I see so many people discussing Luc’s life and disappearance, people actually telling me what they think even at my job. I have to keep quite because I know they only hear the news cast.
Luc was an amazing person, he ALWAYS greeted me with a smile. He went out of his way to help his community. I can’t imagine ever walking into the restaurant again without his presence...
He loved his daughters and his step son very much, he was a terrific dad.
No we still aren’t sure of all the events of that October night and why the trailcams (aka hunting cameras) disappeared outside of the back gate, all I can pray is that all will be revealed soon.

HOW were searchers able to locate him - sounds like this is a huge and remote area.

I believe a private investigator found the body. Haven't seen any mention of who the PI was or how they found the body.

Sheriff: Search for Luc Vance ends with body's discovery in Unicoi

Asked why a private investigator was able to find Vance’s body in less than a week after being hired by the family, Hensley said it is “a remote” and “large” area.

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. He must have been an amazing person to be loved by so many.

I’m so very sorry. Rest In Peace, Luc. I’m so glad the family hired the PI so they can get some degree of closure here before the holidays. I wonder what led the PI to his location? Probably just looking “one ridge over” from the known search area.

So sad to hear of Luc's death, esp. here at the holidays. I am thankful, though, for this PI team and that the family now has Luc for proper burial. Prayers for them.

Thankful he was found and for the PIs that found him. Sorry for this sad outcome. Will be praying for his family and community.

It's easy to find beauty in nature when life can be so complicated for us humans. It sounds like Luc had a deep love for the simplicity of the natural world and went off to spend his last moments surrounded by its tranquility and soothing beauty. Clearly, Luc brought joy for a lot of people. I'm saddened to think that he may have fought the darkness in his own life. I certainly wish for his family to find some peace in knowing what happened to Luc and in celebrating his life.

So, what if he didn’t just walk up in the woods... what if he was actually taken along with items from his home to make it appear that way?

It's possible. But are you familiar with Occam's razor?

He packed a backpack, took a cushion and built a lean-to --- what does that sound like? Hiding?

Are you asking me what I think or do you mean to ask the person who suggested that maybe someone put him there? Like I said, Occam's razor is my thinking. The simplest explanation is that he went there, found a spot that was secluded and peacefully ceased living.

Not asking anyone in particular. I wonder if peacefully ceasing living had been the goal, would he have packed, taken a cushion for comfort, built shelter? I wonder if perhaps he thought he could clear his head with some time outdoors, then that didn't work. I don't know what happened that night and don't know that we ever will. Just thinking . . . mulling . . . feeling sad that a man who appears to have been such a great guy is gone so young. Was he hiding, clearing his head, or just ending things? Or something else entirely? Too many unknowns. What is known is the sadness of him being gone so young.

I see what your point is now.

It actually sounds like hunting. I’m pretty sure it was deer season.
