The Jeep Wrangler seems to be popular here in No. Virginia, too. In fact, I am so envious every time I see somebody drive by in one (about every 5 minutes, it seems, around here)! They just look like they are enjoying it so much. But, I am OLD (but quirky)! If I bought one, I'd lie and say I was getting it for my son! I keep thinking that I'd like to just rent one for a week or so to see if I REALLY do want one after all.
These are the "negatives" I've been told about Jeep Wranglers: they are unreliable -- I'm used to that, have rarely bought a "brand new" vehicle, and that's what AAA is for! They are gas guzzlers. Nothing new to me either. Ride "like a truck." Fine with me. Are noisy because of the soft tops. Have a tendency to tip over! (I always wear a seat belt.) Insurance rates are high on Jeeps.
But I've been told these things by people who don't own a Wrangler -- but maybe own a Grand Cherokee -- which doesn't even seem like a Jeep to me. The most appealing thing to me is that when I am sitting in a traffic jam, I fantasize that if I had a Wrangler, I'd just drive up over the median and go the opposite way to get out of it! So, then, I'd get pulled over -- no stranger to that either (but I don't need it)! I've heard that there is a "cult" following of those who own them. In other words, despite the quirks and seeming disadvantages of Jeeps, these owners are willing to overlook their "faults" because they love them so much!
Sorry for "Off Topic". I know this isn't a used car website!
