“I have known Tad Cummins over the years, and I think I could honestly tell you that I’m not surprised that she’s safe. I will let the courts deal with the ramifications of what happened here,” Butt said.

Am I the only one who is bothered by this comment?

Remember what Tad's wife said previously that SHE still LOVES HIM but she doesn't trust him....

So, it seems like he has a different persona at times?? IMOO.

Sidenote... I thought this quote from Sheila Butt, a Republican state lawmaker who represents Columbia, was pretty strange and a little inappropriate. Seems like she is defending TCs character, unless I am misinterpreting.

I agree. Light words for such a hated criminal.

The prosecutor of this case needs passion, not compassion. Added to TC's friends list for sure. She sounds like a person who might even have helped him to me. With that attitude, you have to wonder how much effort was put into pursuing him.

Goes to show, it isn;t what you know, it's Who you know.

No, this bothers me too. She hasn't been safe for quite a few months IMO, and is only now safe because he is in cuffs!

The 50-year-old Tennessee man accused of kidnapping his 15-year-old former student was arrested in Northern California — and the teenage girl was recovered safely after she was missing for more than a month, authorities said Thursday.

Tad Cummins, a former high school teacher in rural Tennessee, was nabbed in California after disappearing with Elizabeth Thomas on March 13, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a post on Twitter. More details were not immediately available, but the TBI said Thomas was recovered safely...
