"Crime scene tape was still draped around the weeded area on Sunday, marking the spot where the body was recovered.

Before the vegetation was eliminated, Box said, "no one could've seen the body from where it was at."[/B][/COLOR]

The crime scene tape can clearly be seen from the road, just off what looks like the driveway into the cemetery. Certainly not way back in the woods or off the beaten path. Doesn't seem to give the appearance of someone trying to hide the body where it would never be found?

From looking at the Foxnews link, this is where I think she was found:

I am so glad to hear that Karen has been found. Hopefully they will be able to discover enough clues from her body and the scene to arrest her killer.

Is this an old cemetery or one where bodies are still being interred? Maybe grave diggers found the body? I tried to google this cemetery and found a blog where a PI suspects that she may have been killed by a SK as she is the fifth female body found in TN cemetery this year - four in Memphis area around March. It's a little less than 2 hrs apart, but it would be a real stretch to connect them. I don't think we can link blogs but anyone could do a search and find it.

Or, maybe the body was found when someone went to the cemetery to bring flowers for Christmas (or to just clean up the cemetery for visitors coming at this time of year).

She was found just down the road from her own home. I don't think there's some grave robber who put her there.

R.I.P. Karen

The PI is trying to connect four murdered prostitutes in another city to Karen ... but there is no connection. From the sounds of it, Karen was left just off the road leading to the Bledsoe cemetery and the only reason she was found is because the winter weather killed the surrounding growth.

I would also like to offer condolences to "Here4MyFriend", a fellow WS poster and friend of Karen's who came to share her thoughts and concerns with us. You helped us know Kaen a little better and as a result, many of us felt she was our friend too.

I am sure others share my feelings in saying that we are so sorry for your loss. We all hoped for a better outcome, but it was not meant to be. I pray God's healing in your life and in the lives of those who knew and loved Karen.

Most sincerely,

LindaG

Wow, so sad to hear it was Karen. Glad she's been found so the family can start the grieving process but definitely not a good outcome. It broke my heart to see her son on the news, talking about wanting to find his mom. I'm so sad for them. :(

Condolence from Illinois too! My heart goes out to you Here4MyFriend.:rose:

All we really need to know now, in order to elliminate the husband, is where her pyjamas are and what she was wearing when she was found. If she was wearing her pyjamas, or if they are missing, it doesn't look good for the husband.

Thank you so much. I think we are just in shock right now. I tried to expect the worst, but it still hurts when you get confirmation.
Lead investigator is meeting with my mom as we "type". I pray the LE finds the monster responsible.

Were dogs used anywhere near her car or her home? I have come to greatly appreciate the wonderful tool that dogs can be to missing person cases. I am in awe that they can determine if a person has died in a home or around a car. Praying for answers soon!

The dog found no trail from the car using Karen's scent according to her brother on Nancy Grace:

GRACE: OK. So the phone call was made -- the Google search on her phone was done at 5:00 a.m. She goes and picks her daughter up at 1:45 a.m. So she`s -- from the sleepover. So she`s getting back home, getting in bed around 2:00 a.m.

JOHNSON: The dog where her vehicle was didn`t pick her scent up out of the -- out of the area. I`m thinking that somebody else drove that vehicle there.

GRACE: That is entirely possible. Karen may never have even been in that car when it was dropped on the side of the road.

I've asked this before, but don't think anyone answered. Does anyone know what the statistics are for how often missing persons are recovered from a formal search as opposed to happenstance? Or perhaps a tip? I am just curious. It seems we put forth a lot of efforts to find the missing and was wondering how fruitful those searches are. Not saying they aren't worth it, just wondering how effective they are.

TIA

That's an interesting question. Around here, search parties are not permitted until after police have completed a search because investigators do not want the area to be disturbed by independent (non-investigator) search parties. That is, if there is a good tip or reason to believe someone will be found in a specific area, search parties are excluded. If there are no leads and no specific search areas, independent search parties are welcome to search. I think missing people are more often found by chance, like we saw with Caylee Anthony and Karen Swift.

Maybe Equusearch has stats on success rates, as they are an independent search group.

Body found in rural Tennessee identified as missing mother of 4

snipped...

"It's very emotional for Mr. Swift and the family," Timothy Naifeh, a lawyer for the woman's husband, David Swift, said in a statement.

"They're asking at least for this period of time to have some privacy -- it's time for grieving and it's time for mourning. It's heartbreaking and it's very, very sad."
