Late to the party, off to find the thread about the very tall homeless woman in Sacramento, CA; resemblance to this picture.

Here it is:

Super good that the library jumped in!!!

Lori listed as 5'10", this lady listed as 5'11"

The original post from WCPL Special Collections has a ton of valuable info in the comments. I was incorrect on the middle school; apparently GMS wasn't built yet at the time she was in middle school. Thought I'd share here for others to check out and also for my own future reference.

Not sure how much of this is appropriate to share on here, happy to delete this if it breaches TOS:

Yes, the comments on FB indicate that Lori (I'm going to call her Lori because that's how she's referred to in any news articles, missing person's flyers and in the posts on social media by those form her community) attended Northside Jr High. It appears that people responding to the post on the Special Collections FB page have checked both the high school and Jnr High Yearbooks and there are no pictures of her.

There is a comment from a man on the Grasslands Community FB page that says he knows that the PD have a full colour photo of Lori because he provided it to them (I'm not sure of his relationship to Lori).

The overwhelming theme of the comments is that the majority of people from her class and community largely don't remember her or this event, barring a teacher and a couple of others. Even a woman who worked at the CY Market at the time doesn't remember the incident. Those that do remember recall her being a runaway.

There is speculation from some that Lori was the sister to a man with the initials BS who has a public profile but researching him, I can't find any mention of him having a sister, let alone one that disappeared so I'm not sure if that's true, and if it is it's probably not really relevant anyway.

The Marcia Trimble case in the same area at a similar time got huge publicity - so I am guessing that Lori's case was very much seen as a runaway rather than an abduction. I would love to know more about where people thought she was headed if she was indeed hitchhiking/'running away'.

Good Summary. With so few people remembering her and no one being able to find her picture in a yearbook, I have to wonder if Lori and her family were new to Franklin, TN in 1978. I searched Ancestry for the name of the woman thought to be her mother (SS) and found a 1975 City Directory listing for someone with the same first and last name in Marysville, Yuba County, California. It's possible Lori went to middle school in California or elsewhere. Unfortunately, I did not have any luck searching for Marysville, CA yearbooks on Ancestry.

Does anyone have a classmates.com account? I think this would be her middle school if she was in Marysville, CA in 1975: Anna McKenney Intermediate: http://www.classmates.com/places/school/Anna-McKenney-Intermediate-School/17731231

Curiousme,

:wagon:

I'm so saddened by the comments. The theme is no one heard about it or remembers. I find it sad the family didn't pursue it like so many other families. Not passing judgment but wondering if Lori was part of the family as a foster child?

One woman thinks she remembers Lori from church. One thinks she taught her. It will be interesting to see what develops. Thank you all for the hard work!!

Someone wondered if this could be her. It's hard to tell comparing it to the black and white picture. Hopefully a color picture from '78 turns up :)

I just logged in and looked but it seems as though there are no yearbooks uploaded for the school at all - can someone else with a login check please? Seems weird.

There as one comment on the facebook posts we've been discussing from a woman whose mother was a realtor and sold the Sibrels their home, and that she recalled they had moved from Cottonwood before living in River Rest - who knows if this is correct info, it's just someone's memory from a long time ago. The CA thing is interesting though and I wonder if she still had family there and may have run off to try and get back there? I haven't heard mention of her Dad anywhere and whether he was living with them?

This case is sooo strange. I sent an email to BS, who knows if he's still active/ answering them though. I had a woman tell me BS and SS lived in Ohio at one point, so if anyone has access to records maybe they could search Ohio? I wonder who reported Lori missing.

I'm assuming the man who was married to SS in the 1975 Marysville, CA City Directory is Lori's dad (I could be wrong). His initials are DWS. DWS is listed as being in the US Air Force in the 1975 City Directory. I also found him listed as winning 2nd place in a Chess tournament in 1976 and said he was living in Marysville, CA. Being in the Air Force they would have moved around a lot. I think they all moved to Franklin, TN in either 1976 or 1977. Lori's dad remarried in Robertson County, TN in 1979: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VN6B-R25 I can view the actual marriage license on Ancestry and it says he was living in Nashville, TN at the time. I was thinking that if her parents divorced while in TN, perhaps Lori tried to run away to go live with her Dad in Nashville. She might have been picked up by the wrong person if she tried to hitchhike :(

Yes, BS was born in Green County, OH. I found his birth announcement in the paper (just says "boy born to Mr and Mrs Sibrel of Dayton" I know it's him because of the date). I can't find a birth announcement for Lori, though.

Just take care with reaching out to family members of missing persons - we're not really supposed to do that and then post about it on here. Of course, there's nothing at all wrong with you doing so as an individual, it's more that websleuths don't want that info here on the forum.

Thanks, illustrative article indeed.

Hhhhmmm, he could produce a documentary about looking for his missing sister.

Maybe claim the local police failed his family? Look for her himself?

Who benefits from her absence?

Is this his escape from losing her?

Interesting on so many levels!

My thoughts exactly - he was 14 went she went missing and references that being a pivotal point but no reference of Lori.

Yeah I can't wrap my mind around not putting forth the same amount of effort into locating her. As Laughing said, he could have. A sibling is more implant than a moon landing. But maybe that's just me. That's why I wondered if she was a foster kid. I know some foster kids who take on the family name. Plus I don't see a resemblance between them. Who knows?

Still hanging on to hope someone will come forward about Lori. It does sound to me like perhaps she tried to leave on her own? If perhaps she was trying to get back to her father/family/someone in another state. Obviously I really don't now, but Its so sad they treated it with such little attention. I still check that FB page almost everyday for comments. No one remembers her... that's almost a tell tale sign she wasn't from the area... I wasn't really popular or did anything crazy, but I know if I went missing in my HOME TOWN people would remember me. Teachers, friends, parent's friends, people from church etc...
