Former Nashvillian here.Another rather misleading map pin!
Southeast of Nashville, looks like this is within the greater metropolitan area?
Guessing at some posters who may live in Tennessee:

Former Nashvillian here.
La Vergne is a Nashville suburb.
The decedent was riding a bicycle on the interstate (I-24) heading into Nashville when he was hit by a motor vehicle.
I'm wondering why he didn't take Murfreesboro Pike, which basically runs in parallel to I-24?
I'm guessing he was not from the area. Is there anywhere that allows bicycle traffic on interstate highways?
There are some interstates where cyclists are allowed, mostly in the western US where there really are no other options for getting through deserted areas or across mountain passes, etc. I have also ridden briefly myself on I-89 coming from Quebec into Vermont. It's the only place to enter the US in that area. The US border agent just told me to take the first exit, about 1/2 mile in. There my be other border crossings like this.Part of the definition/designation of an Interstate -- no bicycles, no horse-drawn vehicles.
