TN TN - Rhonda Daugherty, 49, LaFollette, 2 Dec 2014 - *L. Vann guilty*

  • #61
So...has Lonnie been named as a POI in her disappearance? Have the cases been confirmed connected by LE? If so, are we free to dig up info about him and post? I get confused by some of the rules here and don't want to post anything not allowed.

RUMOR Alert-

Vann is reportedly in a rental car (think GPS). Supposedly spotted at a Clinton WalMart a bit ago.

If this is true, then he is still in the area. The interstate runs right next to Clinton WM.

I can't imagine this Vann would think he could do away with a witness' wife and his case would go away. Maybe it was more anger than it was fear of testimony. I know there's nothing yet to say he did anything, but IF.

The dumbest thing about this guys actions, he was facing charges for solicitation of a minor and more than likely he would have ended up with maybe 6 months in jail, maybe even probation and counseling if it was his first offense. He didn't have sex with this teen girl, and he didn't rape her. He hugged her and tried to kiss her, according to reports. His bond was set at $10,000, which means he had to come up with $1000 to get himself out of jail. Not a very high bond, by most standards.

Now....he has escalated things into an armed robbery, with much more serious consequences and much harsher and longer jail time .

Now, add into the equation that the wife of one of the witnesses against him appears to have been abducted in front of her home and whisked away to some unknown location. She may be alive, she may not be. Either way, potential kidnapping charges would follow, which would probably carry even stiffer penalties than either solicitation of a minor OR armed robbery. If he has harmed her in some way.....then the sky is the limit on the potential prison sentence.

Long story short......this guy is just escalating the entire situation from a fairly manageable solicitation charge into an all out man-hunt which appears to be gaining steam like a freight train barreling downhill with no brakes. Where and how this is going to end, is anybodies guess.

No, I don't believe LE has publically named LV as a POI in Rhonda's disappearance.

There seems to be discrepancy between the first reports of LV's robbery of the elderly couple and subsequent reports. I read those original reports myself and would swear they said that he stole their vehicle. I can no longer find the original reports and subsequent reports indicate that he rented a Captiva on Wednesday and that is the last vehicle he was seen driving. So apparently, he did not steal their vehicle?

I agree KJ's as I remember reading this too. I've gone back to all the links and even video's and can't find it now.

Trying to figure out if he was/is really driving a rental car? Where would he likely have rented it?

Jacksboro (where he lives) has Budget Car Rental and Ayers Rental Car. LaFollette appears to have Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent-A-Car, Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent-A-Car. I can't think of a way to find out where he rented it.

Vann rented the car on Tuesday or Wednesday (discrepancy), the same day that Rhonda went missing. Prior to that, he was driving a red pickup, make and model unknown, which belonged to him. I imagine he dumped it for all the obvious reasons, you know, like it being easily identifiable and maybe evidence of a crime had occurred inside of it.

The video below says he rented the car on Tuesday 12/2, On the WLAF website they are saying he rented it on Wednesday.
I believe in the initial reports, it was claimed that he had stolen it from the elderly couple, but that has since been corrected. I think the MSM is tweaking the details as they go along, and as they update their sites. I got it wrong too in the beginning, because of the initial information that was published.

In the video below, they will tell you all about it, and even show you a picture of the car.

Vann tied up residence members, robbed them and then left in a cream-colored 2013 Chevrolet Captiva, which Vann had rented on Dec. 3 from LaFollette Enterprise. The vehicle has a Maryland tag with the numbers 2BC-6411. The case has been turned over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Looks like he got it from the local Enterprise. This particular vehicle gets around 28 MPG. Sounds like somebody was planning on a road trip to me...............

Could it be that Rhonda knew LV, not only from church, but perhaps through the school? Not sure how many children she has or their ages...but could she have been involved in the school where he taught? Was she the mother of one of his students perhaps?

I'm not positive (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but I believe Rhonda's kids are older <modsnip>. However, it's possible she was somehow involved in the school where he taught.

Her husband is listed on the witness list, not Rhonda, so I wonder if it's possible that Rhonda and LV didn't know each other, but LV and Rhonda's husband did and LV abducted her as revenge on her husband.

Per this article Vann's brother said Rhonda and LV did know each other. But TBI is not confirming the connection yet. I sure hope they are hot on his trail!

Off to see if there is anything new in MSM...

ETA: Nothing new :-/

The TBI will not confirm if there is a connection as the search continues for both the Vann and the missing woman.

There is a sign posted outside Daugherty’s church, which is the same church Lonnie Vann attended, according to his brother Bobby Vann, Campbell County’s circuit court clerk.

Vann says they knew each other.

Has it been said anywhere what Mr. Daugherty's profession is?

  • #78
I wonder what he could possibly testify about in the grand jury? Do they call in character witnesses or something?

  • #79
Is there active searches going on ?
