Defense begins saying law enforcement didn’t investigate everything. They didn’t even prove Joe Clyde urinated on the floor. They accept #JoeClydeDaniels didn’t unlock a padlock. The door was unlocked and Joe Clyde had a history of escaping.

Mitchell says in the confession Agent Boyd coerced Joseph. He tells the defendant “We know things” and “We need you to tell us the whole truth”. They say Boyd tried to get anything out of him.

Mitchell is taking a new angle here. He says the TBI was investigating Alex Nolan and he made statements in his confession to protect his step-son. “He doesn’t know what happened and he doesn’t want to mess up what Alex said.”

DA Ray Crouch addresses the jury saying “Because he committed murder, he killed his own son and he’s now afraid his father might be mad. And rightly so.” This is in reference to Daniels confessing “my dad is going to kill me.”

Defense argued in their closing the state needs to eliminate reasonable theories. Crouch says then we need to eliminate the story that #JoeClydeDaniels escaped.
