Josh Day was last seen in the Pyburn area on Friday, July 24, 2020.
He was riding a tan Honda Recon 250.

Search continues for missing man who disappeared in Marion County

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office says the search continues for Josh Day.

Josh Day was last seen Friday, July 24, riding a tan Honda Recon 250 4-wheeler in the Pyburn Area in Tracy City.

Day’s 4-wheeler was found around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, about an hour and half after the GCSO asked for volunteers to help with the search.

At around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, the GCSO determined that Day disappeared in Marion County and tracking dogs were brought in to help with the search.

UPDATE (July 27 6:30am) Josh Day has not been located. The search is ongoing. .

UPDATE (6:20pm): The search for Josh Day is still ongoing. It has been determined the area in which he went missing is in Marion County. Marion County EMA has been given command of the search. Tracking dogs from Franklin County are enroute.

UPDATE (2pm): the four wheeler Josh was riding has been found. Josh has not been located. The latest location coordinates are listed in the photo below.

NEED ASSISTANCE( Sunday, July 26th; 12:30): If anyone has an ATV or side by side and can help us look for a missing person in the Pyburn Area please go through the gate at the end of Raven Point Road in Tracy City. Josh Day was last seen two days ago in that area riding a tan Honda Recon 250. The latest coordinate we have is: Lat. 35.22751, Long.-85.73027. Park rangers are already in the area with other riders.

GCSO takes over search for local man

Initially the search was spearheaded by Marion County Sheriff’s Office because of the jurisdiction in which the four wheeler was located, but according to Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum that has changed.

Matt Blansett with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said, “We’ve done everything on our side that we can do. The four-wheeler was found just over the line on our side, but Day hadn’t been seen anywhere but in Grundy.” Blansett added, “We’ve offered to assist in any way that we could but there was nothing that pointed to him being on the Marion County side of the line.”

Shrum stated, “The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office is going to do whatever we need to find the young man.” The four-wheeler was located with ample gas and “started right up” according to Shrum. GCSO was taking assistance from Williamson County EMA. When asked about whether Shrum felt this was a rescue or a recovery, Shrum replied “Right now, we’re still very much considering this a rescue investigation.”

•Two dog search teams from Williamson County were deployed today looking for Josh Day.
•The dogs did track a scent but Josh was not located.
•Authorities will discuss further plans in the morning.

Grundy authorities seeking man missing south of Tracy City since Friday

The search area generally is east of the nearby Grundy Forest State Natural Area at South Cumberland State Park and Fiery Gizzard Recreation Area along the county line around the Raven Point Road area.

I wonder the circumstances around the found 4 wheeler.
Was it found in an unusual spot or manner?
Did he abandon it because he ran out of gas?
Was the 4 wheeler wrecked or damaged in any way?

UPDATE: (July 31 6:30am): The search for Josh continues. The case has been turned over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The Sheriff’s Office and Tracy City PD will continue to assist.

Human remains have been found near an abandoned mine shaft in Sequatchie County.

The sheriff says a resident made the discovery yesterday, in a remote area near highway 108.

It’s near the Grundy, Sequatchie and Marion county Line.

Grundy and Marion county authorities have been looking for a missing man — Josh Day — for three weeks.

Circumstances of Disappearance
This reporting agent was advised to investigate the disappearance of JOSHUA DAY, who went four-wheeling with two friends in the area of Ravens Point Road just outside of Tracy City, TN on the night of July 24, 2020.
While other agencies and private citizens looked for JOSHUA DAY before this reporting agent's involvement, his four-wheeler was found approximately 50 yards off a riding trail next to a small campfire site.
From statements made to this reporting agent, the four-wheeler would start and run but only for a couple of minutes before shutting off and no signs of JOSHUA DAY were located.
The area has been canvassed by tracking/trailing K9's, cadaver K9's, volunteers, and aviation units.

Josh's family (his aunt) posted in the Grundy County Sheriff's Office update on Facebook (link previously posted by @mlhenn). Josh missing has been so sad for his family. I hope he can be found soon.
