The child is identified as Kayden Nolen, who has autism and was last seen around 1 p.m. Wednesday at his home at The Lakeview Apartments in southeast Memphis.

Kayden's aunt told Memphis Police (MPD) that she woke up from a nap to find that the boy was gone. The family also said that he's wandered off before but usually, they find him pretty quickly at the apartment complex.

According to a press conference held by MPD, officers have been searching overnight since Nolen went missing from the Lakeview Apartments in Meadow Lake.

****
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshal Service, and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office are currently assisting MPD with the investigation.

MPD is also utilizing drones and helicopters for aerial searches in addition to their search on the ground.

BBM. Why oh why do so many children go missing when the person watching them "takes a nap"?What time did she wake up from her nap after last seeing him at 1pm? IMO This doesn't sound hopeful to me...

And not only is 5 scary by water but add in the autism and I don’t think this will have a positive outcome.

FOX13 crews spotted the Shelby County Sheriff's Office Water Service Bureau Water Rescue team at the apartment complex shortly before the news conference. There is a large lake at the apartment complex. Chief Davis confirmed that authorities were searching the water in their efforts to find Kayden, but that is just part of the search.

Is that trees or water?
Water. The apartments are ON the water. I capped 'on' because I couldn't believe it was water at first from the Google map view. I saw no shoreline or boats, but my research shows they hang out over the water. It's The Residences at Lakeview Apartments.

To give folks an idea of what it looks like up close. The walls surrounding the water aren't very high. A 5 yo could easily climb over them IMO.

We need to keep in mind that the child is autistic, and (usually) children with level 3 autism mainly wander. For a non disordered 5 year old maybe, but it isn't looking to good. His height is also 3'5, so also not good. It would be helpful if we can find out the exact height of the waters.

It is with heavy hearts that we update this Endangered Child Alert with news that 5-year-old Kayden Nolen has been located deceased
I'm gonna cry

His aunt last saw Kayden Nolen at the 2700 block of Meadowlake Drive on April 9, 2025. Nolen's Aunt says she woke up from her nap and noticed her nephew was missing from her apartment. Her family checked the rest of the complex before contacting the Memphis Police Department. Nolen, who has been diagnosed with autism, has left his home before and is typically found within the confines of the Lakeview Apartments

This is just a guess on my part since the shape of the lake looks manmade to me. Nature doesn't (usually) produce shapes like this.

Yeah, I don't think any of us are very surprised. Not wanting to put words in anyone's mouth, but the writing was pretty much on the wall with this case. So sad.
