Sorry to be OT ... I follow this thread as well as Abby and Libby thread but I am not able to access the Abby and Libby thread. I haven't broken any rules I am aware of. Is the thread closed? Again sorry for the OT TIA

If TC's sister doesn't buy his explanation then that's even more reason not to relay it to a broad audience. It serves no one but TC, certainly not ET.

I do feel that victims and family members on both sides are often scrutinized to an unfair degree.
For example I thought some people were too harsh on JC's interview, especially given that it was probably meant to flush TC out of hiding. So I don't blame TC's sister for people latching on to the most sensational detail and taking it out of context. But she doesn't need to be talking to the press at all, and if she decided to do so, she should have been more cognizant of the effect her words could have.

I think it would be very wise of all parties to refuse any media or public interviews/statements. These are people who don't have any experience with this wacky news world. They are very vulnerable to being taken advantage of. I hope they have legal counsel that will start advising them of these things. Then again, she may have that and decided to do it anyway. (I kind of doubt that, IMO.)

All of that to say this...I hope for their own sake, they stay away from the media. They are predatory in these situations.

I am not picking on this post in particular but to those who are minimizing or giving their opinions on the interview with TC sister.
IMO, it is downright in poor taste for her to have even done the interview. Maybe she is making poor choices as well.
To me, the main point is we have a 15 year old child who has already been victimized by adults who were supposed to protect and care for her. WTH does it matter what TC sister has to say, unless it is to garner sympathy for her family (or TC). We know that the media likes to sensationalize these crimes but 99 times of 100 the family has the sense to go PRIVATE.

Perhaps, but as a :websleuther: it signaled to me, that it is his plan is to claim that his "story" is one which he will claim that he was "helping her"/"from harm" vs. the charge of being with a federal charge that would give him sex offender status for the rest of his life.

Many here have thought that this would be his "story", and :moo: :cow: this interview pretty much verifies that those :websleuther: were right in their thinking.

"Judge, I researched law and found it wasn't illegal in Tennessee" kinda defense...

BTW... I still want to know how they knew they were in Berkeley California, in addition to search warrant return on te car.

How is it that we have search warrant return on the cabin, but not on the car or at BBR?

What media outlet ORIGINALLY released the search warrant seizure for the cabin? Anyone know?

I am in no way defending TC but I will say this about his sister. I am a sister and I know that no matter what my brother did I would still love him. I've spent 30 years loving him and you can't just turn that off. Yes, I would be upset with him for doing something horrible and I would be ashamed/disappointed/mad/in disbelief but I would still love him. I would probably still accept his phone calls and visit him. You don't quit loving someone because they do a bad thing. Why do you think people stay in abusive situations? And claiming to still love that person that's hurts them! Because love is a powerful emotion and we shouldn't trash talk TC sister because she loves her brother. She didn't defend him. She told the media what his statement was and then she even admitted that he will pay for his crimes. Saying that she loves him and will stand by him is totally normal in my opinion.

I won't be reading the Daily Mail again. The content I read/watched two days ago is on par with the National Enquirer. Complete rubbish. IMHO.

:cow:

The Daily Mail is sensationalistic, exploitative, and has the journalistic ethics of the average dumpster fire. I want to take a shower every time I finish reading it. Yet I can't seem to give it up no matter how hard I've tried. I'm thinking about starting a support group for fellow sufferers. "My name is MsMtOlympus and I'm addicted to the Daily Mail."

I don't have a link but IIRC there was a reporter showing the cabin and on the floor was a few papers, and one of them was what the FBI took from the cabin for evidence. It wasn't an actual release from LE.

BBM: She was quoting TC, she never said anything about him being right, or innocent, as a matter of fact, she seems to know exactly what he has done wrong and that he will have to pay for his actions. She is his sister and is going to support him, that's just logical, but she's not giving him a free pass. IMO

I agree. I understand the reaction but I don't think it's fair to insinuate she's stupid or nuts. He's a manipulator. Honestly - as much as we are all here for ET and want to see TC roasted over the coals - she is TC's family and as such, she probably has a family loyalty mindset. JMO

Oh, I agree. They have a lifetime f things to look back on. I imagine it's an enormously confusing and conflicted time for them. I don't fault JC for saying she loves him, either. We can love people through some pretty crappy stuff. I think they will love/be disgusted by him...their whole loves. Loving him is a natural response. Th interview I'm not so sure about, but I completely agree about love.

Personally, I don't think that the sister did the interview without legal guidance. I think it was all purposeful. I do think she loves her brother but I don't think this was the right time for an interview. It's too raw for everyone, especially ET and her family and even JC and her girls.

While ET is certainly the most affected victim here there are many more victims on both sides of the isle. IMO

OMG! I owe you all lunch! He WAS planning to go to Mexico!!!

with a boat! I'm so sorry to some of you who mentioned in the last 15 threads about him possibly obtaining a boat.

Why didn't he just head for the border ASAP in the Rogue? He would have gained access to Mexico through any of the Texas crossings before the AA was even announced!

  • #318
The new report said he was planning a dry run into Mexico via a boat from San Diego. I don't think that would have been a dry run and he would have had ET with him. And he admitted to altering the GPS and monitoring the news.

It's about time this has been said. I don't recall anybody in LE or MSM ever saying it like this the whole time this has gone on. IMO

The filing calls Cummins' alleged crime "heinous," adding the criminal complaint details "a person who abused a sacred position of public trust as a school teacher so that he could pursue an improper sexual relationship with a juvenile victim."

I would love my brother too. What you don't say is regurgitate his defense for the public. Again, she could have issued a simple statement about her love and support but that she understands what he did is very wrong and she wishes the victim well.

Instead, what she did here smacks of a tactic. Example?: "I'm not saying anything bad about so-and-so. But I hear that people are saying..."

I dont blame her for loving her brother. I don't buy that she's some rube tricked into an interview. I think it's an artful and subtle promotion of his defense.
