Wear flaps, no belts, no purses next time you wanna go see a film. That is where this is gonna head - metal detecters , casue America is not willing to deal with the real deal , mental illiness resources.

Once they spend 4 billion dollars on that- they will move to a grocery store - rinse repeat. Its sad and infuriateing IMO!

The police response in the last two (and hopefully they are the LAST two) movie shootings has been fantastic. Thanks to the people who call for help and thanks to the people who respond!

Please, let this be the last one.

hmm... if it is, then it could be a drip drip drip approach of keeping up a pace to wear down to a certain goal and/or hateful copycats trying to out do each other over the summer headlines? So, if Daesh wants to put itself in the cross hairs so overtly, what besides terror and recruitment could be their goal? I see them as the shock troops for AQ, the low risk expendables to cover for the broader anti-US goals being broadcast from the region and being more seriously pursued. The more I read, the less of a separation I see between those two and how they act indistinguishably from the mentally challenged.

Police: Antioch theater shooting suspect dead, had hoax device
5:09 p.m. CDT August 5, 2015

Metro police say a 51-year-old male suspect who opened fire in a Antioch theater this afternoon first sprayed three victims with pepper spray, and also injured one of them with a hatchet.
All of the victims were treated at the scene, officials said.

[...]
After the incident, police discovered two suspicious backpacks: One on the suspect and one left in the theater. By 4 p.m., they had detonated one of the bags. Police determined the bag strapped to the suspect's chest contained a hoax device.

That should answer some questions.

They should not let someone with TWO backpacks into a movie theatre anymore. Who needs two backpacks to watch a film. Make them leave them out in the lobby. JMO

Three people were sprayed with a chemical irritant believed to be pepper spray. A 58-year-old man also suffered a superficial wound to the arm from a hatchet or axe, Nashville Fire spokesman Brian Haas said.

The suspect, identified as a 29-year-old white man who is from the area, was shot and killed by police as he exited the Carmike Hickory 8 theater in the suburb of Antioch, Metropolitan Nashville Police Department Don Aaron said.

That is weird. I heard on ABC news radio that it was a 51 yr old local man. Wonder if there is a father with same name that they got mixed up with?

I read that too! Good call on him possibly being a junior, would definitely explain the mixup.

CNN (Anderson Cooper) just now reported that the shooter is 29. That is a big difference from 51! It will be interesting to learn more about his background (e.g. religious beliefs etc)

I bet he is just another meth fueled, moronic whack jobs, that we are seeing way too often.

I am glad that he didn't manage to have a real gun. And I think even his axe was dull. Thank Goodness. It doesn't seem like he really wanted to kill people. I think he wanted to get killed himself, in a dramatic way. RIP VM :rose:

Vincente Montano identified as Antioch theater suspect
8:21 p.m. CDT August 5, 2015
Nate Rau, Stacey Barchenger, Jordan Buie and Natalie Neysa Alund,

[...]
Police spokesman Don Aaron said in a 7:45 p.m. press conference that Montano had been arrested on an assault charge in Murfreesboro in 2004. Montano had been committed for mental health care a total of four times, in 2004 and 2007, he said. He had also been reported as a missing person Aug. 3, Aaron said.

The suspect carried a hatchet into the theater at Carmike Hickory 8 at 901 Bell Road on Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. The man also had a backpack strapped to him, and police said late Wednesday the suspect also carried an Airsoft-style gun, which typically shoots plastic BBs.

He was 'reported as a missing person?' I wonder who made the report?
