAYS labled for life, aren't they? That doesn't mean that they won't reoffend....obviously. UGH!!! :furious:

State accepts plea deal to keep defendant from losing sex offender statusHe was scheduled to go on trial yesterday in Huntingdon, but District Attorney General Hansel McCadams says flaws were found in the evidence.
I've tried to find other articles that would clear this up but haven't been able to so far. I wonder what the flaws are. If the flaws were enough to lean towards acquittal, I suppose there wasn't much choice but to go the route of the plea deal.

It depends on the state and the offense. In some states, one can apply to have their name taken off the list after a certain number of years without reoffending. I don't know all of the crimes that offer that option - I've only heard of it once regarding statuatory rape and urinating in public.

I guess he wasn't registered as a sex offender before...

Here's the evidence problem:
There was a conflict concerning who was around the baby and when.

Witness statements and surveillance video from McKenzie Regional Hospital didn't coincide.

McCadams says medical information conflicted on whether a rape took place.

He proposed the plea deal, rather than risk Goodrum being acquitted.

These are extremely significant evidence problems to present before a jury. I think that the plea deal was definitely the right way to go.

I just hope this baby can never remember what happened. Hopefully she'll be placed with a very loving family.

I am a nurse and have spent my career working in maternity and pediatrics. It is kind of sad for me to see the many negative responses and suspicious fingers pointed at the hospital workers on this board. It is not easy to become a nurse, and it is very difficult, and very often thankless work with few perks. QUOTE]

I am also an RN and feel the same way. Sometimes if feels very thankless. (I love it when we get a noncompliant diabetic who smokes and drinks for years, and the family is mad at the nurses/hospital when their outcome isn't good).

Now that I have read through this whole thread, I see that this happened last June!? and he is getting out!? Another example of what is wrong with our country and sex offender laws. Unfortunately, it will be all too easy for him to find another woman who is willing to look the other way. :( :banghead:

Forgive me for forgetting the guys name, but there was a reporter on Anderson Cooper the other night who had come forward years later after being abused by a priest, if IIRC the preist recieved only around 18 months, didn't even serve it all, and the reporter was saying the same day, in the same courthouse, someone was sentenced to 2-3 yrs for overdue library books, what's wrong with this picture??????

The reality is that if medical information is conflicting on whether or not a rape even took place, there's no possible way that a jury would convict him. We don't know if he even committed the crime over which we are all disgusted.

Hi pixies, I just found out about this case, it makes me heart sick. I went to link you posted saw the pigs picture, where it says offenses, did I read this right? ATT rape on child? ATT does that stand for attempt? Did I miss something?

Paddy, that offense had to be an attempt on another child prior to what he did to his own child. That offense was in March of 06. I wonder if they have let this girl have her children back? I looked for followups about the case and couldn't find anything. Sad and sick. Also, weird is two people remain on this guys Myspace. One an older female pictured with a child. I mean wouldn't ya take yourself off that guys list of friends?

My bad, thanks for clarifying. I'm not sure if they let her have children back, my guess probably so. I don't know how the laws work there, but here in Calif. I once was told by a Social worker regarding an abuse case "It's our job to reunite the child with the parent", which made me scream! By the way the child that was given back to parent in the case I'm talking about, was taken away after 2 weeks because she was abused again! Our laws have got to change.
