“We do come across unidentified remains all the time, but with this particular case usually we are able to identify these people within two to three days and in this particular case we weren’t,” Matthew Filter, a cold-case detective with the Metro Nashville Police Department.

She has been given the name “Jane ‘Nashville’ Doe 2018.” The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children created a facial reconstruction of the woman, depicting what she may have looked like. Forensic analysts determined that she was Black and possibly Hispanic. She was approximately 5′-5’5″ tall, with black, curly hair.

“Medical examiners determined she could be as young as 15 years old,” explained Filter. “It’s kind of unusual that nobody is looking for this person and that’s just what makes this case set apart from some of the other ones.”

Police first discovered her body on September 8, 2018, on the side of Sulpher Creek Road, near the woods. Due to the condition of her body, the medical examiner was unable to determine a cause of death. There was no evidence of traffic or hit-and-run crash. At the time, police believed the remains had been there for a while.

“This appears to be a younger female, she was wearing all Vanderbilt gear… so you would think she was possibly a college student or something like that and somebody would be looking for her,” Filter said.

She was wearing a Vanderbilt University sweatshirt and black leggings while Vanderbilt “V” inside the gold star in a wide-spread geometric pattern. After discussions with Vanderbilt University did not show anyone who matched this description.''

Could she be a high school athlete attending one of the school's sports camps, meant for high schoolers? Sometimes colleges hold skills clinics for younger folks, could be wearing the school's merch for a skill clinic or some kind of try outs? For some reason, I wonder if she is a cheerleader or part of the dance team? Looks like the school's squad holds annual try outs or skills nights for high school students

Mya Desrea Barnes is said to have gone missing on May 18th 2017, but was only reported missing almost an entire year later on March 5th 2018. It also says that she commonly used a fake birthdate to make herself appear older, so it's possible she could have wound up on a college campus even though she's on the younger side of the age range.

I just noticed that Deashia Dora was last seen wearing a black tank top. The Jane Doe was found wearing a black undershirt. Could the terms "tank top" and "undershirt" mean the same thing?

I feel like the Vanderbilt gear could be IMO a distraction/diversion, and - if Jane Doe was murdered - may have been part of the distraction from her identity and circumstances of her death. The fact that Jane Doe has remained unidentified for four years gives me some support in this theory.

Firstly, IMO, I find it unusual that someone would be entirely kitted-out in university clothes; maybe one or two pieces as part of an outfit, but the entire outfit including running belt? It feels like either a) Jane Doe was urgently in need of new clothes and either purchased or was given an entire outfit bought in one place and one time from a store selling Vanderbilt merchandise, or b) attention needed to be diverted away from Jane Doe's background and circumstances and an entire outfit from Vanderbilt would do the trick (heck it's got sleuthers focused in one very specific place, for starters).

I know the dates don't line up but damn do the circumstances line up for her to be Nahomy Benegas.

Nahomy was apparently last seen in December 2018 and heading to Tennessee. She is a 15 year old hispanic female. I don't want to say NAMUS is wrong, but maybe NAMUS is wrong?
