Chester Co Sheriff says they are not allowing any more volunteer searchers today. Only trained personnel.

Per Chester co Sheriff civilian volunteers will no longer be searching today. ONLY trained search and rescue teams. #FindNoah #WBBJ

Huh ?? And the reason for that is.................???!!!

Are they using dogs? Maybe they don't want to confuse dogs with unnecessary scents.

Is it common to call in state police for a missing child? I mean for a child reported to just walked off from a trusted family member. If the sheriff needed more professionals to hunt, why not surrounding small town volunteers.

I'm not accusing the family but is it a possibility that Noah made it out of the woods and was picked up by someone?

I'm glad for all the volunteers but I believe if my small child wss missing I may not be able too trust they searched closely enough, especially around vacant buildings. I'm praying he's alive when he's found. All is JMO

This area is so remote that the Google car has yet to drive the roads. I think the sheriff called on any and all resources he could find. The volunteers were briefed before going out and they grid-searched shoulder to shoulder. Locals were requested to search their own property, including buildings.

All and all it's been a well-organized search. Sadly, IMO I think they've now moved into a recovery operation and it's probably better that the trained professionals take it from here. I hope I'm wrong.

It makes sense. They literally have people tripping over one another now........no more volunteers needed.

They have 8 hours of light left before the temperature begins to plummet.........this is the last ditch effort to attempt to locate before it becomes a recovery mission.

The only suggestion I would have is that some of the volunteers travel well outside the current search perimeter and start working their way back in towards the command center, in the off-chance that he traveled much further away than anybody realized he could.

Morning ‪#‎UPDATE‬ - It's been a few hours since my last update but there is not to much new information to report. Law enforcement and first responders searched tirelessly overnight searching for Noah but still no trace. The first group of new searchers were sent out at 8 a.m. this morning and we're told volunteer searchers will be sent out at noon and 4 p.m. As of this morning, more than 1,000 people from across the mid-south have assisted in the search for Noah and there is still no sign of stopping. Search organizers are saying no ATV's and no horse back searching is allowed anymore. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now spearheading the search with the help of local law enforcement. When I get more information from officials I will pass it along throughout the day. ‪#‎PrayForNoah‬ ‪#‎FindNoah‬ ‪#‎WBBJ‬

You may be right steelman. Posted at 11:03 CST (just a few minutes ago):

Tom Mapes, public information officer for the Madison County Sheriff's Office, said the only news to report from Friday night is that there is no new information available.

"We did continue and are continuing the search and rescue," Mapes said. "This morning a new canine unit came in.

"The thing that is so frustrating and bewildering is that we don't have anything new to add."

Now in the third day of the search, Mapes said investigators have not uncovered any clothing, footprints or blood and none of the dogs have been able to pick up a scent.
...
He said volunteers are still welcome and needed.

So that comment (rumour) about footprints was false.. It's strange they haven't found anything, Noah didn't vanish into thin air!

Starting to lose hope :(

Does anyone know which side of two little Noah is?

My (grandbaby) turned two just last month. So, I believe if he were in this situation he would not be coordinated enough to get far, and if he fell in a pit he would cry out for a short time. However I can see him being very quiet. In fact, I wonder if he would 'hide' from voices. So my point is, like one poster said it would be great to have the parents voices to call out his name, but even things such as "Noah, mama is here or daddy is here".

Softly talking to him while using mama and daddy's name. My thought is even a young two year old will repeat mama and daddy's name, KWIM?

Closer to three their communication is much better, and they like to play games on their adults. Like hide from grandma, try to beat the rest of the party home. Wonder how many times Noah has taken this trip into that area? If not too far, he could have made it back to his home area. I don't know. Guess none of this help now after days have passed, just thoughts I have for people in that situation.

As with all of you, I could hardly wait to get on the forum for any updates.

Blessings.

Unless it's very muddy, or covered in snow, I wouldn't expect to find any visible footprints. Also, he was wearing only a long sleeve shirt and jeans, so I wouldn't expect to find a hat or anything else he might have lost along the way.

And I've about given up on the value of search dogs in the case of missing small clean children. They just don't seem to be able to help.

eta: Is that the problem? That we've become too clean as a culture? In the day when a weekly bath - or less frequent - was the norm, were tracking dogs much more effective?

I am about an hour and half from Pinson....have driven through there many times....here we still have LOTS of leaves so I am assuming there are still lots of leaves there as well....we also have lots of mud due to recent rains.....I don't think their weather is much different than mine but could be....it is damp and will get much colder tonight.....praying for this precious child.

We have almost no information about Noah's age other than he's two; we also don't know if he lives at the grandma's house or was just visiting. They went on a nature walk directly behind the house. Mapes said there are paths in that area, which you can kind of see on the map. It's hard to tell how far they extend or if they're human made or deer trails. We also don't know how long it was between him taking off and grandma calling 911.

It probably wasn't long but he might have gone quite a ways during that time. I agree with steelman that volunteers should go a little farther out to search - some little ones can travel a surprising distance.

I wonder if the family has a dog? Noah's dog may be more successful than the search dogs. But like you said JT, it's a little late in the game to try this even if there is a family dog.

I can't believe I woke up and Noah's still lost. :(

I hope this isn't the first time that sinkholes are considered.

I think they need to search farther also. Little ones can travel far and fast. I followed a thread here last spring about 2 young boys in Australia that were lost overnight. They went almost 2 miles up a mountain in the rough bushland while barefoot. The search and rescue team had a hard time getting to them.

Hope today is the day he is found!!!

Do we know anything about the family? I tried googling, but all I can come up with is that he was with grandma and sister.
RSBM

Have the parents spoken publicly yet ? I think, if this happened to us, my husband and I'd probably be on camera just to thank the volunteers -- pretty sure we'd be helping with the search if we were allowed.

Does anyone know if the grandma was carrying him or if he was walking with them ? It's hard to think the dogs have not picked up a scent yet -- even if he fell into a sinkhole-- wouldn't there be a scent to that particular spot ?

At two years of age he may have discarded his diaper or 'pull-ups' , if he was wearing them and they were dirty and wet/cold.
All we know for sure is that he was with the grandma and sister, and they went on a hike behind (I'm assuming) grandma's residence.
Does the land behind her residence connect with public land or a park, as in a lot of woods ?
:moo:

Sheriff Weaver says right now ONLY trained search and rescues workers are out. Volunteers may be needed later on in the day.
