Nikki Burgess was reported missing back on May 25th after two days of no communication with family or friends. Nashville Metro Police say they suspect foul play. Police say she was supposed to be headed to the Crossville area, but never showed up.

Her father, Bill, is desperately searching for any answers as to where his daughter might be.

She was supposed to be visiting her father about a few weeks ago, but then something came up.

"It doesn't make you feel real good at all, but it was her choice. I've never been away from her that long since she was born," said Burgess.

Burgess says Nikki was planning on moving back to the Crossville area right around the time she went missing. One of her oldest friends set up the candlelight vigil to help get the word out about Nikki.

Why is everybody assuming she is dead ??

Why is everybody assuming she is dead ??

As the articles from the beginning indicated:
  • her phone wasn't being answered and she was not replying to calls or texts (unlike her)
  • her home was in disarray (unlike her)
  • her car and purse were there without her - and the purse was in her car (unlike her)
  • her dogs had been alone and uncared for in the house for several days (unlike her - stated she'd always have arranged care for them even for shorter amounts of times)
  • suspicious activity had been noted around her home by others
  • an unfamiliar vehicle was seen having been backed in to her driveway for some time
  • she's not been in contact with her son (unlike her)
  • she had no contact with her son's father (unlike her)
  • a strange text message was sent that seemed unlike her

None of those are encouraging indicators that she's gone by her own will. And in combination...

Especially when police have stated that they believe foul play is involved and they've had cadaver dogs out searching.

It has been over a week since anyone last saw or spoke to 37-year-old Nichole Burgess. On May 23, a close friend of the pin-up model received a disturbing text from Nikki and police were sent to her Nashville, Tennessee home, where they found her car parked out front, with her purse inside. Inside, the house she normally kept tidy was in disarray, with her two dogs inside. All those who know her say it's not likely she would leave them in the house alone, for any extended time period, without making some kind of arrangements for their care. Additionally, she is the mother of a 10-year-old boy, who was with his father when she disappeared.

Snip

One strange coincidence is another woman, also age 37, also named Nicole Burgess, was murdered just over a year ago, in Davidsonville, Maryland. No arrests have been made in her murder, but police do believe they have a person of interest, and are working to bring her case to a close. In the meantime, is there any connection between these two women? Is there someone out there, specifically targeting these women, and if so, for what reason?

Why is everybody assuming she is dead ??

:seeya:

I personally do not assume she is dead. Everyone who knows her well, friends and family are very, very concerned. The LE have stated they fear "foul play" is involved. There must be something that possibly has not been released to the public that cements it in their minds that this will not have a good outcome.

I often keep hope alive and easily find explanations for what the missing person could otherwise be doing. When I was younger it was nothing for me to disappear for weeks on end, without contact to my family or friends. I think they all grew to expect this from me. I was always just out on an adventure.

Depending on how long her 2 dogs were inside her house, and where they were in the house (freely moving about or in a kennel or in a room), could also be why her tidy house was in disarray, due to the dogs, perhaps....
IMOO.

Nichole Burgess Missing Person Case--Search Warrant Being Served in Anderson County

6/5/2014

June 5, 2014

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Nashville detectives investigating the disappearance of Nichole Burgess are today in Andersonville, Tennessee, near Knoxville, executing a search warrant at the home of Caleb J. Cannon, the father of Burgess’ 10-year-old son.

Crime scene specialists from the police department’s Identification Unit are also at the home at 306 Lambdin Road assisting in the search warrant process.

Detectives have traveled to Anderson County several times over the past week as part of the investigation. On Tuesday, a search warrant was served on Cannon for a DNA sample.

In seeking the search warrants, lead Detective Steve Jolley from the police department’s Homicide-Cold Case Unit told an Anderson County judge that based on the investigation thus far, Burgess is likely dead and that Cannon is considered a person of interest.

Detectives know that Burgess, 36, was last heard from by her best friend via text message on the afternoon of May 23rd. “Caleb” was referenced in that message. Later in the afternoon, Cannon, who had visitation privileges with the 10-year-old every other weekend, picked him up from school. They then went to Nichole Burgess’ Oak Vale Drive home in Hermitage. Nichole Burgess was not present. Cannon took the child to Anderson County later in the evening. The 10-year-old is now in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services while the investigation continues.

Anyone with information on the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Nichole Burgess is urged to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
Citizens can also send an electronic tip to Crime Stoppers by texting the word “CASH” along with their message to 274637 (CRIMES) or online at www.nashvillecrimestoppers.com. Persons who contact Crime Stoppers by phone, text or Internet can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.

The Nashville police department appreciates the assistance of the Anderson, Union and Roane County Sheriffs’ Offices in this continuing investigation.

I had a feeling this was going to go in that direction but I was hoping not for the sake of the 10 year old... I wonder if they have some sort of evidence that the DNA sample was specifically taken for or if it was just procedure.

Police believe missing Hermitage woman is dead
Brian Wilson, [email protected] 4:52 p.m. CDT June 5, 2014

In a court hearing tied to obtaining the warrants, Metro detective Steve Jolley said that Cannon is a person of interest based on the investigation and that he believed Burgess was no longer alive.

Police said Burgess, 37, was last heard from on May 23, when she sent a friend a text message that indicated she was having an altercation with Cannon, according to a Davidson County search warrant affidavit.

Burgess’ son is now in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.

There is a photo of the POI on this update as well.
If I have read correctly, from other folks...this was the ex-boyfriend. Her sons have two different fathers. Her other son is grown.

This is so sad! I feel so bad for the little boy. His mother is presumed dead, his father is considered a POI in her presumed death, and now he's in the Children’s Services system. He's only 10-years old -- he must be so confused and scared! This brings tears to my eyes and breaks my heart . I hope and pray he has a loving responsible family member to take care of him.
